>> here's bart, we are relying on them as a public service. >> and you can post your video to twitter or instagram and you can share them on our facebook page. a local costco store is recalling almost 40,000 pounds of rotisserie chicken that may be contaminated with salmonella. kirkland farm rotisserie chicken soup, chicken leg quarters and chicken salad are also subject treat recall. they were sold in south san francisco at the costco store between september 11th about september 23rd. the salmonella outbreak connected to the foster farms chicken is still growing. 317 cases are now in 20 states, plus puerto rico. nearly three quarters of reported cases are here in california.

with the new law. a law that also requires safety briefs for passengers. >> governor brown has vetoed legislation that would have imposed the country's toughest restrictions on gun ownership. it was part of a firearms package approved by lawmakers after mass shootings in other states. it would ban the sale of most semiautomatic rivals with attachable magazines. they did approve a bill making california the first state to ban lead in bullets by hunters. they are zeroing in on a san jose neighborhood. evergreen district is in the east foothills of san jose. one of the victims is a well-known entertainer. abc7 news reporter vic lee has the story. >> it can be right here and that door. >> reporter: kristen showed us how the burglars broke into her home three weeks ago. as a home security camera shows, two young men showed up at the

street in the backyard trying to open one of the small windows. so she, like a good neighbor, opened her window and yelled at them and startled them and they took off running. >> because of the police staffing shortage, burglaries are now the lowest priority among the department's crimes. >> we have a public safety crisis here and things like burglaries are going uninvestigated and they are running rampant. >> burglar lars are taking advantage of that. vic lee, abc7 news. the man arrested for beating an nfl star's son could face additional charges now that the baby has died. he beat the two-year-old son of minnesota vikings running back adrian peterson. it happened wednesday evening at his mother's home in south dakota. she was not there at the time. the baby showed injuries consistent with being beaten or

shaken. adrian player plans to play in tomorrow's game. >> football is something i will always fall back on. it gets me through tough times. i've been around the guys in here. that's what i need. >> peterson has seen tragedy before. a drunk driver killed one of his brothers when he was eight and another brother was shot to death months before his rookie season. officials in monterey county say computer hackers may have obtained the personal information of tens of thousands of county residents. the monterey county harold reports a tommuter con taping the names, social security numbers, addresses and dates of birth of more than $114,000 was hacked in march. department officials say it took seven months to notify residents because officials had to complete their investigation first. starting next month, google plans to put poem's personal information in online ads. yesterday they announced a change to terms of service as of november 7th. means if you posted a review on

it's not as widespread as yesterday. it's confined more to the shoreline so it will burn off throughout the late morning hours once again. emeryville, east bay hills camera, i should say, where it is nice and dark. the official sunrise not until about 715. san francisco down to 50 degrees. oakland good morning, 53. we are in the upper 40s from san carlos to san jose with 48 in los gatos. half moon bay a little bit in the way of fog but the visibility is fine. add about five miles. but the visibility has been decreased from sonoma county all the way down through watsonville. less than a half-mile. here's a look from our exploratorium camera. it's quiet out there. low 40s in santa rosa. so it's pretty chilly up in the north bay with upper 40s in napa. check out the 39 in novato. and contrast that up toward the delta. 50 there. 45 in concord and numbers around the livermore valley dropping into the low 40s. we are cool ehrhoff than we were yesterday due to the clear sky and the calm winds.

in fact, 7 degrees cooler in livermore this morning and much of the north bay. certainly feeling like fall with those nights much, much longer. and the sun angle is definitely lower. we aren't looking at such strong solar radiation. as a result, kind of tough to burn back the low clouds and fog this time of year. but we will and we will look for a nice afternoon. but a little warmer tomorrow. a ridge of high pressure moves over the bay area and it's going to stay with us and allow for increasing temperatures called beach weather through a good portion of next week. we have one more disturbance, though, that is allowing for the low clouds and fog and the cool averages. winds a little bit breezy along the coast. take a look what happens for the week ahead in oakland. it's been comfortable. a little cool to start. but as you look at the high temperatures tomorrow in the low 70s, one of the cooler days as you noticed. we are climbing through the upper 70s. 79 on wednesday. a slight dip on thursday. really a pleasant week ahead.

>> a federal judge's ruling may let san jose drag major league baseball into the courts over the proposed move to the south bay. the judge rejected the city's claim that major league baseball violated anti-trust laws by blocking the a's move to san jose. but the judge ruled the city can sue the league for interfering with an agreement to build a new stadium for the aids that. could mean an embarrassing trial for baseball and its commissioner. >> major league baseball will be force today open up its books and show the citizens of san jose what has caused this four and a half year delay. >> in a statement, major league baseball said it's confident the

lost customers, and put hiring on hold because the pain of this republican shut down has trickled down to their bottom lines. it's hurt the very citizens that our government exists to serve. that's why a growing number of reasonable republicans say it should end now. >> the president remains optimistic republicans and democrats at odds over the government shut down can accomplish a lot together once the shutdown ends and the nation's debt limit is increased. a lawrence, livermore lab will send home more than 5,000 of its employees if the government shut down does not end. the mercury news reports they will stall all of their scientific work and send homeworkers by wednesday 23 it is not resolved. the facility is the second largest employer in alameda county behind berkeley. roughly 6,000 people work at the lab. unlike federal employees, they will not get retroactive pay when the shutdown ends. one of our most iconic

national parks will be back open today and another may join it. new york officials have announced the statute of liberty will reopen. the park will pay the park service over $60,000 a day to fund employees working at the park. officials in at least four other states are asking for permission to reopen parks within their national parks, including the grand canyon and mount rushmore more. california has decided against using state money to reopen marks like yosemite. the investigation into july's air crash is on hold due to the government shut down. they have scheduled two investigative hearings, one on the crash that killed two people back in july. that's because nearly all of the agency's 400 employees are furloughed. hundreds of accident investigations are on hold until workers return. five days after losing a dog at san francisco international airport, air canada is under fire again. on monday an employee for the airline apparently disregarded

come monday, though, wait and see if there will be another bart strike. we will see how that commute shapes up, if it does, in fact, occur. the good news about today, no bart strike. the trains are running and we also have some pretty decent, mild weather out there. >> and this is about as quiet as it gets. it's been very, very quiet the past couple of days. that trend continues. as we take a look at live doppler 7hd. we are waiting for a warmup but there's one system that has to move on through. we are looking at low clouds and fog of that returned. but just patchy this morning. yesterday they were widespread. the marine layer was at about 2,000 feet deem. it's less than 1,000 feet deep this morning and that means a quicker burn-off for you. temperatures ranging from the mid-40s on the peninsula to lower 50s in oakland. 48 los gatos. good morning half moon bay, 50 for you. visibility five miles half moon bay. san francisco cool at 50 but chillier conditions in the north bay.

exploratorium camera and we are looking at temperatures dropping into the upper 30s from novato. napa is about 12 degrees warmer. not too far away. we are still looking at the fog, allowing for temperatures to stay in the 40s. visibility anywhere from a half-mile to quarter mile up in santa rosa. concord and livermore in the low 40s. a chilly start with you with the clear skies. we are definitely cooler, especially in our east bay valleys and on the peninsula. seven degrees colder this morning. we had widespread fog yesterday and that did act like a blanket to keep us more insulated. and at the airport we are five degrees warmer. here's a look from the emeryville camera. from that perspective you can see the low clouds, but they are situated just patchy along the coast. we will look for warmer temperatures to come our way tomorrow. yes, we are still anticipating the warmest weather into the early part of next week. but even tomorrow about a four-degree jump in temperature. here's this little short wave. it's a system that will be passing through the bay area. that will allow for localized,

breezy conditions and temperatures still to stay a little bit below average. 60s and 70s. but in san jose, the week ahead, let's look at temperatures tomorrow. coming up two degrees. but by monday we are into the upper 70s. 9 on tuesday. the warmest day of the week should be wednesday at 80. then by this time next week we are where we are today. we will enjoy a couple degrees of warming each and every day. statewide, then, temperatures are ranging from the cool upper 50s still at the coastline. but we will see partly cloudy skies here. santa cruz into the mid-60s. 80 in fresno with 74 in los^angeles. closer to home, highs ranging from the upper 50s half moon bay, 64 in san francisco. low 70s return for vallejo. about 74 in napa. you head down the peninsula, a nice day with 71 in palo alto and san jose. a couple things going on on the peninsula. starting out chilly for the san carlos art and wine festival.
