a travel day ritual. the 49ers are hungry for another playoff win practicing for the last time at their headquarters before trying off to north carolina. what do you see the man of men to decide the other hunger? >> this is the chris combo. we do not tell people what is in it. it is unlawful even on the menu. >> the deli is popular with the bay area professional sports teams. the sandwiches are so good that the 49ers order them each time they travel for a game. today, the coaches and players request 65 sandwiches for the road. you hope they will be the lucky sandwich. you don't want to be the bad luck sandwich. they fuel off the java juice from santa clara and are planning on a big party this weekend. >> >> super excited. will have people at the house and good luck to the 49ers.

it will be an electric game. the sandwiches were delivered and the game starts on sunday at 10:05 in the morning. las vegas smarts books have the 49ers favored by one point. thank you, matt, our sports director will be traveling to charlotte to covert 49ers and will bring us complete post-game coverage including another vernon view on sunday night with one-on-one interview with larry and you can follow larry on twitter for inside look at the game. the california department of public health held a news conference moments ago updating members on the flu virus that is sickening so many. there are seven deaths confirmed from the flu this season. of those, three are in the bay area. one is in alameda county, one in contra costa county, and one in san francisco county. the numbers are expected to rise. the centers for disease control

is saying another 28 deaths are under investigation. h1n1 is the same strain that is blamed for 607 deaths across the state during 2009 pandemic. bay area hospitals are scrambling to expand efforts to temporarily deal with the influx of flu patients. san jose regional medical center set up three tests to help with the dramatic increase in sick people. stanford has similar flu tents going up as the hospital goes through veteran novation and deals with uptick in flu patients. the flu is affecting a lot of people including some at uc berkeley. amy hollyfield aim has that story. amy? >> health officials have seen a few cases of the flu come in, not an unusual number. the campus is quiet. they are on winter break. they are expecting the number to

go up as students return to cam russ. from what we have heard on campus it sounds like they have their work cut out for them. health care officials are busy ready for the return of students from the winter break and what they predict a a busy flu season. we will have pop-up clinics where they can come in without an point to take care of large number of students in a short period. >> they decided to do the pop-up clinics when they hear the swine flu is back. >> >> we did it in the past when h1n1 first showed up and one time we vaccinated 600 people in two hours. >> officials encourage and promote the flu vaccine, it sounds like they need to do more outreach. no one is vaccinated. >> i haven't thought about that.

stopped and is cooperating with the investigation. the c.h.p. is looking for the driver of an early 2000 model blue chevrolet but investigators do not know if he hit the man or witnessed the wreck but they want to talk to all witnesses. >> anyone else who saw anything especially this driver who may or may not have been involved. >> c.h.p. shut down three lanes of westbound 580 while officers investigated and cleared the scene bringing the commute to a standstill. >> c.h.p. re-opened all lanes before 9:00 more than two hours after the accident. the man who was killed is about 40 and he owns a lot of motorcycles. breaking overnight: a woman was killed and another injured in a single car crash at port of oakland hitting a pole after midnight. the driver died at the hospital. her passenger is hospitalized

warmer at 64 and most of us are warmer, and oak is 63 and santa rosa is 66, a degree cooler. temperatures are in the low-to-mid 60's around the bay inland because of the clouds this morning, and you will lag just a little bit behind in the coast, upper 50's the tonight, it will be cloudy and mild with most of us in the 40's and some drizzle as we head through the only hours, you can see the red area across the sonoma county coast which is the best area but any of us could have patchy drizzle in the morning. warm air on the back side of the high rotating clockwise and that is the first part of the storm that will miss us. the second part of the storm is the cold front that will promise us a better chance of rain although it won't be much, at the top of the screen, coming through mendocino county there are yellows and orange ons and when it moves into the north bay it tapers to green and this will happen define 8:00 and noon, and noon to 2:00 you will notice the dark grens are gone and from
