good morning, i'm marci gonzalez in for diana perez. >> and i'm john muller. we begin with the breaking news overnight. the southwest airlines flight that wound up at the wrong airport in missouri. >> it was supposed to land at branson's main airport. it came down at the much smaller taney county airport several miles to the north. >> reporter: it wasn't the arrival in the resort town of branson that passengers were expecting. is out west flight 4013 started in chicago and ended up at the wrong airport. >> the pilot came on and said, i'm sorry, folks, we have landed at the wrong airport. >> reporter: on this map, the solid green line shows where the flight went. the blue dotted line is where it was supposed to go. >> we had a very hard landing. brakes were applied forcefully.

we were lurched forward a little bit. i was glad i had my seat belt on in that case. you smelled burned rubber on the landing. >> reporter: the runway, about half the size of the one at the flight's intended destination. the plane came to a stop several hundred feet from a steep dropoff at the end of the runway. one passenger was recording as the pilot apologized. >> rest assured, we're safe and sound here. people know we're here. >> reporter: southwest brought in ground crews to take care of the passengers and their baggage. >> there doesn't seem to be a reason you would miss it. so you're sort of at a loss and you're wondering, you know, what exactly happened. >> reporter: this was the second time in less than two months that a large jet landed at the wrong airport. in november, a 747 carrying parts for an air force base in kansas landed nine miles from where it was supposed to.

for now, southwest and several federal agencies are looking into last night's mistakes. the passengers took buses to the correct airport and some continued on to dallas. southwest says the jet will be able to take off from that shorter runway. the airline expects to fly out as early as this morning. hundreds of thousands of west virginians are heading into a fifth day without water. residents were warned last week not the drink, cook, or bathe if the water after a chemical leak in the elk river. now people are questioning whether the water company could have prevented the crisis. >> you can see where there were cracks in it. where the chemical came through it. the conditions of the plant were not good. the danger was known to the previous owner and the danger was known to the current owner. >> and business owners are now complaining about the revenue they've lost. the do not use order remains in place until test results stabilize. after last week's deep freeze, this weekend's big thaw causing major flooding worries

for millions of americans. in western new york, it looks like the tide rolled in. roads and lakes right there turned into roads. residents said they haven't seen it so bad since the blizzard of '77. crews used boats and a bulldozer to help those trapped. >> two floors. all the way to the top of my stairs. up to my kitchen. the cars are underwater. >> the coast guard is deploying ice breakers on rivers to prevent waters from rising any further. parts of the northeast still under flood watches this morning. today's weather, a wintry mix for the pacific northwest. clear and sunny for the southwest. light snow in the upper midwest. they'll stretch down into the ohio valley. as rain showers edge northward from the gulf up into the tennessee valley. temperatures much milder this monday than last. 50s in the pacific northwest. 70s in the southwest. mild in the midwest and up into the northeast.

moving on to the so called "bridgegate" controversy. two former aides to chris christie may be served legislative subpoenas today. lawmakers investigating the case want to know why those aides took action to close lanes of the george washington bridge which led to massive traffic tieups. last week, christie said he had no prior knowledge of their actions. iran has agreed to daily inspections by international experts next week. president obama welcomed the deal saying it will advance our goal of preventing iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon. former prime minister ariel sharon being remembered today. in a memorial service. he died over the weekend after being if a coma for eight years. vice president joe biden heading the u.s. delegation to the memorial service.

sharon will be buried later today at his ranch in southern israel. the first lady of france expected to be released from the hospital later today after being treated for depression. she checked herself in on friday the day that a magazine reported that the president of france was having an affair with a movie star. the couple never married but they've been living together for nine years. a big night for the hottest players in hollywood. the golden globes handed out to the best on the big and small screen. >> leading the pack, "american hustle." it picked up three awards. brandi hitt with more on the night's big wins. >> reporter: good morning, john and marci. "12 years a slave" took home the big award of the night, best motion picture drama. but it was "american hustle" that won the most awards, thanks to its leading ladies. hollywood's golden night kicked off with a big win for jennifer lawrence as best supporting actress in a motion picture. >> "american hustle." >> reporter: "american hustle"

welcome back. the list of retailers whose customer accounts were hacked could be growing. neiman marcus confirmed this weekend that card information of some of their customers may have been stolen in a cyberattack. those close to the investigation say fewer than 1 million cards were compromised, compared to 40 to 70 million target customers in the hack after black friday. gm's incoming ceo is making a splash in her first appearance after taking the job. mary barra rolled out the new gmc canyon pickup at the detroit auto show. however mobbed by reporters, she delivered apparently scripted answers to a variety of questions and no comments on some serious issues. and an issue for consumers is the sky-rocketing price of beef. the wholesale price of choice grade u.s. beef has set a new record thanks to last week's historic winter storm slowing

much of the nation is in a big thaw. things are still frozen over in duluth, minnesota. traffic there slipping and sliding all over the place. police say they responded to 65 crashes and stalled cars in the city yesterday alone. the ice forced a suspension of bus service for a few hours. >> man, oh, man. checking out your morning road conditions. flooded roads could continue to be a hazard throughout the northeast. rain will slicken roads across a wide swath of the southeast. a wintry mix of rain and snow is making things slippery in the upper midwest and the pacific northwest. and if you're flying, airport delays are possible in new orleans and minneapolis. moving on now to suspended baseball slugger alex rodriguez. over the weekend, an arbitrator reduced his suspension for allegedly using illegal performance-enhancing drugs from 211 games to 162 games.

>> today, a-rod and his attorneys are filing suit in federal court. they'll challenge the suspension. this is a separate lawsuit from the one that rodriguez filed in october that accused investigators of illegal behavior. >> there is no basis in reality for 162 games. there is no factual basis. there is to legal basis in the joint drug agreement if the collective bargaining agreement for anything more than 50 games. >> rodriguez maintains his innocence. last night on cbs, tony bosh, who allegedly provided the drugs, says he knows a-rod is guilty because he injected the drugs for him in the past. all right, this bmx stunt rider in texas must have been at maximum alertness. check this guy out. matt olson rides up and down the six 24-foot arches of a bridge in downtown ft. worth. >> wow. the top of that concrete arch is no wider than a sidewalk and has no guardrails. he said the stunt was to get publicity to get an invite to this year's summer x games in
