morning the fbi briefed reporters on arrest the criminal complaint gave insight into the investigation. fbi agents reviewed video from the security camera that shows a minivan and a man carrying large objects moments later a large fireball explodes the blast destroyed the main entrance. two days later the fbi made an arrest. >> last friday law enforcement arrested a 39-year-old from daily city, california in connection with the fire. >> the criminal complaint says he called daily city police friday saying he set the fire, officers took him into custody and called the fbi he told investigators he doused the entrance with three containers of gasoline, then attempted to light a fire with his passport but the fire did not ignite. he then used a large lighter to

ignite one container the second attempt was successful. the fbi believes this is a criminal case. >> there are no indications suggesting it was motivated by terrorism, politics or civil rights issues. >> the motive is mysterious, court documents reveal he told the fbi he targeted the chinese consulate because voices he had been hearing were in chinese. and the chinese consulate had to have been involved officials say they'll monitor the case and say they're trying to find out more about him, he is a chinese national living here >> it's information from our own system. >> through the pass ports and all that have? >> yes. trying to get more information. >> the fbi would not comment on

person is deeased. >> one owner says they did leave open the possibility she might be transfer there'd at some point. a criminal case against a student accused of a hate crime moved forward today. an 18-year-old covered his face this morning. the student today pleaded not guilty to a misdemeanor hate crime and battery charges. prosecutor says they used racial slurs and hung nazi paraphernalia in the housing unit. the alleged victim supports criminal charges >> he is strong young man and he is back in school, moving forward with his life. and he doesn't like the spotlight. but understands how important this case is. >> the attorney says he's an honor engineering student and

kidnapping a 7-year-old girl friday night. they found him thanks to an amber alert. abc7 news went to antioch and spoke to people who know the suspect n a portion of antioch a second dose of disbelief about the son of a neighbor.. >> i know the family. it's a good family. >> tonight david allen douglas remains in custody held on $4 million bail facing charges of kidnapping and possibly sexually abusing a 7-year-old girl. she'd been staying in this home. >> he's a nice guy. i don't know. you know? extreme crazy? i don't know. it's odd. >> police tell us douglas had been stalking children in this parking lot on thursday and friday. that is when he followed the victim and her mother and abducted her from in front of her home. they found douglas only because roxanna ramirez saw

believe father freed was the victim of just a random attack. today parishioners paid final respects to freed in eureka. the 56-year-old had deep ties to the bay area, teaching religion and served as a chaplain and said mass for san francisco's japanese community. a woman the president says helped pull the nation out of recession has been confirmed she was an economist before heading to washington, d.c. yellen has been vice chair of the u.s. central bank since 2010. the president release aid response saying quote, i'm confident janet will protect consumers and keep our economy growing for years still to come. yellen will begin february 1st >> still ahead here tonight on abc7 news a look at the bay area water supply after the driest year on record. why local water
