we have been talking to people who are changing their sleep patterns so they can find out how they are getting to work each day. i went to bed at 10:00 and i woke up at 2:00 and i turn on my phone and...you know, got the good news and i said, wow, they are not striking. that is good. i don't have to drive. >> she says she hates driving to the city. other people say they don't have that as an option, they are not sure what though would do without bart. we talked to a woman who says she is over it. she is ready for a deal, he is ready for life to return to normal. today could be that day. they did not set a strike dead line, the first time we have seen that happen. riders could see their pain come to an end and could get a full night's sleep but who knows, we will keep you posted.

strike. a.c. transit bus drivers, mercks and dispatchers are threatening to walk off tomorrow at midnight if contract talks are not resolved. union members previously voted down a tentative deal their leaders negotiated. at issue is the cost of h care and worker safety in light of recent shootings inviting a.c. transit buses. >> san jose firefighters say downed power lines created a hazardous situation that hamper efforts to put out a barn fire last night. the large barn was engulfed when fire crews got this at 10:45. the barn was used as a furniture restoration work 140 and brought down power lines and firefighters had on stay away because of safety. there were no reports of injuries. 9 fire was declared under control after to hours. >> a triple shooting in san francisco neighborhood has turned into a homicide investigation. three people were shot at 7:30

last night with one dying overnight. police spent the evening talking to witnesses and gathering evidence. no arrests, yet. >> five gang members have been arrested in connection where a drive-by shooting that killed a santa cruz boy in august of last year. the 19-year-old and four other underage teens were arrested on monday. the prosecution said the 45 gang members shot a 12-year-old to death. he was not a documented gang member but investigators say he did have some familiarity with the gang lifestyle and that likely led to the shooting. >> work will resume today at the stadium in santa clara following the death of a worker. a 60-year-old man from we get a view of accident scene. the roth managers will hold a meeting this morning with crews to discuss the accident and

>> adding to the fears of a crippling strike, a.c. transit bruce drivers could walk off the job on thursday. the bus agency played a critical role when bart went on strike in july. our reporter is in oakland. nick? >> the people who depend on buses the most will be these who be most impacted. that is because some choose buses as a lifestyle choice and others choose it as a way to get in and around the county. a.c. transit is a headache for thousands if they were to stop rolling. on monday, they submitted a 72-hour notice of a strike for thursday if a deal was not reached before then, whereas a strike is never con veteran cent the tomorrowing is particularly bad because it could mean a double start if a deal between bart management and unions is not reached. the transit union whichent ares bus drivers and mechanics and dispatchers says it is the

district's move. they are more concerned about security. >> we have more sheriffs visible or they have more sheriffs that are giving a reduced response time. >> it is one thing after another. >> their decision to strike came as a surprise because the bus line and the unions had two agreements after the contract expired in june. bus drivers in other unions rejected the deals. a.c. transit provided a critical link in the first week of july carrying more than 1,000 people each day and was expected to pick up most of the weight of dismissed riders during a bart shut down. what we do not know is whether or not that bart strike will happen. if that bart strike happens and the a.c. transit strike happens, we are talking about up to 400,000 commuters that could be

displaced. in oakland, for abc7 news. >> thank you. the city of livermore is moving forward with a new law to crack down on drug houses in rental properties. our media partner, the "contra costa times" reported they have voted in favor of the ordinants classifying illegal drug sales, storage and manufacturing as public nuisance. it gives the city authority to pursue legal action against landlord whose look the other way and refuse to address the activity. the council will make a decision on the ordinance at the october 28 meeting. >> bart has run out of the midnight oil so what we have, though, speaking of bart, we have 40 trains running on time and we have a couple of delays, one delay on the fremont lane in the richmond direction and a delay on the richmond line in the fremont direction. we are tracking those and that
