homes >> alameda county fire has a strike team en route to the front lines. >> reporter: a lot of progress has been in part because there has been calm winds or no winds but the fire is still moving. let me show you up the hills next to our base camp. you can see how smoky they are. we've seen smoke getting closer to camp this, is a mid december fire caught a lot of residents here by surprise. the fire chief was among the first to be called to respond to the forest fire and one of the people affected. this is a picture of her home. >> i walked out of the front door, ashes were coming by my front door. >> she wasn't able to help battle the fire, she tried to save her house, but wasn't able to. >> came up so fast. a steep hill

and a windy night. there is wind from fire. whether me or anyone else, it's just devastating. >> hers is one of 15 homes destroyed by flames. 100 people remain evacuated and crews had ideal firefighting weather all day the fire is burning in steep mountains. >> mountains and hills, dry fuels coming off two years of brought is our main challenge. >> december is one of the biggest surprises of the fire. it continues to burn about 200 homes remain threatened smchlt mobilized to help their neighbors clear out fresh and other growth to create safety permanent ters for homes, we saw others packing up and getting ready to go. and crews are

pollution here, very dirty air. we have a spare the air has been issued. the second one. santa clara valley, poor air qualitiment people asking about the sim fire in redwood city. now, looking at fire conditions smoke making it up towards monterey but not to our area. winds are flight light. we're expecting winds starting our animation, wednesday, 5:00 p.m to pick up around there. so hopefully, will be able to get wind, fire under control. gusts 36 miles per hour. out of the northwest, then, up to 43 by thursday afternoon before winds start to die down. humidity goes up and that should help out. i'll be back with our local forecast in just a few minutes. >> breaking news out of marino.

last week at childrens hospital. her family was told she is brain dead . >> i do sleep. i sleep by my niece trying to figure out ways to keep her alive. >> the hospital pefsh yoermd a final brain scan but did issue a statement saying the staff is doing everything in it's capacity to provide support to the family. >> 11 people injured in a kitchen explosion in a kitchen explosion in dublin. inmates were baking in an oven when it exploded a door shot off the hinges and hit one inmate in the head he's in critical condition. >> you've got to understand that this is a very large oven the door is taller than i am. it's significant door on there. for one reason or another there was overpressure inside of the oven causing the door to be blown off.
