students inside yesterday. >> firefighters have the big sur fire 20 percent contained but winds are expected the next 24 hours. the 800 acre while fire that broke out on sunday has destroyed 17 homes including the home of fire chief. five other structures have been destroyed, as well, and 300 families remain evacuated. crews say the fire will grow in the next day or so with winds expected to reach 30 miles per hour. >> a vigil is planned for the 13-year-old oakland girl who is brain dead following surgery. katie marzullo is in the newsroom. >> the 13-year-old jahi mcmath is on life support this morning and her family is asking for world-wide prayer in a vigil in oakland tonight from 6:00 to 7:00. the family's attorney served children's hospital with a cease and desist order and hours later the hospital agreed to keep jahi mcmath on a ventilator after the latest eeg test showed no brain

actist. she went into cardiac arrest after having the tonsils removed. her mother said her daughter's life is in god's hands not doctors. >> she is sleeping, and i just pray over her and let her know we are fighting for you, your mother will never stop fighting for you. >> the hospital claims under california law they have the legal right to remove the girl from life support because of her condition. the family attorney says those laws were designed to prevent people from taking family members off life support not keep them on it. the family has no timetable for removing her from life support and when asked how long the family will wait, her uncle said "until she wakes up." >> this morning, oakland police are investigating a deadly accident involving a bicyclist and a big rig. the vehicle hit the woman at 5th and market. she may have been clipped as the driver turned a corner.

the truck dragged her and the bicycle down 5th street. a witness followed the truck and called police. officers pulled the truck over seven blocks later on birthday way. >> bart and the unions are expected to resume talks with a federal mediator meeting twice last week to reach a final agreement over the dispute involving six weeks of paid family leave in the contract that ended the october strike. the bart directors say that provision was left in by mistake after both agreed to take it off the table. the bart board accepted the contract minus that part which resulted in the union's filing a lawsuit. >> the richmond city council voted to move forward where a plan to prevent foreclosures. of richmond homeowners have mortgages higher in value than their home. the "san francisco chronicle" reports the city council voted 4-2 to set up guidelines on how the city would use the power of imminent domain to restructure the mortgages.
