>> good morning, everyone. i'm carolyn tyler. thanks for joining us on this sunday, december 1st. let's start with a quick first look at the weather with meteorologist lisa argen. >> hello, december. good morning. we looking at live doppler 7hd. right now no problems. we aren't even picking up any fog. we will see a little develop by the delta, otherwise it's off again to a sunny and warm afternoon. but before we get there we are in the upper 30s in parts of the north bay, upper 40s around the bay. coastline in the mid-40s right now. we had all the fog yesterday. by noontime plenty of sunshine. low to mid-60s, yes, in december and into the low 70s around the bay today with mid-and upper 60s at the

coast. a quick cooling tonight. we will be look at some big changes headed our way in about a day and a half, carolyn. >> whether he look for that. thank you, lisa. family members of a bay area man held captive in north korea are happy to see the 85-year-old korean war vet is in good health. he appears in a videotape released this weekend by north korean state-run news agency. the palo alto man is apologizing for his role in the north korean war. he said he secretly trained anti-communists during the war. >> laid the munitions for it, using explosives obtained from attacking the mine. >> he read from what the state news agency called an apology letter. in it he confesses to acts against north korea committed during the war and even during his recent trip.

furious" movies is being mourned by family, friends and fans this morning. he died yesterday in a fiery southern california car crash. he was a passenger riding in a friend's porsche that burst into flames after hitting a tree or post just north of los angeles. the driver was also killed. walker made dozens of films and often performed his own stunts. two of walker's friends heard the crash and rushed to the scene. >> we heard the crash. we heard the explosion. we got up here as quick as we could to find out what it was. >> there was nothing. we tried. we went through five fire extinguishers. >> okay. >> social media is buzzing with tributes this morning. his "fast & furious" co-star posted an instagram saying brother, i will miss you very much, i'm absolutely speechless. and another tweeted your humble

spirit was felt from the start. wherever you blessed your presence you also always left a mark. we were like brothers. paul walker was just 40 years old. a two-year-old vallejo boy is in critical condition this morning after falling into the water during a fishing trip with his grandmother. the fire department rescued the boy from the creek that runs along the road near the six flags discovery kingdom. crews pulled him out just after 4:00 yesterday afternoon. the grandmother was unable to reach the boy because she could not swim. firefighters quickly located him in a drainage culvert. they say he was under water for about ten minutes. they were able to get a pulse at the scene before he was taken to the hospital. any this morning, sonoma county supervisors are expected to devote this week on a number of possible actions to memorialize a 13-year-old santa rosa boy who was shot and killed by a sheriffs deputy last month. andy lopez was carrying a rifle

the sheriffs deputy mistook for a real one. shooting on october 22nd has since generated a wave of anger and protest from the community. the santa rosa press democrat reports one possible healing action supervisors may take on tuesday is to create a park bearing lopez' name in the neighborhood where he grew up and died. teenage burn victim sasha fleischmann is looking forward to return to high school tomorrow after being released from a san francisco hospital on wednesday. the teen celebrated at home after suffering from we're burns in a hate crime. he was riding on a bus when a 16-year-old boy set the teenager's skirt on fire while sasha was sleeping. sasha suffered major burns on the leg. chronicle said the straight-a

student is looking forward to getting back to work as editor of the school magazine. the boy who set the fire, 16-year-old richard thomas, has been charged as an adult with two felony hate crimes. the south bay police say the shooting death of a 92-year-old woman and her 89-year-old husband is a murder-suicide. a relative who went to check on the couple discovered the bodies yesterday afternoon in their apartment on union avenue in campbell. the names of the couple has not been released. it's been a particularly dangerous holiday weekend on bay area roads. four people have died in traffic accidents since thanksgiving. three of the four were pedestrian hit while walking on freeways. the latest fatality, an excellent on the we felt bound lanes of highway 84 on the dumbarton bridge friday night. a man was hit by a car and killed. the chp is reminding drivers to not get out of their cars on busy roadways.

reporter john alston has more on a new survey about the wave of mistrust. >> reporter: the season of giving is not necessarily the season of trusting. neither is the rest of the year, for that matter. americans don't trust others a whole lot, according to a new "associated press" survey. people who prepare your feed when you eat out. 50% of americans don't trust them. >> there are places i don't go because i don't trust them or i don't care for the place. >> two-thirds of americans don't trust the people who swipe their credit cards when they go to a restaurant or other business. >> it can go bad, either way. that's why i use cash. >> i would probably be more concerned with a credit card. i know what you are sag, there is probably more to worry about with the food. worst if you send it back, right? >> trust has been slipping like a ice rink.

for new career opportunities. if you would like to find out more about the disease, you can go to abc7news.com. happening today, state senator jay hill will discuss a new law that takes effect new year's day authorizing fish and wildlife wardens to use only nonlethal methods when responding to reports of mountain lions in populated areas. groups plan to join him in half moon way to celebrate the new protection will that applies when mountain lions are in nonthreatening situations in populated areas. it also authorizes fish and wildlife to partner with nonprofits to resolve those situations where people and mountain lion's share the same habitat. the bill was introduced a year ago after two mountain lions cub were shot and killed by state game wardens. happening today world aid day tributes are being held for those who lost their lives during the 30 years battling the

disease. hundreds gathered last night at the national a.i.d.s. memorial grief in golden state park. the entire grove was illuminated as a result of the tribute. supporters will again gather at the grove for a formal program and recognition of those who fight hiv-aids. and that will be followed by the reading of the games chosen grade in the circle of friends for raising funds to support the ongoing battle against the disease. meteorologist lisa argen is here now talking about the weather. it has really been mild out there. >> you won't be saying that next week. >> okay. >> it's really going to get cold and blustery around here. but we have a couple more days to enjoy the mild weather. in fact, the warmest day will be today. a look at live doppler 7hd. yesterday we had tons of fog. there was fog from napa, by the delta, also a little bit along

the central coast. but overall we are clear and cold out there just by a couple degrees cooler than yesterday morning. here's a look from our roof camera. and nice view here with the mildest reading in san francisco. 44 in oakland. good morning, redwood city. it's 42 there. and 44 for you in los gatos. half moon bay at 45 degrees. nice vantage point from our sutro tower camera where we will enjoy another beautiful afternoon. upper 30s. it's a cold start once again. napa, santa rosa, a little fog there. look at temperatures in the upper 30s by the delta. low 40s for concord and livermore sitting the 40 degrees this morning. and finally our exploratorium camera where you will notice the lights out there and the forecast highlights. clear and cold with a little bit of patchy fog. warmest day today. numbers will reach 70 degrees. maybe a little warmer than that on the far north end of the bay and perhaps in the santa clara valley. over into the east bay almost as mild and colder and windy next

week. i've left out the word "shower." there is a slight chance, but the incoming system not bringing us much moisture. a ridge of high pressure building into the eastern pacific, allowing for another mild day. we are looking at the trajectory, unfortunately, of this system to bring this mostly a dry cold front. today they are to the ahead of it. sunny and mild. in fact a piece of tomorrow too will also be sunny and mild. take a look at our satellite perspective here that brings us out into the next 24 to 48 hours. you can see right there that's the beginning of the much colder air mass. we go into the day, 3:00 in the afternoon on monday. and we still are look at some mild readings to the south of the city and also parts of the bay area will still be mild but then the onshore flow kicks up. here comes the colder air. possibility of showers coming in late monday into tuesday and then this air mass settling right on in, allowing for the

blustery, cool conditions and potential for several freezing mornings here, beginning on wednesday. so a look at high temperatures today. we are a world away from that, right? with numbers around 70, san rafael and napa, san jose. at the coast mid-60s. light wind, 69 in santa cruz. the accuweather seven-day forecast, the warmert day today. low to mid-60s at the coast and 5 degrees cooling ahead of the system. monday knight into tuesday, the only possibility really of showers. look at the high temperatures just in the others and overnight lows in the 40s. there's a little recovery. we will wait until next weekend for that. we have another news resource for you on twitter. a big, big cool down about two days away. >> that's a dramatic change, as

and also up by the delta. otherwise typically cool for napa and santa rosa with the mildest readings. san francisco and oakland in between in the mid-40s and low 40s by the east bay valleys. a little fog this morning. visibility may get a also bit dicey out by the delta, but then look what happens. we have a light, offshore flow. yep, 60s and 70s returning today. but that's not the whole story. we've got much cooler air and some freezing temperatures. the possibility of showers for most of the upcoming work week. i'll have the details in a few minutes. carolyn. >> all right, lisa. thank you. eight people have died in a helicopter crash in scotland. a police helicopter slammed into a crowded public on friday. the three people on board died, along with five others who were inside the bar. investigators from throughout the united kingdom are sifting through the helicopter wreckage, look for clues into what brought it down. an alaskan woman is being called a hero this morning after

she survived a plane crash and walked a mile in frigid weather to find help. the crash killed her 25-month-old son and three others on board. coffee and five others survived but were seriously injured. president obama's self-imposed deadline for getting all the kinks out of the healthcare website passed yesterday but it's still not operational this morning. a government press conference was postponed until today. how well it's going depends on who you ask. >> important parts of the government's health insurance website will be out of operation longer than usual this weekend. healthcare.gov continues to need maintenance and repairs. >> the rollout of new healthcare marketplace was rough and the website is continually working better so check it out. >> there's a long line of

continues to build into the eastern pacific. that's going to give us a slight offshore flow today. that builds the ridge. as it does, that means temperatures, don't be surprised to see some 70s today. average highs in the north and south end of the bay should be just in the upper 50s. so well above normal today. in fact tomorrow we are still going to have the ridge of high pressure, but from this vantage point you can see the beginning of this cold, low pressure center that is dropping from the gulf of alaska. it's spinning right there and it will drop down right along the coastline. but the short term, the next 30 hours to 3*6 hours, we have the mild pattern continuing and as this slowly slides to the south, it will bring a couple inches of snow in the sierra nevada. for us just the chance, more likely gusty winds ant chilly conditions. 58 today in tahoe. warmer than yesterday. 67 in monterey. that's warmer than yesterday. and a look at our own bay area
