over the weekend as the bart strike stretches into a fourth day. >> commuters line up early for alternate transportation as the bart strike sends thousands scrambling. >> you can see on the upper deck it is a slow commute headed into san francisco. it is only 6:00. we will try to get through this together. >> happy monday morning. now an update on the commute. >> we had an indication it would be bad the last bart strike how crazy the traffic was going to be. today is no exception much it is much worse than friday. i have a report of a hit-and-run accident at the bay bridge toll plaza. hopefully it has been moved to the shoulder but westbound 80 beyond the tolls you can see how all of the traffic and the freeways that feed into the bay bridge toll plaza are slammed.

it is going to take you 20 minutes to head from emeryville to san francisco. land ahead. you can see i-80 from berkeley in the westbound direction is packed bumper-to-bumper traffic. nothing but headlights. from emeryville to the bay bridge the traffic is slow pushing to the island interest san francisco. it is going to be chilly so pack your sweater. >> temperatures are in the mid-to-upper 40's in most of those neighborhoods. we have fog this morning with low clouds. visibility is lowest in the north bay at 1.5 miles and novato and two miles in napa, and in the south bay, three miles in san jose, but the east bay valley: clear. the next 12 hours around the bay we are starting to upgrade at 51

>> we are watching the bay area roads today. dick epstein is on the eastern span of the bay bridge and it is looking smooth. dick? >> they are. as soon use clear the metering lights the westbound traffic is moving at or close to the speed limit. i am just now coming into the tunnel. traffic is slowing. we getting slow traffic on the san francisco side of the bay bridge as you check your ride into san francisco westbound. the good news is there is fog and we have on the upper sessions of the shower, it is cleared but it was an interesting drive this morning to see how this new lighting system performed in the fog.

fast track so they are waiting in the cash-paying lanes like other folks are and that will add to the commute time. headed into san francisco quickly and i can show you the traffic is moving along beautifully and we do not see areas of slow downs on 101. usually we see the patch of slowing between the 280 and 680 split at the nimitz. but it is quiet right now. no accidents to report. from golden gate bridge to the bay bridge and to the san mateo bridge. golden gate bridge shows heavy traffic coming from sausalito. we have a report of debris in the lanes at the bay bridge toll plaza and it can slow it down. from emeryville to san mateo bridge, you can see traffic is loaded up. coming from foster city into hayward, our emeryville camera toward the bay bridge traffic is slow and sluggish making the push to san francisco.

right now it is 25 minutes from emeryville to the city. mike? >> thank you. now a look at live doppler 7 hd, we have flight arrival delays in sfo because of the low clouds and an hour and 14 minutes. in the north bay, want out for low clouds you can see the clouds hanging above the western span of the bay bridge this morning and clouds will make it, slow to get sunshine and the coast may never see sunshine and slow cooling trend all this week but the low will stay far enough offshore we do not have wet wet again. notice the coast interest san francisco and richmond is below average mid-60's to 69 in san mateo and low-to-mid 70's for the rest of the bay shore into the south bay. and mid-to-upper 70's in the north by and upper 70's to 80 in the not bay valley.

dublin we are over an hour to make the westbound commute. it slows up again when you make it over to the nimitz on 80. southbound highway 84 coming up to the sunol grade we have tons of folks on the road and certainly by the bay bridge and the feeder freeways coming into the bay bridge it is packed. as we travel over to the san mateo bridge we have a four car crash pushed to the shoulder at the toll plaza. this is the drive coming southbound along highway 101 into central san rafael and you can see it is nothing but headlights. a very long commute this morning. mike? >> good morning, everyone, we will look at the bay this only, upper 40's to 50's. sunshine by noon. a quick warming through 4:00 and

pickets continue to hold the line. they have been here since the strike started four days ago. the bart strike and the second day, the national transportation safety board has taken over the investigation of the death of two engineers hit and killed by a bart train. last night bart employees hold a moment of silence to honor the two men who lost their lives after being hit by a bart train on saturday. the victims were identified as contract worker larry daniels and christopher shepard a member of the union. >> i showed up and some of my coworkers were in tears. we didn't know the person involved but you work in that environment and you know the ramifications. >> christopher shepard was a senior track engineer and worked for bart he years. officials say he and daniels were inspecting the tracks near walnut creek when a bart train on a machine run hit and killed

them. the ntsb is leading the investigation and expect to be in walnut creek inspecting the trains and safety records of the operating train for the next few days. the operator of that train could be interviewed as early as today and the inspector in charge told me yesterday that they may be able to wrap up the first phrase of their investigation the next ten days but the final report may not be done for up to six months. there will be an update this afternoon and we will start reporting that today at 4:00. at lake merritt for abc7 news. >> thank you, now the latest bart talks. the labor strike is entering its four the day and the board will hold a special closed door meeting this afternoon to discuss the strike and negotiations. as of right now no negotiations are scheduled. bart's two big of the unions delivered a counter proposal to system managers including changes to workplace rules but bad officials say they have not

received the latest offer. >> as we have seen many bart riders can cannot take the rails are turning to ferries. we have coverage from jack london square in oakland. jonathan? >> the san francisco bay ferry service is asking commuter for patience. this is the 6:45 ferry that leaves in ten minutes. it formed in moments after the line for the 6:00 ferry left. the ferries will be at capacity and running more than normal. they usually operate eight and are operating 12. they carry 19,000 people which is a drop in the bucket of the 400,000 displaced birth riders. you can see there are some people running for exercise and some of running for the commute

but a lot of people running to get to the line and not any guarantee they will get on the boat because this is a first-come-first-serve aface. you need to have a ticket or clipper card to board. you cannot buy tickets on board. this has caused people to change their morning lands and people are here for the first tie. >> this is terrible. terrible. terrible. i am taking a boat at 5:30 in the morning rather than damping bart at 6:20. i am paying a lot more and more tired. >> i take the ferry but i would be taking the 7:10 federal i -- ferry but i got up at 4:00 to get this ferry to get parking. >> how do you feel about taking a boat? >> i don't know how to swim...that is an issue.

from new jersey, governor chris christie and the administration has withdrawn the appeal of the gay marriage ruling clearing the way and removes the last obstacle as same-sex marriage got underway at midnight with the clerk's office opened over the weekend so couples could get a head start on the paperwork. new jersey is now the 14 the state to allow gay marriage. >> lot of kids get m&m's but some want the candy change. >> threat -- netflix is center stage on wall street. >> what a story, netflix will report results after the closing bell today and analysts say they could announce they have passed hbo in terms of paid subscribers bad news for fans. analysts say the company may need to race prizes and adjust

>> do not have sugar this morning. we do have a tweeter who says it took 45 minutes from san lenadro bart station on a bart charter bus to head into san francisco so it could be worse. 45 minutes is not too bad but look at this. here is a view of our east bay traveling along i-80 westbound through hercules and toward the maze it now has jumped up an extra ten minutes and it will take you more than one hour and 62 minutes to head from highway four to the maze and the other areas are at a standstill. you can see how slow that is, a 42-minute commute from walnut creek to oakland and the top speed is 25 miles per hour. at walnut creek, you can see the tail lights are barely moving in the southbound direction and we have a report of a crash

blocking two lanes and southbound 680 at willow pass, injuries are involved. >> good morning, everyone, we are tracking fog in the north bay at quarter-mile visibility in novato and three adequate others at napa, and clouds down the bay shore with flight arrival delays at an hour and 15 minutes and oakland and san jose is okay and san jose is three miles visibility. the only area with not a lot of cloud cover is the east bay valleys and looking from sutro back over the bay it is looking better. we have a slow cooling trend and air pressure will set up but it will keep the rain off the coast. we will stay high and dry again other than the coast. from mount tamalpais you can see the wonderful colors off to the east and livermore because of the east bay valleys seeing
