>> good afternoon. developing news. a stand justify with a wanted parolee ended after he wounded four police officers and a federal agent. 32-year-old samuel duran surrendered shortly after midnight after a nine-hour standoff. he was booked in the county jail this morning. an immigration and customs enforcement agency tried arresting him for a parole violation. he shot the agent in the leg and ran. four other roseville verse were injured. all but one has been treated and released from the hospital. police say he barricaded himself inside a home and began shooting at officers. >> the suspect shot through the side of the resident and through the open window at the officers. that's the way the officers received the injuries they received. >> the suspect's mother tells a

different story. she says the i.c.e. agent that confronted duran confronted him first. >> i just want to know where my baby is at. >> duran was checked out at a local hospital before being taken to jail. a nightclub employee in campbell is recovering from a gunshot wound following a shooting this morning. it happened just before 2:00 at the nightclub on orchard city drive. security guards confronted a group in the parking lot and asked them to turn down their music. at some point, the employee was shot. he is expected to recover. the group got away in two different vehicles. a dark late '90s chevy camaro. thousands of first responders are taking part in a

very realistic training exercise in the bay area called urban shield. part of their training involves a mock shooter on a school campus scenario. cornell bernard is live in san francisco with the details. cornell? >> 6,000 first responders are taking part in urban shield this weekend. one is happening here at the muni rail yard in stprafpblt it involves a mock terror plot on board a train. really the most talked about scenario is across the bay, the recreation of the school shooting. terrified students run from this elementary school after a gunman fires shots on campus. what you're watching is not real. it's only a drill. but the realistic situation is being created here, a vital exercise for first responders. >> we try to purposely to make it chaotic and a mess so when and if and hopefully not this

ever happens, teams will be ready. >> this training session one of many across the bay area part of urban shield, the largest real-life drill for police and fire in the country. sadly, this scenario comes just days after a school shooting in sparks, nevada, which left one teacher and a student shooter dead. >> this is one of those things if your organization is practicing on and you're not ready to con front it, you will find yourself in a bad situation some day. >> somebody help! >> angela volunteered to spend all day playing the part of a shooting victim. the prosthetic wound on her hand scarier than halloween makeup. >> i would probably hide. and i would be scared. and i would know that the deputies there, the officers would take care of it. >> police tell me the the school yard shooting they received

today was very valuable and something they hope they ever, ever have to use. thank you, cornell. a livermore man is in custody accused of owning child pornography. he was arrested thursday. they took him into custody after issuing a warrant to search his home tuesday. they found more than 70 images of child porn. they did not say how they targeted sherman but did say it was a thorough investigation. frightening moments this afternoon on san francisco's knob hill when a car careened out of control and hit a building. it happened on washington street near leavenworth at 1:00. a brand-new black mercedes-benz ended up on the sidewalk against an apartment building. police believe the driver was trying to back into a parking spot when she lost control. they aren't available to figure out how it happened because she grabbed her groceries and ran

away before emergency personnel arrived on scene. new accusations today by the the family of a woman found dead in the san francisco general hospital stairwell. their lawyer said 57-year-old lynn spalding's family made four requests to search the sf general campus for the missing patient after she disappeared. the attorney says those requests were ignored and that deputies did not conduct a thorough search. a sheriff's spokesperson declined to comment on the accusation. her body was found october 8th. a memorial was held this morning for the construction worker who was killed last week at the niners new stadium. he died when a bundle of steel construction rebar fell on him two mondays ago. the rebar was being used to reinforce concrete at the stadium construction site. this morning the construction firm coordinating the project held a memorial in his hometown. the 61-year-old was a truck

driver for ameristeel and was making a deliver when the accident happened. b.a.r.t. managers fought for years to hold on to a controversial policy making workers responsible for their own safety. despite fines and warnings from both state regulators and unions following a 2008 fatality linked to the policy, b.a.r.t. stuck with it. they indefinitely suspended the policy days a after two workers were killed by a b.a.r.t. train while inspecting tracks in walnut creek. they will hold a hearing next month on b.a.r.t. worker safety. federal authorities say transportation security is administration is wasting tax payer money. federal auditors find criminal investigators frequently do jobs that could be done by lower paid tsa employees. left unchanged it could cost $17.5 million or more over the

rates would go up from 50 cents to $1 an hour in garages. the city is also considering charging for parking on sundays and extending meters by two hours. the council is set to take up the issue in december. a part of southern california with a stinky problem on its hands is getting help in the form of high-tech stink sensors. residents have come to accept the rotten egg smell that comes from the weather. but when wind conditions and sea waters create "the perfect storm", it gets really meeting. smog regulators have approved a sulfide monitoring system to monitor the presence of hydrogen sulfide and would notify officials when levels get too high. >> we would be able to assess the data and communicate to the public that there are levels they should be concerned with.

they're hoping to avoid what happened last year when hundreds of concerned people called 911 to report the smell, thinking it was dangerous. temperatures here may be dipping as we get later into the year, but other parts of the country are starting to feel winter full on. freeze and frost warnings are in effect for a dozen states in parts of the midwest, mid atlantic and deep south. the freezing conditions have made driving especially treacherous. black ice has caused spinouts and traffic accidents. in cleveland, five inches of snow fell and residents saw widespread power outages. >> we've all been bored and pacing around because we're used to having our electronics on. >> you have to talk. >> i know. we were forced off in the same room. it was driving us crazy. >> there is more wintry weather to come.

it will plunge towards the northern rockies and plains bringing heavy snowfall in time for halloween. it's a typhoon people in japan need to worry about. it is lashing japan with wind and heavy rain. this shows some of the extreme conditions. people are waiting it out in evacuation shelters. they aren't taking any risks follow another typhoon that hit last week. it caused major mudslides killing 31 people. 12 people are still missing. turning to our weather here, a little bit of an increase for today. i'm guessing it's not going to last long. >> we were in the 80s. and mid and upper 60s near the coast. temperatures coming down, especially monday and tuesday. we'll get more on our accuweather seven-day forecast. 7 hd still picking up a little bit of fog sitting right near

chance of a shower or two. what you're really going to notice the the first part of next week is the big cooldown. as far as trick or treat, halloween night, it looks like it's going to be dry, which is good news. here's a look the the a our overnight temperatures. upper 30s to near 40 in the north bay. of course where the fog sits, san francisco and points inland, upper 40s to near 50 degrees overnight tonight. our fog forecast shows up like this. it redevelops 5:00 a.m. tomorrow and sits near the coast. a few high clouds there as well. this is what i want to show you, though. this is at 9:00 tomorrow morning. you can see the fog sitting near the coast. this will head to southern california. but look at this one. coming down near the spine of the sierra. this is 7:00 monday. the clouds will thicken up around the bay area. as this low continues to push to the south, a slight chance, a

slight chance some of that wraparound moisture could funnel towards eastern portions of our viewing area. east bay, possibly in the south bay. we will definitely keep an eye on the moisture probability. what you will definitely notice is temperatures will drop as much as 10, maybe as much as 15 degrees as we get into monday and tuesday. at the coliseum tomorrow, the raiders game, look for temperatures in the 60s. it will be a bit breezy. take the jacket. here's a look at our eyes for saturday. a few degrees. san jose, 72. the fog near the peninsula as well as the coast. san francisco, 63 tomorrow. petaluma, 68. oakland, 67 degrees. east bay, 76. monday and tuesday highs only in the 60s for monday with that slight chance of maybe a drop or

jackson made $160 million last year. and the man who helped create much of jackson's music wants a cut. legendary producer quincy jones is suing jackson's estate and sony music for more than $10 million. jones wants producer credits on the music for "this is it." and the cirque du soleil show. he said the songs were reedited for the recent project to keep him from receiving royalties and producers fees. san francisco joined the fun today attempting to set a world record dancing to a michael jackson song. ♪ of course i think you know the song is thriller. members of the san francisco evening rotary club dressed like zombies and danced. it was part of a worldwide effort to bring people together for dance and charity. funds raised in san francisco

highlights. it will be cool overnight with pockets of dense fog reforming. a slight chance of maybe a shower or two in some spots around the bay area on monday. monday, what we will all feel, though, is the cooler air mass that settles over the bay area. and it looks like now it will be dry for trick-or-treaters halloween night. overnight lows, upper 30s, low 40s. the north bay, pockets of fog. 50 for san francisco. speaking of fog, here's a look at our fog forecast. early morning plans, 5:00 tomorrow, look for the fog to move towards the bay. 10:00, the fog still sitting near the coast. by 3:00, still sitting there. east bay, that's where most of the sunshine will be for your sunday afternoon. here's a look at what we've been talking about. some of the forecast models keep changing.
