involving a fatal crash with the lanes just re-opened on southbound 880, the driver of a bmw was speeding northbound 8980 before 1:00 o'clock a.m. and he hit a semi truck and flipped over the center divide on to the southbound side hitting a honda crv head on. the driver of the bmw and the monday were killed, both victims were men. >> this was the site of a sig-alert. >> in fact, the sig-alert is canceled and the backup remains. to go five miles away from 7th street up to the scene of the accident it will take you 20 minutes which normally takes you just five minutes. we are look at bumper-to-bumper traffic at 51 miles per hours beyond 5th avenue and a new accident reports southbound 680 with one lane blocked. we have delays northbound, as well. to the peninsula, the accident

biggest cooling trend. high clouds and sunshine and 60 with louds and limited sunshine at 4:00 and clouds and 52 and at the coast we have mostly clear conditions but for up north, 47 in the mid-50's with clouds increasing here during the afternoon hours. the entire day planner, the next wonderful hours is dry and that is not the case this time tomorrow. >> we are learning new details this morning about netflix' expansion plan in the south bay. voters may have the final say. matt is joining us to explain from los gatos. >> business is. booing for netflix. the stock is up 275 percent this year. now the expansion plans are getting a boost in los gatos. in 2012 the los gatos town counsel aproved the expand of business court on the other side of highway 85 from the current 250,000 square feet to 485,000 square feet.

lawsuits have been filed challenging the new heights of the building. two los gatos residents have filed a letter of intent to circulate a petition if approved will allow for the business park to go on as landed blocking the ability of a court to stop development until the year 2021. supporters say the development provides up to $1 million in new property tax revenues for the schools. opponents say netflix has signed a lease agreement to stay and the legal challenges are about responsible development in the town. no word on how many signatures will be needed to get this on the ballot. >> happening now, this is the first weekday commute since the new fourth bore of the caldecott tunnel opened, meaning there are two tunnels available at all times in each direction helping drivers eastbound in the reverse commute direction. they used to have to merge into

one tunnel. the westbound commute will be the same or slower as drivers check out the new features inside the fourth bore. we will have a report from the caldecott tunnel in about 30 minutes. >> switching gories, this morning people in illinois, indiana, and several other midwestern states are cleaning up after being hit by dozens of tornadoes over the weekend. the harvest hit community is walk, illinois, where there is nothing left of several blocks. six people died and dozens were injured. the tornadoes caught many off guard because they were so late in the season. one family survived after making a written for safety. >> me and my boys went straight to the creek. we ran as fast as we could. the tornado was behind us. we ran to the creek. >> one man recited the lord's rare. a huge tornado was barreling

covering san rafael, south bay, pleasanton and all the bay area. this is from lebanon, indiana. this is some of the damage left behind by the tornadoes that blew through the midwest. this is a warehouse with a roof torn out with 40 tornadoes in all with six deaths in the midwest. recovery is difficult. in lebanon there was a starbucks store where everyone was huddled out but they got out okay. >> in north carolina, a social services supervisor and a nurse are due in court after being

accused of abusing their 11-year-old foster child. the details of this story could be disturbing. police arrested the union county couple over the week after deputies found the couple's 11-year-old foster child handcuffed to a porch on friday. he was shivering with a dead chicken tied around his neck. they had four other kids now in the custody of social services. >> we learning former south african president mandela is unable to speak. mandela's former wife tells the south african number tubes used to which are his lungs are preventing him from talking and he is using facial expressions to communicate with doctors and family. the former wife says the 95 -year-old is quite i almost l but he is stable. he could be able to talk again it is hoped. >> former president clinton is in china arriving in beijing and held a meeting with chinese

coverage is $95 a year. wal-mart says that could be too much for some americans leading them to cut their spending. >> we have had early traffic problems on this monday. leyla gulen? >> yes, erie, we have. we have heavy delays on 880 southbound through oakland because of an early sig-alert. we did report this accident southbound 680 coming away from the dublin interchange with bumper-to-bumper traffic and three lanes are blocked. as we look at our drive time traffic along 580 tracy to dublin we have one how. that could be made slower because of this, i tracked this brand new accident that is minor but the lanes could be blocked westbound 580 getting closer to the dublin interchange and well keep our eye on this.

mike nicco? >> thank you, leyla gulen. the big picture shows the area clouds moving toward 9 northwest and that is our next system. it is staying to the north today. the sunny start as we look southbound from our roof camera, and you request see parts of the embarcadero center, the ferry building and the bay bridge looks nice this morning with beautiful blue-collar. gathering clouds, though, as the system draws near and temperatures are close to average. it will be dry. remember how the drive in the rain tomorrow you need the proper shoes, coats, umbrella, all the stuff we have not used since september 21 you will need tomorrow through thursday. this is the real deal. we are not getting nickeled and dimed but we will see healthy rain. today, with the clouds increasing we are in the upper 50's at half moon bay and san francisco and richmond and vallejo to clear lake and everything else in the low pressure 60's and tonight the temperatures are much milder

because of cloud cover and mid-40's up north to upper 40's to mid-50's for the rest of us and the radar runs are showing up in the north bay during the overnight hours and the rain will move in while most of us are sleeping. the storm system is two parts, two areas of low pressure. when the front comes in, it will stall and we will have a chance of rain for 48 hours to 72 hours. tonight, midnight, sonoma is getting it and tomorrow morning, the best chance of a light rain from the bay bridge north, some spotty drizzle is possible for the the rest of us and steady rain to the north, warm air rain ahead of main system and still patchy light rain for us during lunch and here comes the cold front, you can see all of us getting rain during the evening commute, evening, overnight, it will break up for wednesday's

before 1:00 o'clock. investigators say the driver of a bmw was speeding on northbound 880 when it hit a semi, flipped over the center divide in the southbound 880 and hit a honda crv head on. driver of the bmw and the driver of the honda, were both killed in the accident and all lanes have re-opened. >> that is not the only problem. leyla gulen? >> we are still seeing delays along 880 headed into oakland from the maze. the big accident at this hour is from dublin to pleasanton, southbound 80, before this area here you can see the backup. it sounds like the crash is cleared to the shoulder involving six vehicles. we have bumper-to-bumper traffic jams and that is causing treasure language 580. now there is more traffic. in fairfield, this accident is a

increasing clouds but dry with temperatures in the mid-50's. all is quiet. we will look at the temperatures in the neighborhood and the chance of rain coming tomorrow and lasting several days in the forecast. kristen and eric? >> this is the first weekday commute with a new fourth bore of the caldecott tunnel open for business. amy hollyfield is on the oakland side of the tunnel. how is it going this morning? >> it looks great. like behind me. these people headed out of the new tunnel headed into san francisco are going full speed with no problems. there are no problems to report. look on the other side, that is the real story, the real winners this morning, the tail lights you see are the people who have two bores for the first time. that should save them an average of five minutes.

the fourth bore opened saturday morning the first expansion of the tunnel since 1964 and plane commuters say it is overdue. 160,000 cars travel through the tunnel each day. now we have two bores open in both directions at all hours with no more switching directions as the traffic flow demands. the $417 million traffic project came in under budget and on time. today, we can celebrate the first commute is underway to testify it out. this afternoon, people who are on the reverse commute and get two bores will save an average of eight to ten minutes off the drive. >> thank you, amy. the bart board and the union members are set to meet today over what bart calls a mistake in the new labor contract. bart's board of directors says a clerical error gives the union

mid-50's so not so 8:00. we have a couple of areas of low pressure so when the cold front comes in, it brings the rain ahead of the cold front and the warm air will develop tonight in the north bay and you can see at midnight it is moving into the sonoma county coast and 7:00 tomorrow the rain down to the bay bridge and the rest of us could have scattered rain if not at least drizzle for the morning commute. most of the steady rain is going to stay to the north and slowly slide down to the south during the morning and into the afternoon and evening hours. all of us will have slick streets in the evening commute. you can see wednesday at noon or at midnight we have the one system pulling arm with scattered rain on wednesday morning and you can see the rain developing against wednesday afternoon and it turns over to showers on wednesday evening into thursday. rainfall amounts are up to a couple of inches possible in the north bay mountains and the rest
