matt? >> reporter: who says stanford and uc berkeley can't get along. professors from both universities teamed up on research and won the nobel prize for medicine. now you can as you're looking at your screen, the person on the left there is randy scheckman, a pro-ers in the department of molecular and cell biology at the university of berkeley. on the is right thomas sue doff, at stanford, won the 2013 nobel prize in medicine with another scientist from yale. they solved the mystery of how the cell organizes its transport system. scheckman discovered a set of genes for vehicle traffic and to release their cargo with precision. research helps in the study of neurological and immunological disorders as well as diabetes. besides the prest teen, the three professors will be splitting the $1.2 million prize. >> 4:32 now. just four days atway from the end of the 60-day cooling off

next, the new bay area site the good morning it is 4:43. the san francisco board of supervisors will begin debated today on whether to close the city's parks at night because of vandalism and homelessness. supervisor scott weeper has proposed a measure that would make city parks off limits between 10 at night and 5 in the morning. the san francisco examiner reports wiener says it is the only way to curb an estimated $1 million a year loss from vandalism and illegal dumping. homeless advocates oppose the measure. if the board's land use and economic development committee

approve the measure today, the full board could vote on it october 22nd. a new effort is under way in the south bay to make san jose's police watchdog agency more visible. these ads encouraging san jose residents to report questionable behavior by city police officers, are beginning to appear on santa clara vta buses, put up by the office of the independent police auditor. the focus is on lines across east san jose and downtown which city leaders identified as hotspots of police activity u the auditor's office says they want to be visible in communities that experience high levels of crime and police attention. well, we have heard lots of talk lately on sports teams moving but this one is new. and it involves a different oakland team. the raiders are contemplating the naval station in concord as a possible new home. more on the rush and who is behind the push for a new location. >> reporter: no secret the oakland raiders are in the mark forth a new home.

jose, los gatos, half moon bay, 46 degrees. definitely feeling the cooler temperatures along the coast. our winds right now, very calm across the bay area, we see five miles per hour in oakland, seven in santa rosa. and taking a look at our high today across the bay area, going to be in the upper 70s to the lower 80s, as we head along the peninsula, you still see those temperatures topping out into the upper, mid-70s in san francisco. 68 degrees in downtown, we take you into the north bay you 78 degrees, santa rosa. we head into the east bay you 72 degrees in oakland. as we push inland, that is where we are going to see highest temperatures, toasty over the weekend. but 80 degrees in pittsburg. our overnight lows pretty much going to be in the lower to mid-50s. as we take a look right now as my accuweather seven-day forecast, on wednesday, seeing the possibility of showers and then dries out on thursday, warming up by friday and into the weekend. all right. now let's see what's happening

it is now 4:53. look that evacuees are being allowed to return to the camp pendleton marine base as firefighters continue to bat wildfire that's just 15% contained. the fire broke out saturday afternoon in hot, dry, windy conditions. flames have chewed up 1500 acres so far. four buildings on the base in san diego county have suffered minor damage. delta airlines is still trying to figure out how a 9-year-old boy flew from minneapolis to las vegas without a chaperon or a ticket. airline officials say the boy acted as though he was part of a family while going through the screening process. he then distracted an airline boarding employee before slipping onto the plane. the crew got suspicious because the child did not match their passenger manifest. the boy i who is apparently a run asituation, in protective
