>> they are still talking. it appears that everyone is frustrated by the negotiations. especially bart riders trying to plan if they have to find another way to work in the morning. the trains are running today. now, this it could be the presence of the federal mediator keeping the nexts going. the only statement was comments from cohen announcing progress was made and trains will run all day. the unions have been more vocal about what is going on behind closed doors saying they were encouraged. >> bargaining still. coming back tomorrow. we are still there. that is an indication we are bargaining. >> the unions commented on the frustration for workers and riders because of the late notice of the potential strike. the president said she shares the same frustration they have not yet reached an agreement. talks ended at 1:00 o'clock a.m.

and they a expected to be back here, both sides, at 10:00 this morning. >> thank you, to add to the headaches for commuters, the transit workers could go on strike tomorrow waiting to see if governor brown will issue a cooling-off period in their talks now stalled over employee contributions for insurance. if there is a bart strike, bart plans to run 200 buses from nine stations: el cerrito, concord, lafayette, walnut creek, west oakland, dublin/pleasanton, san leandro, hayward and fremont. you need a round trip ticket in advance and car pool lanes on interstate 80, 880, 680 are extended from 5:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. and the chop says officers will not write tickets outside of regular car pool hours unless there is a strike. san francisco bay ferry will have 12 boats rather than the eight and will help reduce congestion.

the san mateo bridge is quiet and outside we go a look at the bay bridge toll plaza where we are wide open and a few more cars funneling in than a few minutes ago and we have eastbound construction but so far, so good, and it sounds like a top down kind of a day right new. warmer weather? >> you need the sunscreen. especially at the beaches taking advantage of the warm sunshine there. live doppler 7 hd shows no worries. no rain. no fog. no clouds. nothing as far as any adversity weather-wise getting an. this is how it looks from mount tamalpais. not so breezy as yesterday. sausalito is right here and san francisco. there is the bay bridge. we use this to talk about our first forecast including high clouds. the system moves to the east and as warm as yesterday: 78 to 81 inland. around the bay from 74 to 80. from 66 at bodega bay to 74 in half moon bay along the coast.

kristen? eric? >> breaking news. a family is safe in pleasanton hill after escaping explosions and a massive fire at their home. abc7 news reporter katie marzullo is at dove court. >> we are closer to the home now so you can see how bad the damage is. if you look on the drive you can see the cars and a lost drama associated with the cars. firefighters are working hard. look at video. there were explosions. the chief says that is because of the steering column that pops and exploded and water makes it worse so they have to take their time and cool it down and let it do its time and act like fireworks to get the fire under control. i believe the fire started after 1:00 o'clock this morning in the sideyard and it burns into the garage and into the at tick and the drive. the mom, dad and daughter will

lucky to get out. there was more going on than they thought. it melted a gas main so there was a gas leak. the fire also brought down a power behind which firefighters say was the worse -- worst part. >> some crews were holding back because it was creating standing water. we let the car fires burned because necessity were not exposed to anything else but we did not want water on the ground where the power lines were that would energize the area. >> the firefighters were working the entire time with a downed line but pg&e was able to turn the power off to that house. you can see they pulled you'll of the insulation from from the attic and they will be here for hours because it will rekindle. they have to make sure there is no fire danger. the red cross is on the scene and neighbors helping them out

in the wily morning hours. >> than you, a these-year-old and one-year-old are home safe this morning after being kidnapped by someone who stole their family's s.u.v. in san francisco. the thief drove the children a few miles from 20th in the mission to sweeney in portola neighborhood. a neighbor discovered the car blocking his driveway and spotted the two kids alone in the car trapped into their child car seats and the engine was still running. >> i called 1991 and -- i called 9-1-1 and they said don't touch anything. >> it is horrifying. i have a six and three-year-old, so to imagine someone would take my child and deposit them somewhere else. >> the father was with them when the car was stolen and the kids were reunit flighted after being checked out at san francisco general. >> the cupertino city couple has naply approved apple's plan to build a new space shipshaped

headquarters. the 2.8 square million foot campus fulfills a landmark for silicon valley the dream of steve jobs. it will house 14,000 workers. a vote to approve the building is november 15th. apple will demonthish the existing buildings by the end of this year. >> today on the peninsula, pg&e will vent natural gas in the neighborhood devastated by a deadly explosion that claimed eight lives. crews have been working at the intersection of estate drive in the crest more neighborhood and there could be a gas odor during the process. crews expect to start at 10:00 a.m. and finish around 1:00 o'clock p.m. and pg&e says this is normal upkeep and notified residents of the scheduled work. pg&e is headed back to court offer the natural gas pipeline

over safety concerns. the utility will argue that a line is safe that has been shut down and give the utilities commission updated safety certification to try to prove it is safe. a court order to close the line came after an internal pg&e memo expressed concerns that the pipeline could explode like the one in sap -- san bruno. >> bart trains are running. how do the roads look? >> we have areas of construction. this is going to last until 6:00 a.m. and it could cause a problem with the commute. northbound and southbound long 880 between forest avenue and 280 we have lanes blocks off and detours in place, as well, if you need to get around it should not be a problem. mass transit, running on time and we hope it stays that way and muni all looking clear and ace train running on time without delays and we have a buildup of traffic over the altamont pass and i have more on that in a little bit.

start somewhere fresh. >> covering santa rosa, berkeley, san jose, and all the bay area, this is abc7 news. >> federal health officials are alerting doctors to the recall of injectable antibiotic because of a concern over floating particles found in vials of the drug including metal and hair. experts say injecting the antibiotic could result in blood clots causing stroke, heart attack and other catastrophic problems. it was distributed to hospitals, pharmacies and medical suppliers across the nation. >> the fremont city council has postponed a vote on whether to install surveillance video

around the city. according to our media partner the counsel decided to wait because of unease over funding the cameras with federal housing grants intended to help the pore. last night, police asked the city council to install up to 20 cameras in low-to-mid income areas, miss say it is in response to a spike in home burglaries and not intended to target a specific group of people. the council will spend a too months gathering more information. a worker at los angeles international airport is under arrest in connection with dry ice explosions. the suspect has been identified at 28 years old who worked as a ramp supervisor at lax. the lapd says bennett took dry ice from a plane and placed it in a both that exploded on sunday night and monday night at lax. a colleague tells use that bennett was nervous about an upcoming merger and he spoke of possibly starting his own airline company.

slide through the sierra that will bring us a few high clouds and chip away our high temperatures not only today but also tomorrow and then we will get warmer again by a few degrees sunshine and it will be dry through the weekend. here is a look at what will happen as far as our temperatures, a few minutes ago talking how today would be one to five degrees cooler than yesterday and you have an idea of how warm it was yesterday with the drop of temperatures we will be two to nine degrees warmer-than-average and half moon bay at 65 and 74 today, san rafael, normally 73, and 78. we will look at why that is happening, high pressure is dominating our weather and the inside slider will push the high far enough away that the offshore flow weakens and that is why with drop our temperatures. we will see the numbers in our neighborhood down in the south bay, 76 in sunnyvale and 82 in gilroy and from 74 in milbrae to 80 in los altos, morning and southbound on the peninsula and low-to-mid 70's along the coast

"groundhog day." for three days you have gone to bet with the threat and woke up to no strike but, also, in deal. abc7 news reporter matt keller, begins coverage in oakland where talks will resume. matt? >> another day. same situation. the federal mediator says progress is being made. still there is no deal. the good news for riders, the trains are running today. the federal mediator announced there would be no strike at 10:20. the unions both commented on the frustration for workers and rider because of the late notice. negotiators are also facing long days at the bargaining table. talks did not end until 1:00 o'clock a.m. after negotiations lasted until 5:30 in the morning the day before. >> it is late. people have to have fresh minds to go over the proposals. >> trains are running. we will keep at it.

this morning, bart is running but riders are still frustrated. >> obnoxious not knowing what i am going to be doing in the morning and whether i drive in or wake up earlily to drive in or take bart. >> i help they don't strike and i help bart gets everything straightened out. there are a lot of people that don't have rides. it makes it tough if everyone. >> we have met many people who do not have any other option than bart and they do not know how they would get to work. bart has buses on stand by to shuttle people from the east bay to the city if there is a strike but for those who travel around in the east bay there are not many options, they do not have butts for those people. the hope is there will not be a strike but although it does keep getting postponed, we are not finding a lost confidence among riders. a woman told us she still thinks that there will be a strike but maybe not until next week.

terminal to highlight how much people with disabilities rely open bart and a.c. transit. an employee says the bart strike in july was devastating for many people who are disabled. >> state authorities confirm a pre-school teacher in fremont inappropriately touched a child and the state has cited the preschool. this happened on mission boulevard in august. a male staff member touched a child inappropriately during nap time. the child services said he admitted to rubbing her stomach and moving his hand too far down her body. parents gathered last night to ask questions of the incident. a spokesperson said this the school immediately took action when they received the complaint. >> we reached out to the lengthing. we immediately reloved the teacher from the situation. that teacher was terminated. the police department was brought in to conduct an investigation and it was con in

a timely manner. >> the preschool will inform parents of the report for the next 12 more and the employee was not charged. >> a san francisco man who was called the poster boy of crime in the city has been implicated in an august killing. the 36-year-old wilson is charged with killing after a shooting in the sunnyvale housing complex august 23. police did not release the details of what led to the arrest. in 2004 ill son was a suspect in a 1999 killing of a 2-year-old man in the bayview but there wasn't enoughest for the d.a. to file charges. wilson is scheduled to be arraigned for the murder later on today. >> new numbers released by the new online health insurance exchange show the program is getting a lot of consumer attention. last week, the website logged more than 600,000 visits more than 45,000 called into the service centers. it allows you to compare map by
