[ male announcer ] rethink possible. live from the kgo-tv broadcast center this is abc7 news. >> the victim of a vicious dog attacks waits to find out if the bites mean he has to go through painful rabie shots. three of his neighbors are wandering the same thing. thanks for joining us. >> police now say two pit bull milks -- mixes came out of nowhere and began biting a man and two of his neighbors who came to help. amy has more on this and the search for the owners.

>> the people in this home came out to help and found out the only safe place was to be on top of this car. a man climbed up here and look at the scratch marks where the dogs were trying to get him. one victim showed the injuries on his arm. his sister's arm was bit were and his father was bitten in the face. his neighbors saw everything. >> i heard the neighbor yelling, get your dog, get your dog, get your dog and i heard one of the dogs squealing as it got attacked. >> it was 9:45 and a man who was walking his dog was attacked by two stray dogs. three people from inside this home came out to see what was going on. they, too, were attacked. mike realized it wasn't safe to be outside. >> i watched for a second and i went inside and watched from the window because i wasn't going to try to be on a loose pit in

attack mode. >> we tried to get the dogs in their driveway and suddenly we saw the guy that was standing on top of the car and the dogs were trying to get at him. >> the officers then shot and killed one of the dogs. the other dog ran away but returned and now is in the custody of animal criminal. >> i want to find out who the dogs belong to because they were running. >> police are trying to find th@ owners. us take a picture of the dogs but say both of pit bull mixes. the four people hurt in the attack are going to be okay. no one needed to go to the hospital. >> we are saying, thank goodness it wasn't halloween. what would happen if it happened today and the kids are trick-or-treating? authorities say if no one comes forward to claim the pit bull mix in the next ten days, he will be euthanized.
