live from the kgo-tv broadcast center this is abc7 news. >> good morning, thanks for joining us. >> developing news new san francisco's union square. a chain reaction accident sent two people to the hospital. police say a city public works truck rear ended a mercedes s.u.v. at 8:30. the s.u.v. slammed into a yellow cab and the taxi collided with a fourth vehicle. all but the city trucks suffered major damage. the roads have been clears and police are trying to determine what led up to the accident. >> christmas cheer has turned into christmas jeers after a lot of disappointed online shoppers were without their presents on

the holiday. u.p.s. and fedex are facing their wrath on social media. nick is at the distribution center in san francisco and people are still waiting for their packages. >> absolutely. we have been follow this story all day, just a few minutes ago i talked to some rather frustrated customers. >> it has been a nightmare. >> this shipping center had people waiting in line before the doors opened because many of the christmas eve deliveries promised never made it, making customers fuming. >> christmas presents are in that package so here i am, thursday morning, obviously, the day after christmas, coming to get my packages. >> u.p.s. is working around the clock to resolve the issue. this distribution center in south san francisco was buzzing with pre-dawn activity but this morning, i still found angry customers sounding off. wondering if i can get i fund to overnight delivery paid on 12/

12/19, didn't deliver by 25. >> thank now making my son sad and u.p.s. help is no help. they are horrible. never again will i trust you. >> not all shots were fired at u.p.s. fedex took hits, too. one doctor wrote "major christmas failure by fedex, my guaranteed delivery by yesterday package still hasn't arrived. thanks for ruining christmas. >> some blamed shoppers waiting until the 11th other to buy. if you wait until the last minute to buy your gifts you run the risk of not receiving your gift on time. it happens. a spokesman for u.p.s. cited a backlog in the midwest and an ice storm in dallas-ft. worth 2 1/2 weeks ago. amazon is e-mailing those affected and offering to refund shipping costs and provide $20 gift card.

are hoping to get rid of their left over inventory. amy hollyfield is in pleasant hill. what do you see, aim? >> the crowds are not too bad. we are at ko hl's open for 108 hours straight headed into christmas eve and open again this morning but the people are not here. if you are thinking of shopping today and worried about the crowds don't think twice. >> they barely took a break for christmas opening back up at 5:00 a.m. this morning although there wasn't a huge crowd here. those who did show up looking for bargains had the store to themselves. >> the parking lot is...sparse. >> this was a handful of stores that offered more hours than usual, to make up for the short season. macy's offered deep discounts.

member of the community. two lawsuits are being heard. one was filed by california federation of teachers and the other by the city attorney suing to stop a move to revoke the accreditation. the lawsuits contend the accreditation commission is violating state law and is bias against city college but the commission says that the school has failed to comply with financial and academic standards. without the accreditation they lose the federal funds and are forced to close next year. the family of an oakland girl who is on life support will meet to discuss whether to appeal a judge's decision to have her breting tube removed after she was left brain dead after a routine tonsillectomy. the parents spent christmas at the hospital with jahi mcmath and put up a christmas tree and presents and the family is thinking about moving jahi mcmath to another facility to be kept on life support.

the video provided to the "washington post" is not the first. a similar video was released last year. the officials have repeatedly said that washington will not bargain with terrorists. the target is responding this morning to claims that hackers who hit managed to steal customer's encrypted bank pins what could have been compromised because banks decided to limit withdrawals of affected customers. target admits names, account numbers and expiration dates were exposed but denies the pins were compromised. the company said they would offer free credit monitoring for a year to everyone impacted by this crime. >> this morning, five teens are facing misdemeanor charms after a huge fight broke out outside a florida movie theater. police describe it as a christmas day melee with up to 600 teens involved in the brawl.

covering santa clara, san francisco, east bay, and all bay area, this is abc7 news. people in big sur are learning what happened at a meeting taking place where the united states forest service. 100 evacuees were allowed to run home and the fight for the fire started december 15 the in los padres national forest sparked by an illegal camp fire. by the time it was over, 34 homes were destroyed and 900 acres of forest land were scorched. there are still 115 firefighters in the area. >> 19-year-old palo alto native is the youngest man in the world to ski to the south pole. he and his expedition partner

it is dry again and a lack of clouds showing up. we will head to the south if you are going that way high fire danger through 6:00 with windy conditions, also, with the santa ana's kicking in. back home, for us, low 50's in oakland and concord and santa rosa and 52 there. the rest of us are in the mid-to-upper 50's and half moon bay is 66 degrees for the warm spot right now. check out the beach: ocean beach, specifically, with the rough surf and foams on the waves rolling in. record warmth is possible again today and poor air quality and a dry cold front coming through tomorrow, that could dip our temperatures but it is not strong enough to get rid of the poor air quality so tomorrow could be day 20 and sunny and warm and into the new year, possibly january 5 we could see a hint of a pattern change

bringing storms our way. from the east bay hills back across the bay, you can see the poorest air quality in oak, san francisco, and cupertino. those areas have the worst air quality. speaking of san jose, the south bay, right around cupertino, that is what we are looking at, oakland is 68 and record high yesterday and most everyone is 11 degrees warmer than this time than yesterday. san rafael and richmond are coolest at 63. the warmest is santa cruz and cloverdale at 70. tonight, the temperatures are about the same as this morning maybe a degree or two warmer because of the high clouds and low-to-mid 30's inland and upper 30's at the bay shore and san francisco is mildest at 47. it looks inviting to head to the
