live from the kgo-tv broadcast center this is abc7 news. >> twitter stock is off and running at the sound of the new york stock exchange opening bell this morning. so far it is giving the san francisco-based company and the fans a lot to tweet about. >> good morning. twitter stock soared 92 percent before it opened for trading today from the initial price set yesterday. shares of the social media company opened at $45.10 and only $26 yesterday. they are celebrated and demonstrators are complaining. we are joined in san francisco with the latest. amy?

>> there was one protest here this morning in front of twitter headquarters on market street and another set for noon today. the people are upset saying that the city is giving them a tax break that is costing the city millions and the founder and the employees here are making millions. >> twitter opening trade this morning came in 73 percent higher than the i.p.o. price. that was impressing the financial analysts. >> we can say that twitter's first morning as a publicly traded company exceeded all expectations. it is trading right now at above 70's percent of the i.p.o. value which is better than most thought. >> twitter came to life as a public company, people played dead identified their friend offices calling attention to what they call the death of affordable housing because of twitter wealth. they are against the tax breaks the city gave to twitter when the company was looking to possibly move out of san francisco.

by his father all the way to mexico where the boy was found safe. the dad was arrested. abc7 news reporter, matt keller, has the latest from sunnyvale. >> a spokesman with the district attorney told me in the past hour they are working on getting a flight for the mother who lives here to reunite with her baby in arizona and that could be why two workers from the district attorney showed up here and picked her up in the past 45 minutes asking the mother if she had her i.d. and ready to go and left in the car. no word on when the flight to arizona would take place. here is her two week old son, henry. the father was captured with the baby at a check point in mexico yesterday afternoon across the border from arizona. the mother spoke to us after finding out her son was safe. i am happy and thankful for the police and the people that

helped to find my baby. child protective services in arizona is taking care of the philipine. guler was scheduled for a hearing in arizona. the santa clara district attorney is coordinating extradition with no word on how long that will take. >> matt, thank you. bart managers are facing some tough questions today about safety issues. california lawmakers are holding an investigative hearing at the state building right now asking questions about the deaths of two bart workers during the strike. christopher shepard and larry daniel were hit and killed by a train during the strike. a similar accident happened in 2008. >> officials say it will take a month longer than expected to complete the permanent fix for the giant steam bolts that snapped on the new eastern span early this year. our media partner reports the

custom steel saddles are fully operational by january 8. officials hoped to be done by december 10 but they say that fabrication was complex and took longer than expected. the temporary shims allowed officials to on the new span on labor day will remain in place until the saddles are installed. >> we are getting new images of the incredit edge meet your shower that sent lights through the sky from oregon to southern california. >> sleep with one eye open. it is not over. the shower is visible the entire first half of the month. last night, the american immediate -- meteor society reported many people saw the meteor shower in nevada and utah and arizona as well as oregon and california. >> i saw the key bright.

>> witnesses were shocked by what they saw. bill got up and went to the front door if a better view. >> i looked up and saw this big, huge, beautiful blue pear-shaped like a teardrop. >> that was at 8:00. the meteor shower is about quality, not wanty. you won't see many but those that appear will be extremely bright. great video but hard to come by^. not the case in russia in february. there is plenty of video of a large meteor that exploded over a city and injured several people. >> by combining all the videos and cherrypicking the really good ones for astronomy, that gives us fabulous information about what happened.

there is a little here but nothing like what they will deal with in the philippines. here are the graphics. do not get caught up in the individual icons but unless from micronesia this was a tropical depression and in three days it became a super typhoon. there is a ton of america and well-defined. my goodness, this is the latest, it has increased. again. it is now up to 195 miles per hour, almost unheard of with dusts up to 225 miles per hour. and moving at 24 miles per hour and will rake the philippines for 12 hours through tonight and then it will head over to vietnam. if past storms can serve as a projection this is going to cause thousands of casualties and hundreds of thousands of displacements of people from their homes. not good news.

another sign of how broad intelligence-gathering by the u.s. government is getting. the c.i.a. is now paying at&t more than $10 million a year to get access to the phone records of possible terrorism suspects. the deal between the c.i.a. and at&t is voluntary and not under a court order. under the agreement, the c.i.a. gives at&t the phone numbers

terrorism suspects. at&t then searches the database and turns over records of calls. the c.i.a. is not commenting on the program. debt that -- tesla has confirmed another car has caught fire. this is a video of a tesla on fire after a driver hit road debris that pierced a driver pack. another fire happened mexico when a driver crashed at high speed. year, a vehicle hit debris in tennessee. this has caused a 7 percent drop today after a drop of 15 yesterday. >> a high school in california is being pressured to ditch their mascot of 82 years, the arab mascot, under fire from a national organization. the american arab apted discrimination committee is urging the school to drop the

arab name because it reinforces negative stereotypes of arabs and arab americans. alumni disagree and believe that the mascot honors the arab culture and their role in the east valley and the link to date farmers. the district is taking up the issue later this month. >> this is a lot of excitement gorying up to the big showdown between stanford and oregon. officials are warning football fans about fake tickets. the only way to be sure a ticket is authentic is to buy it directly through stanford's ticket office or an authorized re-seller. officials concerned about safe tickets on sites like craigslist or in person near the stadium. a handful of standing room only tickets are still available for tonight's game and if you cannot go you can watch it on our sister network espn at 6:00. >> we want the kickoff forecast but a lot of tailgateers are concerned about early weather, as well. agorgeous weather. in doubt. no doubt. it will change considerly from

authorities are cracking down on walnut thieves after $400,000 worth of nuts were stolen from a barn. police say the thieves made off with 140,000 pounds of walnuts from a trailer parked in an orchard on sunday, the latest in a string of thefts. farmers say this comes after a huge jump in the cost of walnuts from $-- from 60 cents to $25 a pound. the food and drug administration announced this morning that trans fats are no longer recognized as safe. the oils are the source of many trans fat found in many food in oils, including pizza and cake mix. they boost the bad cholesterol. >> the centers for disease control has estimated that to we can eliminate these trans fat, 20,000 hard attacks a year will

we will be about 70 until 5:00 and then the sung will set and drop to 66 at 6:00 and drop down to 55 by the time the game is over at 10:00, a 15-degree spread so it could get chilly during the game. you may want too have a coat or hoodie or something with stanford on it. can you see the swirling mass of clouds headed to seattle and vancouver right now. that is the cold front bringing us high clouds and is going to help chip away at our temperatures. we will not get rain out of that system. it is mild again if you are headed out, we are 59 at half moon bay and 6 in oakland and fremont is 62. everyone else is in the mid-to-upper 60's. right now antioch is the warm spot at 69 degrees. in san jose with the 63 degrees, you can see there are clouds and mid-to-upper level clouds and the trees are starting to change in downtown. it will be sunny and mild today. slight cooling this weekend and

eventually, we will still have a chance of light rain. the key is "light," on veterans day and it looks like it could come later in the afternoon and evening so any of the veteran day activities could be dry. keep our fingers crossed. as far as temperatures today, they will be close to yesterday, about three to seven degrees above average. most of us in the low low-to-mid 70's from accident in san francisco to 74 in fairfield and napa and 75 in morgan hill and 74 in oakland and 70 in san francisco but the coast could be cooler at 64 at half moon bay. as far as the temperatures tonight, maybe a degree or two cooler, clouds be not be so thick with temperatures in the mid-to-upper 40's inland and upper 40's for most of the bay and the coast and san francisco is the warm spot at 53 degrees. this is the storm. notice it is passing us to the north and the showers stay near the oregon border and we will still have those clouds less on

strewsive tomorrow and well see more sunshine and that will keep our temperatures up a little bit and as we head to friday a lost sunshine with high clouds and sunday is when we see the wind shift coming off the ocean and temperatures will drop more sunday with increasing clouds. look at the rain. it is still coming in slower and slower and it is not very much. some areas could have .1" to .25" rain possible. now the seven we seven, tomorrow the temperatures are almost the same as today but cooler on saturday into sunday and the coolest is with the cold front monday and tuesday and a chance of rain both days. temperatures are going to be below average for the early part of next week. our friends in the philippines, winds at 195 miles per hour. that is a tremendous amount of
