update the accident later in the newscast. our our other top story a holiday scrooge problems the dreams of a high school band in san jose. an armed robber steals thousands from a fundraiser that was supposed to support the high school band for the entire year and pay if their trips overseas. we are joined from the high school. this happened at bingo game? >> yes, and the game started all the way back in 19833 to raise main for the band and last night is the first time it was be rod. the band room in source san jose is filled with hundreds trophies and awards. they have marched in presidentialing inaugurations and international parades. their future could be altered after a weekly bingo game to raise money for the program was robbed. >> our booster treasurer said that we have been robbed at

september of last year. police believe surveillance video would help. >> 36-year-old antioch man is facing charges of assault with a deadly weapon driving with a shredded front tire led officers on an hour long high-speed chase which topped out at 100 miles per hour. investigators say it started when the suspect hit an officer with the car as he tried to get away during a traffic stop. >> federal mediator is sitting down with bart and the two largest unions this time over a disputed clause in the contract that ended the strike. the clash now is the center of an ugly lawsuit. we are in oakland. amy? >> a bart spokesman says this is a positive step and there is some optimism here, this is the first time that the two sides have sat down on this issue. there is also a little bit of uncertainty with people not knowing quite what to specific.

street at interstate 580 completely shut down in one direction, westbound direction of 580 and the traffic is backed up for miles and miles and miles and the eastbound direction we have one lane still closed. three lanes are open. it is moving to the right of your screen but this accident is terrible. we have heard there is one fatality. this happened at 10:00 this morning and it looks like it will take them quite a while to investigate the accident, clear the wreckage, clear the hazardous material from the roadways. we will continue to follow this on twitter. >> a study finds women with a high risk of breast cancer could have a new tool for reduce their chance of getting the disease. researchers in the u.k. looked at a drug an estrogen reducing pill for breast cancer, and women who took the bill each day

good morning, everyone, we will start with live doppler 7 hd to show you the visibility and how they are below ten miles in many areas around the bay, the thick are haze we are seeing this morning because of the stronger inversion that is trapping more of the pollution down at the lower levels where we breathe and the reason why we are having the "spare the air". look at this, it looks different than it has earlier this week and a very good clue there as you can see we could have poor air quality especially down in the south bay today, all of us banned from burning wood again, the sixth consecutive, the most in a row, the nine the in a row. as far as temperatures, we are stepping out, elsewhere in the upper 40's to low 50's in many areas and 53 right new in antioch for the warm spot and 46 in santa rosa if the cool spot and oakland is 48 and 50 in san jose and 40's along the bay shore and 52 in san francisco and los gatos and 57 at half moon bay, so you can tell we have an offshore wind.

across the north bay you can see from the tower a thin film of haze over there as the milder temperatures come in today and that has put the cap on the atmosphere with the sun turning this over and we well see warmer weather in the afternoon. there is possible frost inland this evening with temperatures 28 or below for a couple of hours and probably not going to happen anymore and the extended show record highs possible monday and tuesday. first, those we are watching from our roof camera, a little bit of a breeze blowing through san francisco and today the temperatures are going to be anywhere from one to three degrees warmer than yesterday and within two degrees of where we should be. we have rebounds in the afternoon back to normal with 61 at oakland and morgan hill, and 60 at san jose and santa cruz and everyone else in the mid-to-upper 50's and a few high clouds are possible late in the afternoon as a cold front draws near. now, partly cloudy tone, and it was a modification of the air mass we could see frost inland

with low-to-mid 30's but most us in the upper 30's to low 40's and san francisco is the warm spot at 43 degrees. watch the yeah high pressure being pushed to the east just a little bit and the other one over the ocean being pushed to the south because of this very poeent front that stays north of us with high pressure low clockwise and it will stay in the of us, we will see the high clouds roll in and when they do the cold front will slip through and it will introduce a warmer and cleaner air mass, soup more to low 60's tomorrow, and possibly not a "spare the air" day, but low-to-mid 60's through tuesday and tuesday where a few areas may jump up to 70 and set some reports and cooler on wednesday, and start saturday through next week we will have above-average temperatures. >> heat wave. >> we will take it. our last night was opening night for san francisco's ballet the nutcracker, a holiday favorite. that is why our traffic

reporter, leyla gulen, is here with us. you very experienced dancer and took classes at the san francisco ballet. >> many years ago, yes. well, it was great, i got an exclusive and candid look as they put the finishing touches on a time awayed tradition all the hard work by so many people to pick sure that the show doesn't have a crack in it. by now, i'm sure you recognize the music. the dance of the sugar plum fairies that is synonymous with christmas. they are making final items to the "nutcracker." the dancers perfect all their steps including lift and the audiences will be able to more develop at the snowflakes and the flowers, the prince and, of course, the sugar plum fairy.
