13-year-old sandy lopez was shot and killed by a sheriff's deputy. the original memorial came down monday night. they believe someone torched it on purpose but others say a candle started the fire. they will gather to rebuild the shrine of flowers, candles, vow to go make it better than before. andy lopez was shot and killed by deputies when holding a toy gun looking lake an ak-47 assault rifle. police ever investigating an accident that killed one person and left another in critical condition. a 67-year-old woman died at the scene. it happened yesterday afternoon as they crossed heatherton street near third. both had the green light but one should have yielded. drugs and alcohol are not believed to be to be involved

from the accident >> police of investigating a shooting yesterday afternoon. they were over tapehorn drive not much after the shooting which was about 3:30 in the afternoon. san jose police responded to two men in their 30s fighting and arrived to find one had a knife. officers asked the man to drop it. when he refused and came toward her, she shot him. the suspect's wounds are not to be life-threatening. it's the first officer involved shooting for san jose this year. police want your help identifying a burglar. the man in this foe at the entered apartments located at nelson riding lane yesterday morning. he left when a tenant there could be fronted him. witnesses say they saw the same man rattling door handles earlier. if you recognize him you are asked to call the police department. atu union members have approved a tentative agreement with bart that ends months of

tower where temperatures this morning in san francisco have dropped into the 40s. otherwise redwood city is at 39. 42 in los gatos. half moon bay good morning to you. 46 degrees and a look from our roof camera. you can see the pretty lights and 35 isn't rosa down to 34, though, in napa, as well as novato and pretty chilly by the delta. inland east bay in the upper 30s if concord in livermore this morning. from our exploratorium camera, still dark. another two and a half hours until you see day light. with the morning coastal fog you may one into visibility issues. democratsing perhaps the golden gate bridge and the by bridge where the visibility has been reduced to about an eighth of a mile. so with the particulate bringing us some pollution today, it will be another spare the air day. in fact from our emeryville camera, looks good now but it's the santa clara valley that will have the poorist air quality. this is the 27th alert in the

5th consecutive day. once again we will be faced with high pressure firmly in control. as it builds to the east we will bet the offshore winds and the gusty santa ana winds for southern california. the jet stream allowing for the storm track to rise to the north. but by monday high pressure we cannens and here is what happens tuesday morning. the front falls apart as it pushes south but the green and the rain, this is it's getting awfully close. if we do see any, it will be a few drops. less than a tenth of an inch but the high pressure will be we cannening for a day or so. this high pressure cell, this arctic air mass strengthening in the midwest. that will bring chilly temperatures for the niners tomorrow. today just 24 in chicago with 11 in new york city. and you probably heard about the forecast there calling for some very dangerously low windchill factors of 25 to 45 degrees below zero.

with numbers dropping into the mid-30s from santa rosa. san francisco is at 47 with 39 in fremont, 39 in livermore and 42 this morning in san jose. a little fog at sfo, also over in oakland, reducing the visibility. we will have an offshore flow again today. that will bring plenty of sunshine but it is a spare-the-air day today. the worst air quality will be in the santa claraville. we will look for increasing sunshine throughout the morning hours and the temperatures slowly rising but this is the short term forecast. whether he take a look at the possibility of changes which could involve some raindrops coming up. katie. >> developing news out of antioch. an amber alert has been can sell. the girl was found safe and suspected kidnapper is in custody. 7-year-old example vo is back with her parents. somebody recognized the car. police are recognizing david douglas. they are not revealing what charges he faces but they earlier identified him as a

thursday night. police said he posed as a social worker and tried to take another woman's daughter but was scared off. police had previous encounters with him but is not a registered sex offender. tonight president obama and the first family will return from their holiday vacation in hawaii. in his weekly addressed he's urges congress to replace the unemployment benefits that more than 1 million americans lost a last weekend and congress allowed the benefits to expire. the president wants both parties to approve a three-month extension that's already under consideration in the senate. >> when congress comes back to work this week, their first order of business should be making this right. right now a bipartisan group in congress is working on a three-month extension of unemployment insurance. if they pass it, i will sign it. >> on the republican side, congressman greg harper of mississippi encouraged support for a healthcare initiative. the kids first research act. it redirects political convention funds to pay for

there's a slight chance of snow next week but only a few inches are expected. the warm temperatures and lack of rain have farmers in the central valley concerned about their crops. winters in the valley are usually cool and wet, a times for crops to go dormant, but not right now. after dealing with a freeze last month temperatures are in the 60s and the ground is so dry farmers are forced to irrigate their crops one or two months ahead of schedule. >> every morning i k wake up and check the forecast for rain and keep hoping and praying for it. >> farmers are also concerned the warm weather could fuel diseases and things to destroy the crops. it could have a major economic effect on the region. coming up next, the san francisco startup with the unusual goal. how it's using crowd funding to build the first indoor minute fur golf course. and a live look outside from our

the seven-year-old female lion has been caught and will be returned to a cage that's been thoroughly secured. the lion was found end side a ten foot high perimeter fence. officials told them to fix the cage last year to prevent this similar thing. >> highway 160 is going to be closed all night all next week. it connects highways 12 and 4. it will be off-limits from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. from january 6 until january 10th. the three mile bridge is getting a much-needed face-lift. work will be done to the roadway and the control house. caltran said the detour will force some commuters to drive as much as 80 miles to reach third destination. there will be signs up alerting motorists of the closers and detours. san jose's historic landmark

also over in oakland and higher clouds in the south bay. san jose is looking at not only temperatures in the 30s but high clouds, as well. a look at live doppler 7hd. not picking up any raindrops. we do have a slight opportunity tore that in the next 48 hours. here's a look from our sutro tower camera where we do have some chilly numbers, especially on the peninsula. san francisco sits at 47. oakland is at 46. 49 redwood city, as well as san jose and mid-40s-moon bay. los gatos at 41. right now from our roof camera, you will notice that we are looking at temperatures cooler if the north bay. also the delta and east bay. everybody in the 30s. 32 santa rosa, 34 napa with mid-30s novato and fairfield and 37 concord. livermore sitting at 39 degrees. finally the -- look out there for you where we will see plenty of sunshine today but it is another spare the air day today

and cooler temperatures by really monday as clouds increase, rain is possible tuesday and tuesday night. we are talking just a few raindrops. so with another spare the air day on the horizon, we are looking at the santa clara valley with the poorest air quality. this is the 27th alert. the record is back i think in 2007 with 30 spare the air days and this is the fifth consecutive day. so we've had some high clouds from time to time but we are looking at high pressure building back in today to the east of us ask that will give us that offshore flow and allowing for pretty clear conditions overall where the jet stream will rise well to the north. but we do have a system that will move into northern california as the high weakens on monday. but between now and then, we are looking at that snowpack that is very, very small with just 10% in the northern sierra. we are about 19% of normal. whereas last year we had 131% of

normal. the central and southern sierra faring just a little pit better. here's the system i talk about as we go through the work week. you will notice that the systems want to move a little bit further south. will they make it? perhaps the north by would see a few drops. but if we do see any, we will look for less than a tenth of an inch. in terms of high temperatures, perhaps a few records around the by. looking at upper 60s to near 70 in the north bay and plenty of upper 60s from palo alto to san jose. normal high should be about 60 in san jose with mid-50s in oakland. that's as much as 10 degrees above average. the accuweather seven-day forecast. it's the spare the air day today. maybe a few degrees of cooling tomorrow. still above normal. clouds increase monday, slight chance of showers tuesday. cooler thursday and fry and we are looking at more mild weather. >> mild? >> yeah. >> keyword. >> that's the word. >> all right. thank, lisa.
