washington, d.c. >> reporter: millions of americans received cancellation policies. >> to those americans i hear you loud and clear. i said i would do everything to fix this problem. >> reporter: today, the president offer aid temporary fix. >> insurers can extend current plans otherwise cancelled into 2014. >> reporter: administration is putting saying the health care slau no longer the reason. >> insurance companies may say we want to charge charge more than last year, or we're not going cover prescription drugs now. >> reporter: insurers say this could be a gigantic, complicated mess. cancelled plans have to be repriseed and filed for approval. the process usually takes months. insurance agency lobbyist warned changing rules could destabilize the market and result in higher premiums for

consumers. republicans have been targeting obamacare since the day it was signed into law. >> there is no way to fix this. >> reporter: but now, the president is facing a resfrolt his own party. >> our failure to roll out aca smoothly has put a burden on democrats. >> reporter: some senate democrats want to be on the record with a vote not just for a one-year fix, but a permanent one. abc news, washington. the president's fix may not help more than 1 million californians getting cancellation notices. state insurance commissioner dave jones says a provision will allow providers to cancel poll says december 31st. jones sent a letter to covered california asking the exchange to get rid of the pro vision, he wants insurers to allow policy extensions >> big job cuts announced by

defense contactor lockheed martin. >> the company employs 7,000 people in sunnyvale. that is where david louie is this afternoon. david? >> lockheed martin is the largest employer. and 200 layoffs falls in line with the goal of laying off 3.4% of the global work force of 116,000 people. now, lockheed martin space missiles operation is based here in sunnyvale on matilda avenue. much of the work is classified defense projects. but 200 layoffs cut across the board, engineers and clerical workers. the layoffs will be gradual ask completed by the end of the year. four buildings will be shut down, lockheed martin tells me they've been making these four older structures expendable. but staff is briefed

ahead of time. >> we never like to hear about layoffs of any size. at this point we're going to sna touch with lockheed martin making sure our resources are available to them to the extent possible. >> sunnyvale says it's gone through boom and bust cycles before. a familiar pattern here in silicon valley. government spending grows or contracts. the town center is an example of the expansion. sunnyvale added 750 new businesses, creating 4,000 new jobs. so with the layoffs sunnyvale will be still left with 80,000 jobs. lockheed martin is doing deeper cuts, closing facilities in pennsylvania and ohio. here is an interesting factoid. lockheed sales this year will be down 5%, that is the first drop in a decade. we're live in sunnyvale, david louie, abc7 news. >> thank you.

officials say the transgender student started the physical fight but only after she was verbally harassed about her gender identity the transgender student complained about being bullied just two days ago. administrators are hoping talking about this will lead to greater tollerance on campus.. >> i hope bullying will be addressed more carefully and closely in our districts and states and hopefully, the nation. >> all four students face disciplinary action for this fight. >> friends and family of luke sasha fleeshman are planning a march. a suspect is being charged as an adult. sasha faces skin graft surgeries

. sunny, breezy tomorrow. sunnier than today. but not a lot warmer. a cooler pattern to the weekend. so november-like pattern is settling in and it feels like fall out there here is our radar composite image showing cooler air mass descending from the north going to add to the cooling trend that is underway. notice on our forecast animation, we'll have mainly clear skies tomorrow, then, clouds moving in tomorrow night and into saturday. but limited moisture with clouds coming our way. so we're not likely to see rainfall out this, rain more of a possibility than a probability. now, continuing through saturday, sunday, into next week. by wednesday, a slight chance of rain in the north bay. we're not likely to get much out that have if anything at all. overnight tonight will be chilly by early morning with low temperatures

moment. >> oncoming traffic going to the lower deck of the bay bridge. not moving particularly fast. it's no better for those folks on the righthand side of the on the righthand side of the screen. back with more of my hed and wrapped around to the front. i was on my way to a music conference and the pain from shingles just made it impossible to even want to move. i couldn't play my bassoon because of the pressure that i felt throughout my whole head. eventually i noticed that i had these little blisters up on my forehead and they started spreading. the blistering and the rash was moving down towards my eye. the doctors at the emergency room recommended that i have it checked out by an eye doctor. there was concern about my eyesight. i eventually learned that if i had chickenpox i was susceptible to getting shingles as an adult. i couldn't do the things i loved because of the pain.

when it comes to being lony in the middle? >> reporter: her teachers focus on her talent. >> her mother must be special. this child has grown up with out feeling limitations. >> reporter: lony was born in china, adopted by an american mother at 13 months old at eight she developed scoliosis. when your spine begins to curve sideways. >> my mom put me in ballet classes she thought it would help with alignment. i started performing in nut cracker and stuff. and i started to like it. >> so much so that lony left her home in massachusetts to study with marina hodgkins in the alonzo king lines ballet offered in san rafael. lony practices in the morning and returns to san rafael to do academic work in afternoons. >> i don't want to be like a

contract after workers went out on strike twice. now, sources tell abc7 news this page somehow made it into final draft, and was signed as you can see by all of the negotiators. everybody signed off on it but bart officials claim they rejected the provision and the union verbally agreed to take it out. at issue, family medical leave stating bart will give full pay for six weeks. old language says employees need to use sick time and vacation time first. when bart management discovering this mistake the union said the clause could not be withdrawn. they're expected to vote tomorrow to kedeal with this crisis. if they can't agree bart workers could go on strike again, possibly over the holidays we'll be live with the latest on
