the gunnen ma. katie marzullo has the latest. >> they found the gunman dead. he killed himself and they believe that is the motive, suicide. he had ample opportunity to shoot people and he did not. police identified the man with the gun at 20-year-old richard shoop. this is from a modeling website. he lived with his parents in new jersey. the gun was stolen from his from, a legal .22 caliber rifle that was altered to look like an ak-47. police found him dead after midnight in the back area of the mall in an area under construction. they say he entered the mall at closing time and started shooting. he was wearing all black and a motorcycle helmet. thousands of people were able to get out before police locked down the mall but that left 400 shoppers and employees huddled inside while the officers searched for the gunman.

the the witnesses locked the store and lid until the coast was clear. shoop shot at the ceiling and an elevator. in the note, shoop expressed the end was coming but it is fought clear if that pent he feared being arrested or if he wanted to die. authorities say he was a none drug user and drug dealer. authorities are stopping short of calling it a suicide note because he did not write it before going into the mall. >> thank you. when voters go to the polls they will decide on a strict new gun law that has the attention of gun control forces and the n.r.a. and matt keller is in sunnyvale to explain. matt? >> the gun control topic certainly stirs up passionate

spot, and bodega bay is 63 with low 70's cross most of the east bay shore and hercules is the warm spot at 73 and the east bay valleys, walnut creek and fairfield and livermore the warmest at 74 degrees. temperatures are more realistic tonight and we will hang out in the 40's and into around oakland, richmond and san francisco. 54 degrees tomorrow and chance of rain on veterans day, monday. >> speaking of walnut creek i will have that in a little bit with self problems across our roads and this accident involving a vehicle northbound 880 at coliseum way and then near that accident is another accident. heavy traffic is building but not as bad as it could be of the one lane is blocked. traffic is able to pass decently.
