making news in america this morning -- health care firestorm. the fight over obama care shows no signs of slowing. the secretary at the center of it all breaks her silence. we're live in washington. trash talk. a key white house staffer, a member of the national security team, fired. all because of what he was tweeting. tainted treats. the fda sounding the alarms this morning after hundreds of thousands of pets are killed. scary stunt. people in one neighborhood got quite the scare when they looked up into the air. >> there is a hot air balloon on the north end of town. and there's a guy hanging from it.

good wednesday morning. we begin with growing tension in washington. and around the country over the health care website's rocky rollout. >> the face of obama care is coming to the president's defense. kathleen sebelius answered wide-ranging questions about the rollout in an interview with cnn. abc's tahman bradley live in washington with details. tahman? >> reporter: john and diana, good morning. secretary sebelius said that president obama didn't know about problems with the website until it went live. the secretary said she is frustrated and knows that high-tech experts from silicon valley are coming in to help. it's been a rough rollout. after three weeks, the healthcare.gov website woes continue. >> i couldn't get past the log-in screen. i had success creating an account, a couple day s after october 1st. and then, it never let me log in again. >> reporter: error messages and long delays. overnight, president obama

admitted the introduction has not gone smoothly. >> we have people working overtime in a tech surge to boost capacity. we're going to get it fixed. >> reporter: the secretary of health and human services, kathleen sebelius says 20 million people have used the website. about 500,000 accounts have been created. in an interview on cnn, sebelius attributed the glitches to extremely high volume. >> no one can be more frustrated than i am and the president. everybody wanted it to be smooth and easy. >> reporter: some in congress are pushing for a delay in the mandate that everyone have health insurance by march 31st or pay a fine. >> i'm convinced we're going to stop obama care. >> reporter: the president encourages patience. but some americans are fed up. >> people who don't even want to deal with it. and they don't think it's affordable with their income. and so, they are just going to take the penalty. >> reporter: time is running out

for the marketplace. americans without health insurance have until december 15th to enroll. so, their courage begins january 1st. diana and john? >> tahman bradley live for us in washington. thank you. in washington, a white house national security official has been fired after it was discovered he was behind a snarky twitter feed. jofi joseph was responsible for the tweets. his tweets insulted white house officials and criticized obama policy. he says he deeply regrets making the comments. the hero teacher from the nevada school shooting was remembered at a vigil last night. dozens came to st. paul's in sparks to remember the eighth grade math teacher and soccer coach who likely saved several lives. the shooter was a 12-year-old who brought the weapon from home. abc's cecilia vega learned that he may have been bullied. >> sort of. he got bullied a couple times.

and i saw kids pushing him around. and doing things to him. >> police say the shooters parents could be charged with a crime since the gun came from their home. world series gets going tonight in boston with the red sox facing off against the st. louis cardinals. obviously, a high-profile event with some major security concerns for both city and state agencies. fenway park is all decked out, ready for baseball. but when a major event happens in boston these days, no one can forget. [ explosion ] the marathon attack just six months ago, that killed 3 people and wounded 260 others. even though authorities don't have specific intelligence having concerns for the world series, they're not taking chances of a repeat. >> making sure that people don't leave things, backpacks or unattended packages. we're going to be on our toes to make sure it's a safe and security environment. >> reporter: and boston police are developing a secret weapon, the fans themselves. >> our fans will keep an eye on

one another and make sure that people are behaving in an appropriate manner. >> reporter: for boston's mayor, safety is all about everyone, from fans to police, being on the same page. >> a city that works together. that's what's so important. working together to accomplish anything. singularly, you can't do anything. that's why police, the community, all of us, that's what makes boston a safe city. >> reporter: on the field, players say they just want to get things started. even though, red sox manager john farrell says the attack and its aftermath, galvanized their team. >> it was an opportunity for the players to understand what they mean to this region. >> reporter: safety comes first. and the mayor is hopeful the sox bring home their third title since 2004. >> i'm secure in the fact that we'll get through this world series. and we'll see what happens next several days. >> and this morning, brand-new details about the brothers accused in the boston bombings. for the first time, prosecutors have said they have information

linking the suspect tsaranev to a triple murder. the revelation coming in a court document that was filed in the case against dzhokhar tsaranev. and now, to the latest on that little girl found living with gypsies in greece. dna from the girl does not match an international database of missing persons. the setback only deepens the mystery of the child known only as maria. investigators fear she may be among the millions of human trafficking victims. and her true identity may never be known. today is another big day for britain's royal family. >> prince william and duchess kate will be baptizing prince george this afternoon. lama hasan has the latest from london. good morning, lama. >> reporter: good morning to you guys. the most anticipated cristening ceremony begins at 3:00 p.m.

today. in front of members of the family and closest friends. it's a select guest list. the archbishop of canterbury will be baptisting the prince during the ceremony expected to last for 45 minutes. and breaking with tradition, and not opting for the usual crew. the royal couple chose a small chapel because it holds significant memories for william and kate. it was princess diana's resting place before she was buried. it was where her coffin laid before she was buried. it's where kate was confirmed in the church of england. it's a reason why they chose this small venue. it will be a momentous occasion. it will be four generation of the royals. it is the first time we'll see the little prince with the royal family since he was born in

appears to be a man dangling from a hot air balloon. >> it was quite the sight. he wasn't holding on for dear life. he was doing pullups. they were filming an ad for a new product. but it triggered numerous calls to 911. >> there's a hot air balloon on the north end of town. and there's a guy hanging from it. >> i swear there's a person hanging from it. >> we've gotten a few calls. we're in the area chechen. >> this is the new monkey bars. that can create a workout, including hundreds of feet in the air. >> got nice free publicity. the football fans caught on camera fighting after sunday's patriots/jets game. they're now facing charges. the video shows the altercation, in which a man in a jets jersey eventually punches a woman. all four people involved in that have been charged with simple assault and disorderly conduct.

they've been banned from all events at metlife stadium. and in chicago, notorious tv pitchman kevin trudeau has been jailed for not paying a judgment over his weight loss books. a federal judge rejected trudeau's impassioned plea for his freedom, telling the court he was broke. the ftc alleged that trudeau spent $12,000 on watches and jewelry. southern california police are asking for the public's help to catch a woman who tried to rip off a cab driver. the woman attacks the cabbie with a box cutter. the driver holds her off. she grabs a hammer. he continues to hold her off as she tries to assault him. he crashed the cab. that's when she took off and is still on the run. pet owners are being asked to think twice before feeding their four-legged friends jerky treats made in china. the fda says those treats are

linked to the deaths of 600 dogs and 10 cats. and other pets have been sickened by the treats. the agency is seeking help from pet owners and vets as it looks into the mysterious outbreak. a parent at a texas high school whose football team lost last week has filed a bullying complaint against the winning coach. >> the reason, the score was 91-0. but that coach benched his starters after 21 plays and kept to a conservative ground game. he let the clock run after halftime to let it bring to a merciful close. >> i would never ask our kids noed to play hard. i would never -- i would go out there and let them score. that's not what you want to teach kids. >> under texas law, the principal is required to investigate the bullying claims and file a public report. >> the team should have thrown the towel right in. like a boxing match. we give up.
