abc7 news starts with breaking news. >> the breaking news comes from san jose. >> woman dead after police say she was hit by a car in a driveway. abc7 news reporter joins us with details. >> the public information officer just arrived on the scene. he will give me an update in a few minutes. detectives from san jose traffic unit have arrived and leading the investigation. police confirm that at 2:30 this morning residents in the subdecision called police saying that they heard some type of arguing or screaming. when police arrived they found a woman dead in a driveway. now curing to officials, she was hut bit driver of a small ford s.u.v. it appears the driver pay have backed into the woman, pinning her against a garage door and killing her on impact. this is video you will see only

on abc7 news, the driver would was taken into police custody. police made the arrest on the scene and this is video of the driver. they sayerly -- they say early indication is she could have been under the influence. the driver was arrested under suspicion of driver under the influence and vehicular manslaughter. police are asking anyone with information contact the san jose police department. this makes the 34th traffic fatality in the city. detectives are still working the scene. i will have another report at 6:45. >> thank you, nick. >> the wins and then the demander because the winds are the big story. they gusting to 29 miles per

check out what the wind did overnight. there is amazing video from interstate 580. you can see the big rigs that the wind knocked over and topple over a travel trailer. this happened on eastbound 580 in address. it was quite a surprise to the people in the area. >> it is bad compared to most days, even if you get a couple hours of good wind but nothing compared we to what we have today. >> c.h.p. says one of the trucks was blocking the exit. they got it moved. they decided to leave one truck out there. it was so dark they want to wait until they can see it until they moved it. no one was hurt, just a lost shock. >> a large tree could not withstand the winds in antioch.

a celebrity chef is scheduled to testify in the attempted murder and car theft case of 19-year-old max wade charged with creating a lamborghini to impress a former classmate. the car belongs to a chef who had it in a repair shop. wade tried to kill 9 girl he was trying to impress after she rejected him. against attorney say there is no evidence droll linking -- directly linking wade to the crime. >> an 83-year-old at risk woman is missing and last seen leaving her home yesterday in the afternoon. she has not been seen since she left for a walk. show does suffer from short-term memory loss and has diabetes. show has last seen wearing a brown hooded sweatshirt.

this is traffic at san rafael on 101 moving pretty well. the winds have really died down from how they were howling overnight. mike? >> tomorrow is the first anniversary of super storm sandy and the landfall on the eastern seaboard that devastated new york and new jersey. a year later, recovery is well underway. pictures show communities in the storm zone before and after. you can see the strong come back a year later. sandy is the nation's second most expensive weather disaster causing $65 billion in damage. the storm also left 182 people dead. >> also, a 25-year-old man is fading five couldn'ts -- counts of murder. he stabbed his cousin's wife and his four children in brooklyn. he was living with the cousin's family and picked up a meat

we will have our warmest weather thursday and friday before another weakened system moves in. through the san ramon valley through pleasanton we have temperatures in the mid-to-upper 40's and livermore is 52. we are 51 in oakland. 51 in hayward. 52 in san francisco. 54 is warmest at san carlos. 39 in napa. tomorrow morning and wednesday morning you could be neitherring with frost. temperatures today are in the mid-50's at coast and low 60's for everyone else but livermore is 64 and san jose at 63. tonight, low 50's inland but the chance lingers a stray shower. the wind is the santa cruz mountains, possibly even the east bay hills that could see a stray shower through tomorrow. the boast chance of seeing measurable rain is in the higher

the metering lights are on at the bay bridge toll plaza. there is still a wind advisory. that is the kind of morning we have. >> we have had advisories on several bridges. mike? >> you noticed it drive across the bridges this morning that was it breezy across the bay bridge. sfo has the fastest gusts up to 29 miles per hour. the coast is 29 miles per hour, all during the morning commute. the altamont pass will be at 35-miles-per-hour gusts. the next 12 hours, breezey at the bay. a stray shower is possible only reaching 60. inland, the next 12 hours, it is calmer and 44. and stray shower and only 60 today. grab a coat at 57 in the evening with an isolated shower.

as when the winds flipped several big rigs. >> what a mess. check out this video of what the wind did. the gusts were strong enough to knock over big rigs. six of them. toppleed. it happened 580 eastbound in tracy. it caused problems. a truck blocked an exit. a worker who talks to the truckers passing through tells what he was hearing. >> they were trying to stay in the lanes and people were going side to side. a lost trucks were moving from lane to lane. that is the big issue, looked like they were driving in theing for because it is like a black wall. >> he said the area is windy but not this windy. it was a surprise. c.h.p. officers say no one was hurt. they decided to leave a truck

the deputy said he feared for his life and opened fire hitting lopez seven times. the f.b.i. has joined local agencies looking into the shooting. >> the district attorney is expected to open an investigation today into a senior live in facility accused much leaving patients to fend for themselves. four disabled patients were found in castro valley open saturday. the staff left after state folks ordered the facility closed. three workers including a janitor, stayed on the job without pay to care for the patients. the owner's attorney tells abc7 news there was sufficient staff. >> i base on what the paramedics did, transporting all 14 people out of there to the hospital. i am not a medical expert. we are in law enforcement. if the medics say we have to get everyone to a hospital, i go with what they say. >> the tone causes it a

"misunderstanding," and says the owner is chronically ill. two other facilities had their operating licenses revoked owned by the same owner. >> parks worker accused of running over a sunbather will be in court. a hearing is set for the 58-year-old who pleaded not guilty to physical any manslaughter. he is accused of killing a 35 -year-old mother in a city vehicle while sunbathing with her 11-month-old daughter and a dog at holly park andly last month. his defense attorney says three swerved to avoid hitting a dog. >> an arm robbery suspect shot by san francisco police is in serious condition this morning. the shooting happened after officers cornered him at mallorca street a few blocks away a suspect had tried to grab

a suspect at an a.t.m. machine. he pistol-whipped the victim and ran off. the suspect then turned the gun on the officers. the victim left the scene. investigators tracked the victim down and questioned him of the attack. >> a today senate committee will talk about ways to improve safety communication between pg&e and city officials regarding pipelines. the move is after a pipe line was shut down in san carlos this month over safety concerns. san carlos officials say they first learned from the media not pg&e that flawed documents were used to wrongly declared boot line safe and was ordered shut down this month but has been allowed to be reconnected to flow at lower pressure. a report of alleged national security agency eavesdropping. a spanish newspaper said the n.s.a. tapped into 60 million phone calls in spain in one month. this is a week a similar reports

nick? neighbors heard noises this morning. either an argument or a scream. detectives from traffic unit are leading the investigation and say the witnesses were afraid to look to see where the sounds were coming from and called police who arrived in minutes. police confirmed at 2:30, residents in this subdivision called the police saying a woman was hit by a car. police found a woman dead in a driveway. according to the officials she was hit and it appears the driver and the victim knew each other. i don't know to what extent but we will provide you with that information. >> that is the report from san jose. we love the audio but the story is that the s.u.v. that pinned the woman against the driveway garage door is dead and police arrested the female driver investigating her for possible

d.u.i. >> voters in sunnyvale head to the polls to decide on a gun measure drawing the attention of the n.r.a. and the new york city mayor. it would require sunnyvale gun owners to report firearm thefts within 48 hours and dealers have to keep laws of ammunition sales much the mayor has given financial support to the measure. the n.r.a. threat wered to sue if it passes. >> the governor will sign a landmark agreement with other governors on the west coast, including the governors of washington and organize and governor brown, along with seven other governors to get $3348 -- three million zero emission vehicles on the road by 2025. wells fargo is donated $25
