long. >> thank you, matt. the family of a 13-year-old girl who is brain dead followington sill surgery is holding a prayer vigil and hoping for a miracle as they fight to keep her on life support. katie marzullo is at children's hospital in oakland. katie? >> i talked with family members at the hospital. jahi mcmath's grandmother and uncle. there are no formal interviewing. they wanted to pass long they are still asking everyone to pray for jahi mcmath and hoping for a big turnout tonight at the vigil here in oakland at paradise baptist church. the family has had one prayer answered. that was when children's hospital agreed to keep the 13-year-old girl on life support. that came a few hours after the family attorney served the hospital with a cease and desist order. the family says the hospital was going to take jahi mcmath off the ventilator after the eeg

test showed no brain activity. she went into cardiac arrest after having her tonsils remove ed. >> we are happy they have backed off. we are not on doctor's time now, but we are on god's time. it has provided us more time to get together and pray. >> i believe god has the final say for my daughter. i want everyone to pray for her everywhere. >> the hospital claims under california law it has the legal right to remove the girl from life support because of her condition. it also says that because of privacy issues it cannot "correct misperceptions created about the sad situation." yesterday, when we asked the uncle how long they would want to keep her on life support he said until she weighings up. another net from the grandmother who is will a nurse, telling us this morning that they have a lot of questions about what happened after her surgery.

bart and the big unions will resume talks with the mediator to reach a final agreement over a dispute involving the since weeks of paid family leave and a contract that ended the strike. the bart director says the provision was left by mistake. both sides had agreed to take it off the table but the board accepted the contract minus that part which was also means the union is filing a lawsuit. the district may have missed up another contract already approved by a union. this time, it involves a cost saving deal bart negotiated with the unions to change the time needed for new hires to box vested in the retiree medical insurance program. new details in about the wildfire burning which is burning near highway one in the national forest. the forest service says that the fire has burned 850 acres and is

historic donation being handed out right now and it is a surprise to the clients here at the food bank. they are getting a ham in their bag of food today. this food bank gives out the bags of food every month. it was a surprise they found out there would be a ham. usually there are just basics, canned food, rolled oats and this is an extra treat. this is because safe way and hormel, donating 800 hams, the largest donations of ham in the contra costa county food bank 40-your history. recipients say they are filmed. they are so happy to be able to have this as a centerpiece for their holiday meal. the executive director of the food bank tells us this is really air appreciated and need ed. my members have not again down. storm is doing great, the economy is doing great, it is not affecting the people we serve. we very much need to continue what we are doing and i greatly

appreciate what safe way and hormel are doing to make this a special distribution. >> we gut stuff like this it is so special. to me, ham and turkeys are stuff for the holidays. dinner and stuff. they started handing out the food an sure ago and have given out 500 hams which means they still have about 300 hams left. any will be here to noon if you want to come down they still have food. you need to be a bay point resident and prove it if you can. if you are struggling they would like to help and the food bank has more food and wants to give it out. we are in bay point and we will be here for another hour. volunteers at san francisco's glide are in the middle of a massive task: handing out 5,000

grocery bags for the holiday. it started at 7:30 at charity tenderloin headquarters. several blocks were closed because the lines are so long with thousands of recipients and 700 volunteers out there. each bag contains a turkey or chicken, along with potatoes, bread, pasta, rice, beans, and vegetables. everything that is needed to prepare a home-cooked holiday meal. another 700 bags will be delivered tomorrow to those who cannot leave their home. >> new this morning, in the east bay, did you see santa? he is going around oakland on a harley passing out toys to children who have been good this year. it is part of the oakland police department's annual motor santa operation. here he is on 73rd avenue talking to boys and girls. >> he should come by here. >> we have been good. new study is shedding light on the drugs teens are using.

the search is underway in san francisco for two men who stole an a.t.m. machine from a
