next at 5:00. the man says he feared for his life during this encounter with a sonoma county deputy new embroiled in a shooting controversy. >> the man accused of the lax shootings is talking. if it looks like -- it does look like the worst of an evening commute and it's on a sunday afternoon. why it was slow going or no going today for drivers on the bay bridge. next on abc7 news. an opportunity investigators on the lax shooting have been waiting for. the accused gunman talks. good evening. i'm ama daetz. the man charged with opening fire inside los angeles international airport, quote, made the conscious decision to try to kill multiple tsa employees. here's the latest. 23-year-old anthony ciancia told

police he acted alone and was dropped off at the airport by an unsuspecting friend. once in the airport he pulled an assault rifle from a duffel bag and began firing. more than 24 hours after the shooting, the airport reports operations are back to normal. alex stone has the story from los angeles. reporter: 23-year-old paul ciancia lies under guard in a hospital bed, leaving behind a bloody trail to speak for him. >> he made a conscious decision to kill multiple tsa employees. >> the proof, says the fbi, a signed hand-written letter in his bag telling the tsa he wanted to instill fear on your traitorous mind. >> he says if i kill one my mission is accomplished. >> a complaint says he entered terminal three with a bag holding a smith and weston semi

automatic rifle with five spare magazines fully loaded. he pulled out the gun and walked up to the tsa checkpoint and fired multiple shots at point-blank range at a tsa officer, and as he moved up thees later he looked back at the wounded officer, who in video appeared to move, and returned to shoot the officer again, killing him. the government shot down at least two more tsa officers before four police bullets put him on the ground. >> it will be the decision of the attorney general of the united states whether or not to seek the death enemy this case. >> gerardo hernandez, the first tsa officer to die in the line of duty. >> he took pride in his work. >> ciancia's actions baffle everyone. tonight this lights will burn tsa blue in honor of the tsa

fallen officer. >> you can keep up with the new developments on the lax shooting with the abc7 news mobile app. a north bay man says the sonoma county deputy who shoot and called boy recently pulled a gun on him at a traffic stop. cornell bernard is live with the details. reporter: the memorial to andy lopez continues to grow here on moreland avenue. people continue to file by, paying their respects. one man says he had a scary constant front addition with the very same deputy who fired on andy lopez. >> i did not do anything to justify ever having a weapon pulled on me. >> he can't forget a day in august when he was driving to work on highway 101 some was stopped for not using his blinker on a lane change. he says the sonoma ya county dep

tip made the -- who made the stop seem agitated. >> i looked up and he is scream, turn the vehicle off. at that point i put my hands out and said, sir, the vehicle is off. >> he says a gun was pulled on him again when he was asked to get out of the car. >> i said, are you okay? i said, is it there something shy be aware of? are you have something stress? and as i looked at him, he grimaced, he didn't reply. >> the deputy who signed the traffic ticket was eric delhouse, the same man who shot and killed 13-year-old andy lopez last month. believing the air soft riffle he was carrying. >> i have been wondering what i could have done. >> the called the sheriff's department to complain about the traffic stop. an attorney said, based on the deputy's experience and training, he would never willing nilly pull out his gun.

>> willy-nilly. that was willy-nilly day i saw. >> jeff westbrook plans to file a formal complaint against the deputy soon. >> lopez are family plans to file a federal civil rights lawsuit against sonoma county and deputy sheriff tomorrow. attorneys claim the shooting violated lopez's constitutional rights under the fourth amendment, which places limits on the authority of police. the family's suit will accuse the sonoma county sheriff's office of having improper policies when it comes to using deadly force. >> new details on a house fire in oakland. this photo gives us a sense of the fire's intensity. it started this abandoned house around 6:30 this morning. the flam flames damaged a neighboring home. the family inside was able to get out safely. fire officials say the building has been empty since another fire there three or four years

ago. a murder today in san jose has the city on pace to reach last year's homicide rate, the high is since 1991. a man was shot and killed this morning. the victim was taken to the hospital by family members but did not survive. police made an arrest in the case. they're not release names or motive but say the suspect and victim knew each other. this marks san jose's 39th 39th homicide of the year. in san jose, police are searching for a memory handicapped man missing since friday. 54-year-old man was last seen on vine street. authorities say conseco has previous head injury that left him with a diminished mental capacity. he walks with a limp and has cape. 5'8", 140-pounds, black hair and a beard. he was last seen wearing a black jacket, white t-shirt, black pants, and flip-flops. >> a bizarre situation today on

the bay bridge brought traffic to a standstill for hours. check this out. you can see from the toll plaza camera a lot of cars were going nowhere fast this afternoon. after a man jumped out of a car on the incline of the bay bridge and was hit by another vehicle. he was taken to the hospital. his consistence unknown. investigators aren't sure why the man got out of the car. no one was arrested at the scene. here's a live look -- much better -- at the toll plaza. much different now and it's looking good as people are sailing into san francisco. another campus robbery at uc berkeley. police say two men pulled a gun on an 18-year-old female student in the faculty grade on thursday. robbing her of her cell phone and purse. the woman fought back, chasing the men away. five other people were robbed on or near campus in a one-week span last month. most of the victims have been young women. we learned today that

president obama will visit san francisco for a fundraiser right before thanksgiving. the president will headline a democratic national committee luncheon at the sf jazz center on november 25th. this will mark president obama's fourth trip to san francisco this year and the president's 16th visit to the bay area since he took office in 2009. a group of skydivers looking for a high-flying adventure got more than expected. they wanted to jump, but not because of this. ahead, the air scare that forced them to bail out just to survive. >> nine skydivers and two pilots escaped a midair collision in wisconsin without serious injuries. one of the planes flew over the top of the area and got caught in the lower plane's turbulence, causing it to sheer off the wing and send up a fireball. skydiver were able to jump clear of the planes. one pilot land safely, the other ejected using an emergency parachute. >> peak on a flight heading to sfo was detained after other passengers say he made threatening statements on the flight. it happened last night on a jetblue flight from long

beach. in this cell phone video you see, you can see officers escort the man off the plane. another passenger reported a perceived threat to flight crew who contacted security. a check of the aircraft proved there was no security threat. a record number of runners, more than 50,000, raced in today's new york city marathon after the event took place for the first time since 2011. superstorm sandy wiped out last year's race. they navigated across bridges and city streets and encountered increased security after the bombing at the boston marathon. >> i wanted to come to new york, first i want to honor the victims of the boston marathon and the survivors, and secondly, last year i came here to run the race and superstorm sandy ended the race so i wanted to come back here and finish business.

will be demolished in 1400 feet of the upper deck. it will take three years and cost nearly $240 million. architects from around the world just wrapped up a competition to build a home using materials recycled from the old eastern span of the bay bridge. bay bridge house.org posted these images online. two architects from den mark won the top price calling the design the hanging house. the contest organizer still needs to work out a deal with caltrans to take pieces of the old bridge. >> a fireball went through a neighborhood in canada and now people are watching it around the world on the web. the fireball zips along electrical wires above a street in montreal. this is he second time the flames raced along the same wires. hugh griffith had his camera going. >> an extreme amount of heat
