tougher punishment. it will be busy at san jose state and the black student union will be holding a rally before the press conference by the naacp and the civil rights group is calling if felony charges to be filed against those four san jose state students. this is video from the rally with organizers calling it black thursday and students showed support for the alleged victim. four white freshman used slurs against the 17 year old black student need their campus housing with decorated rooms of nazi i imagines and put a bicycle lock around his neck. three have been charged with misdemeanor hate crime and the fourth is a juvenile facing similar charges. today, the san jose superintendent valley naacp will hold a press conference on conference with the state and national office and, also, san jose state leadership calling for the santa clara district attorney to increase the misdemeanor charges to felony

charges. san jose state president will be at the resolution conference today and he ano oned he will be holding a lecture series next semester on racial diversity and tolerance. >> thank you, president obama is waking up on the west coast this morning amid a fundraising swing to include several stops in the bay area arriving at seattle to the international airport. president obama attended two democratic fundraisers greeted by demonstrators protesting the keystone xl pipeline. protesters were at the san franciscoy club where he will visit this afternoon voicing opposition to the use of drones. he will arrive in san francisco this morning and hold a rally at the row creation center in chinatown to discuss immigration reformal. then he will head to a fundraiser at the home in pacific heights and then take

officials october 26. now, his wife and son are speaking publicly for the first time about their ordeal. >> i was stunned. i truly thought in the next hour i would be getting a call saying it really didn't happen or there was a mixup. >> the state department says that they are monitoring the talks to free newman over the dreadful misunderstanding. you can see more of the interview at 7:00 on "good morning america" next. >> a nevada man will appear in court today in connection with the murder of his caretaker who is from the bay area. the 81-year-old is accused of shooting and killing 51-year-old caretaker at his home. she was from concord and living with him at the time. the local sheriff says that he confessed to a neighborhood he killed his caretaker last thursday.

>> a sausalito man was arrested over the weekend after he assaulted his girlfriend and jumped off a second floor balcony to escape after 2:00 a.m. on sunday at a home on glenn drive. police say the 37-year-old man jumped 40' on to a hillside after his girlfriend called 9-1-1 after being assaulted. he suffered injuries during the fall and was taken to the hospital. >> now the forecast. mike? >> from the east bay hills, you can see how clean the air is looking. we have the possibility, though, of poor air quality in the north bay so it is "spare the air" for all of us and no burning wood. no all of us. $100 fine and you can go to school, and $500 fine the second tie. it will be fine particulate matter is the biggest issue with the burning of the wood or the pollution in the air.

good morning, everyone, this is the eastern span of the bay bridge where traffic is moving along. there are spots out there where there are challenges and we will have more on that ahead. >> an amtrak train from new orleans to new york derailed in south carolina. they are trying to figure what caused the train do go off the tracks. amtrak says the derailed cars stays upright. some passengers were taken to local passengers with no major injuries. 200 passengers have to make the trip by business. >> we will hear a lot more about the ordeal three women endured as captives in a cleveland home for 11 years. michelle night has a book next spring one of the captives of ariel castro convicts of kidnapping the women and torturing them until they escaped. he hanged himself in prison two

we have haze throughout the east bay valleys not taking it to the bay and we have clean air. winds are light and variable and less than six miles per hour but blowing out from the north and down to the south so any smoke and fog and haze that is developing in the north by is pushing into the east bay valleys in the bay. but it theres clean as we look from the roof camera with the lights of the ferry building and the embarcadero center, you can tell the holidays are nearing with the beautiful lights on. today, it is a first day, and it will be the day with the least amount of cloud cover. it will be hazy, too, because of the poor air quality but full of sunshine. slight chance of rain wednesday and thursday and getting slighter and mild and dry no -- for friday, saturday and sunday. no umbrella, no heavy coat as you are shopping. low-to-mid 60's is the highs today, and under a few high

clouds this afternoon and we go from 60 at half moon bay to 64 throughout the north bay values and 63 to 64 degrees on both sides of the bay shore to 65 in san jose and 63 to 65 also, in the east bay valley and tonight, the cloud cover will keep the temperatures up with a lot mid-to-upper 40's outside. you can notice the high clouds are getting thicker throughout the day but because the winds are coming from the south temperatures are within a few degrees of today. let me widen this out so you can see where the radar runs are over the ocean, at 7:00 wednesday morning and we will go until 5:00 on wednesday evening, and the clouds thicker and the wet weather still is best over the ocean, and maybe some drizzle loan -- along the coast wednesday night and at 7:00, thursday morning, that is when we are putting the turkey in.

high school. a man walking his dog found the boy outside the gym at montgomery high school with a head injury and cuts and scratches to his arms and hand. they are trying to determine to he attacked or fell from the roof of of the gym 30' above. >> detectives discovered several months ago this young man and several friends were here were at same campus and weren gamed in jumping from roof to roof to roof. one of the young men fell and broke a leg. >> the boy is in a medically induced coma. >> a police chase of a robbery suspect through west oakland ended in a watery mess after crabbing into -- crashing into a fire hydrant. officers arrested the suspect and his say they just robbed self people before leading officers on a chase.

punishment for the white students accused of harassing a black roommate. matt keller is on campus with a preview of the crucial meeting. matt? >> the black student union is holding a rally before the naacp resolution conference at noon today and they are calling it black monday. this is video from the rally held. organizers called that black thursday as students showed support for the alleged victim if this case. the prosecution says four white freshmen used racial slurs again the then 17-year-old black student inside their campus housing and decorated rooms with nazi images and put a bicycle lock around his neck and blocked him inside his room. they were suspended from the university. three have been charged with misdemeanor hate crime and battery and the four is the a -- the fourth is a juvenile. the naacp will hold a press conference with the state and international organization and state leadership calling on the

shows ticket prices have gone up and the number of seats have again down. the average fare at oakland international is $294 with seat available down 39 percent since 2005. in san jose the average ticket is $330 with the number of seats down 27 percent the opposite at sfo, though, where the average ticket is now $414 but the number of seats have gone up by 22 percent. winter weather will cause travel delays across the country as we enter the busy thanksgiving travel week. a driver in oklahoma city lost control and rolled interest a ditch and air travelers at dallas-ft. worth are getting stranded bike and 300 flights are canceled and flooding in phoenix from a machine soon. forecasters say the storms could bring rain, sleet, snow or ice. boy, here, we have to worry about the cold but after that it
