agriculture department is threatening to shut down three central valley poultry processing plants linked to an outbreak that sickened nearly 300 people. usda has given foster farms until tomorrow to dell the -- tell the department how it will fix the problem, so far the company has not recalled products. usda says the conditions in the plants could pose a serious ongoing threat to public health. the cdc says the outbreak is serious enough that it's called in experts furloughed in the shut down to respond. some of the strains are resistant to antibiotics. most of the people sickened are here in california. more than 40% of those who took ill had to go to the hospital. abc news medical editor says cooking the meat to 165 degrees will kill germs and we all need to get into that habit. >> over half of all chickens are contaminated with either salmonela or another dangerous germ.

california high school relocated dozens of students to new classrooms while they investigate potential health risks on campus. parents at malibu high demanded classes moved after three teacher who's worked in the same building were diagnosed with thyroid cancer, reports say other eachers -- teachers experienced thoi roid -- thyroid problems three years after the district moved dirt that tested positive for lead and pesticides. >> i'm glad they're going to relocate the kids out of that building that has the most impact with mold or whatever is in there that. is g i didn't get an answer about how quickly they're going come back with test result autos officials now saying mold tests will be completed by friday and they plan to conduct a volume teary health survey. a warning for pregnant
