firefighters found flames and smoke in the at tick. firefighters are working on that. they knocked down the films in -- flames in 15 minutes. the owner was up and heard a noise and caused 9-1-1. pg&e is dealing with the power issues. firefighters called in the red cross but the farmer will not be kept out of the home for long, maybe only a day. firefighters are on the scene and expected to be here for a little while longer in san jose . >> a new development in bart contract talks, the unions say they are waiting for a response from the transit agency on the new counter proposal to bart's offer. the union negotiators say they sent the proposal to bart last might and are staying tightlipped over what the proposal contains and are threatening to strike by next

re-opening her daughter's case. the police will look at evidence in the 1988 abduction of a 15-year-old girl. the case was closed in 2009 after a serial killer confessed that he kidnapped and murdered amber. he claimed he left her body in arizona but it was never found. he died a month after making the confession. the family is not convinced of his v because there is in physical evidence linking him to amber. >> i am totally excited and feel like maybe my days of running into brick walls are over. >> police say there are new techniques to reexamine the evidence. >> family and friends gather to mark the 25th and was of the kidnapping of polly klaas from her petaluma home. richard davis broke into a slumber party and abducted her. he assaulted and killed her and is still on death row awaiting

execution. >> the man accused in the shooting death of a san francisco state student is due in court to answer charges. the 30-year-old is being held without bail for murder and two other gun-related felonies. he shot and killed 20-year-old justin valdez as he got off a streetcar a week and a half ago. early that evening he threatened another man with a gun. a senator of his home turned up several guns including an illegal assault weapon. >> the case of a young the fire department will be reexamined. the 16-year-old was one of the three who died as a result of crash at san francisco airport on july 6. autopsy findings presentd to her family this week say she suffered fatal injuries to her head and pelvis.

at 53. today we will have a lot of high clouds and sunshine and twirl make for a colorful sunrise maybe not so colorful sunset because the pollution mixes out during the day and that brings beautiful colors in the morning. as we head through the morning and get closer to the sunrise at 7:00 high clouds and temperatures in the secretary but inland we are in the 70's and by 4:00 you are still in the mid-60's and you fall into the 50's and everyone need as jacket in the evening as we fall into the mid-to-upper 60's. moving forward tomorrow about the same as today and it could be breezy which hit the hills on friday and we will keep that in mind for high fire danger and warm on saturday upper 80's and mid-80's around the bay and the coast. saturday could be busy at the beaches. >> we had an accident on northbound 680 at sunol boulevard a single car crash has been moved to the shoulder that

was blocking one lane for a time. we have quiet conditions and plenty construction. in oakland, this is where we have construction crews on southbound 880 between embarcadero to high street lanes will be blocked until 5:00 this morning and traffic is slow in the northbound direction with projects there, as well, and that is wrapping up so some of the congestion is flowing. 280 from dallas city along the 280 extension into san francisco over to at&t park at king street you are at nine minutes and not a problem to get to san francisco. outside we have a picture of the san rafael drive coming southbound along 101 into central san rafael with a few headlights and early risers, but, so far, so good, with top speeds. >> two bay area dogs killed and their beds burned and it was all legal. but was it justified?

down to the south. from the east bay hills camera, clear air across the bay bridge and into san francisco. this is the back drop for the forecast, high clouds and mild sunshine today with temperatures short of average, cool and calm tomorrow morning but the wins start to pick up through saturday and we will have above-average temperatures and a higher fire danger so it will look in the south bay to be mid-to-upper 70's and a run at 80 in gilroy and los gatos and 75 in san jose and cupertino. the peninsula is low-to-mid 70's and to the coast, mid-to-upper 60's and 67 today at half moon bay and 64 in daly city and colma and near 70 in downtown and south san francisco and sausalito and mid-to-upper 70's through the north bay valley and ten degrees cooler at the coastline and low-to-mid 70's throughout the east bay shoreline and 72 in oakland

topping out at 80 in fairly and antioch and walnut creek and everyone else close in the mid-to-upper 70's in the east bay valley. the temperatures are like this morning, inland in the 40's the rest of us in the low-to-mid 50's and not so many high clouds as this morning so tomorrow the sunrise may not be so color will. a couple areas of low pressure and a broad trough to our north with the area of high pressure showing the jet stream squirting through bringing the high clouds and breezy pattern for today. the week shows high pressure developing to the north and winds are developing over our hills and why we have a heightened fire danger starting tomorrow through saturday. notice the temperatures mid-to-upper 80's friday, saturday, sunday. low-to-mid 80's around the bay and low-to-mid 70's at the coast. enjoy it.

good morning, everyone, we are light in the accident department as we look behind me with plenty of green on this map so mostly you are at top speeds seeing a buildup of some congestion in certain areas. as we take you to san jose this is where we have a construction project blocking the lanes until 6:00 northbound and southbound 880 to 280. you can see a wider view of san jose and everyone else is running at top speed: 101, 280, 85 looking clear. over the altamont pass we have slow-and-go traffic from tracy to dublin. we are still under 30 minutes to get you there. here is a picture of the drive at golden gate bridge from sausalito to san francisco. that drive is only going to take seven minutes. >> jacksonville international airport is back open after authorities removed what they call a destructive device. the airport in florida was shut

down for five hours after authorities found two suspicious packages, one in a parking garage and the other inside a terminal. one of the devices was "rendered safe." authorities have not said what it was. it started when a man said he had a bomb and he was taken into custody. >> the first sudden acceleration lawsuit filed against toyota could go to a los angeles jury. the 66-year-old man died four years ago when the camera crashed in a pole at 100 miles per hour because of unintended action sellation and blame toyota for not installing a brake override system. toyota said she stepped on the gas thinning she was stepping on the brake. >> coming up, bart closes a loophole that some people are using to cheat the system.

>> 49ers fan, time to pick the seat at 49 efforts new same in santa clara, the first of 45,000 seats to be installed in the lower bowl of the stadium yesterday, the red seats made in hayward and it will take 17,000 manhours to install all of the seats. when done the stadium will have the largest lower bowl in the nfl. officials are getting rid of a loophole that allows some to cheat on their fares. previously, people could purchase a clipper card with cash for as little as $5 and use the card until it was in the tellingive by up to $10 and people would throw the card away costing the system $25,000 a month. starting saturday bart does not allow users to exit with a negative balance. >> there is an odd smell around

hour table." police found and interviewed the producer who denies harming or making contact with the women in the video. the police department say it was designed to get a reaction from the public and posted something like this is not against the law. >> a 21-year-old livermore woman killed by a drunk driver saved the lives of three people through organ donations. she was a student, nursing student at chico state and was riding her bicycle from school library when a car hit her. police say a 19-year-old drunk driver was at fault. her mother says two babies in the bay area were given parts of her liver and a family trend received one of her kidneys. >> if you have high cholesterol a new class of drugs could be on the way that blocks the routine that helps the bad cholesterol remain in the bloodstream and lowers close troll -- cholesterol levels. it does not change the good cholesterol in some study. it could help patients who find
