baby from sunnyvale is safe and his father is under arrest. right now the child's relieved mother wants to know when she will get to see her baby boy. good evening. i'm dan ashley. >> i'm carolyn johnson. police say the 22-year-old abducted his baby and drove to mexico where he was caught late this afternoon. abc7 news reporter heather ishimaru is live in sunnyvale

outside the home. >> carolyn, inside this apartment building is a mother who was resting peacefully after a full day of shear torture not knowing what would become of her newborn. investigators still don't know where the father crossed over the border into mexico or when and how he sliped past u.s. authorities when there was an amber alert and a $1 million warrant attached to his name. two week old henry romero is being cared for by mexican authorities until he can be returned to his mother, patricia romero in sunnyvale. with her 5-year-old daughter she spoke to reporters with the help of a friend tonight. >> i am really happy and really thankful that the police and people that helped me to find my baby. >> yesterday afternoon henry's father, he took the baby and told romero he was taking him

out of state. he threatened to harm himself and the baby if she called police. >> she called them seven hours later and an amber alert was issued along with a $1 million warrant for his arrest. >> i was afraid i wouldn't be able to find them again. >> early this morning there were citings of his vehicle and cell phone pings in san diego where he has family. at some point he made it past the u.s. border patrol. he was stopped this afternoon at a checkpoint in mexico somewhere near lukeville in pima county, arizona that is about 300 miles from san diego. >> based on their interview with him they called the u.s. border patrol at lukeville. they gave his name and they ran his name and discuffed there was -- discovered there was a warrant for has arrest. >> no one knows for sure when henry will be back with his mother or when he will be in the custody of santa clara county sheriff. abc7 news.

his ground breaking report on this. >> thanks. it used to be the biggest concern with car break ins was a rock through a window or an unlocked door. earlier this year a string of mysterious car burglaries in southern california stull ped investigator -- stumped investigators. there were no forced entry and technology made the crime possible. that sparked my investigation and that's when i found your car is at risk too. >> oakland resident believes he is the victim of a car hacking. hacking. >> during the night the car had been broken into. which made me angry. it is right here in the driveway of the i cooperate i -- i couldn't believe it. i said i know i locked it. >> that same night in the neighborhood another car was broken into. the electronics inside the key are complicated and sophisticated. the idea behind it sbt. isn't. it is like a child swimming
