4:00 and 64 and clouds in the evening. we have fog inland the next telephone hours and we will see a transition to high clouds and 64 and thicker in the afternoon and 66 by 7:00 not so cool as last night at 58. at the coast, well hand out in the 50's for the better part of the afternoon after starting out with clouds this morning and clouds through 7:00 but, still, in the mid-50's. leyla gulen? >> we have two sig-alerts in effect, one in san francisco now with three lanes blocked. as we take you to fairfield, this sig-alert is still in effect but it sounds like an extra lane is open and possibly all lanes have re-opened after the multiple vehicle crash. before you get to highway 12 westbound 80 we are down to six miles per hour with heavy backup from before cherry glenn. we also have another report of a fender bender in the westbound direction. as we led into san francisco southbound 101 there is another

multi-vehicle accident causing heavy delays away from westbound 80. from the bay bridge toll plaza it looks like the traffic is moving smoothly and from emeryville camera that picture as you make it over to treasure island is moving along pretty will with. eric and kristen? >> developing now firefighters remain at the scene of a huge fire in redwood city that sent a large plume of smoke in the air triggering house warning across three bay area counties. the file started yesterday at the metal management on seaport boulevard. that is where matt keller is with the conditions right now. >> good news this morning in redwood city, the joyant mule of smoke and steam has disappeared over the last half hour. from redwood city fire department, inside the metal management they have been

fighting the fire since after 1:00 o'clock yesterday afternoon. the shelter-in-place is still in effect from menlo park, redwood city, east palo alto and unincorporated san mateo county. we expect the health advisory to be lifted. people can see the smoke and steam for miles away. >> we saw the clouds. it was black. i figured it was a fire so we came to investigate. we noticed a lot of smoke that smelled like plastic. >> the firefighters and equipment have been released leaving 20 firefighters remaining to determine what caused the fire. there are different origins of the mellal brought for recycling. the boulevard was re-opened at 4:00 this morning good news for those working here. there are a lot of businesses at the end of the boulevard. they can get to their jobs, now, this morning. >> now the latest open what was

typhoon haiyan which now is a tropical storm. winds gusted up to 98 miles per hour uprooting trees and blowing the roofs 50 of homes. the news an says that five people are confirmed dead. >> in the philippines there are fears the death toll could time to 10,000 from the devastating storm. this is new video showing the height of the storm on friday. the official death toll now is 1,563 which is expected to go up. blocked roads making it difficult to get an accurate town and to distribute relief goods. >> this is how broad the devastation is. new video from over the weekend shows widespread damage. reports say that locals are now looting and panic buying so new

a curfew is in place. >> united states marines are now in the philippines to offer aid to the country. 90 arrived early today. they take part in search-and-rescue operations. the marine general in charge of the mission said that he took a tour of the region and saw bodies everywhere calling it "total devastation." relief efforts taking place at home. abc7 news reporter, amy hollyfield, has that story. >> volunteers have what great success in the bay area and they are just getting started. in san francisco, a small group of filipino americans gathered we $700 just standing at powell and market asking for money. it worked. they plan to do it today. in san bruno members of the group project pearls asked for cash and food. 1,600 donation came in it

. >> oakland police broke up a side show after truck drivers called to complain. officers found 100 cars blocking all lanes of middle harbor road at 7th around 10:00 last night. dozens of others may have taken off. initial reports put up to 200 cars at the scene. police did issue citations but investigators are not saying much else. ought pressure for private security at san francisco general will be revived at the botched search if a missing patient found dead later in a stairwell. officials at san francisco general tried to replace the sheriff deputies for three years with a less costly and more effective private security force but were turned down by the union and their supporters on the board of supervisors. the hospital spent $6.5 million last fiscal year for sheriff deputies. $1 million more than four years earlier for the same level of

>> amazon announces a new deal with the united states postal service. starting this week the post office will deliver packages to consumers on sunday at no extra charge. this is not available in the bay area. amazon is trying the service in los angeles and new york first before expanding next year. the postal service is exploring similar deals with other retailers. more postal service news, they are moving in with staple with counters inside staples location to provide shoppers with a one-stop shopping option. the staples store in south san francisco is one location taking part in the pilot program. the retailer is the first company to take part in the postal service partner, --

news. good morning, 6:29 on veteran's day, monday. a gorgeous shot when you look on the clouds that are on top of the bay area. that is how we wake up. thank you positive joining us. >> it is 6:30 on this veteran's day, but first we will check the weather forecast. mike? >> mike has a great view of the clouds. it is damp this morning. that is why we have fog on live doppler 7 hd. 1.5 mile visibility in livermore is as low as it gets. we have a breeze out here at five to 10 miles per hour. the fog is not staying in one area very long. for the bay, 53 degrees, foggy at 7:00, low-to-mid 60's noon to 4:00 transitioning in low clouds to high clouds to thick are high clouds in the afternoon and 58 at 7:00.

inland, patchy fog and 47. in the mid-to-upper 60's for afternoon hour, and 58 in the evening. at the coast low clouds transition to low 50's. no rain on this veteran's day. leyla gulen? >> good morning, everyone. we are checking the holiday traffic but it is not holiday light. in san francisco the sig-alert is in effect with one lane taken away because of multiple vehicle accidents causing heavy backups bumper-to-bumper traffic from the bay bridge from westbound 80. that is causing lots of pressure on the central freeway. no word when all the lane will be re-opened. this sig-alert has speeds of six miles per hour with one lane taken away and heavy backup causing slowing on highway 12 westbound. this is another multiple vehicle crash and a report of a crash at

north texas. another big rig accident is involved there. >> develop news with residents of san mateo county are advised to keep doors and ones closed because of smoke from a fire at a recycling center in redwood city is under control but generating smoke. abc7 news reporter, matt keller, has more. matt? >> we have an update to the story. the redwood city fire department says they have the fire under control. that is as of 20 minutes ago. we saw the steam and spoke disappear the last hour. that is good news for smoke in the area. from the redwood city fire department pictures they were inside the sims metal management. the shelter-in-place is canceled

for the entire area. medical personnel were on the scene to make sure firefights did not get affected by the steam and smoke. it is difficult to determine the cause of the fire because of how large the pile was and the different origins with 20 firefighters on the scene 15 minutes ago. they will be moving and clearing the scene with the fire under control and all health advisories are lifted for the area. the shelter-in-place order has been lifted, and a similar fire broke out at sims metal management in 2007 which started at the bottom of the 30' pile of flattened cars.
