average. clear tonight. we have a long holiday weekend. i will let you know about the rain coming up >> thank you very much. it's 5:is 101. developing news in marin county are working to put out a wildfire west of fairfax this monk the fire reported near albino ladies and gentlemen around 9:30 last night. officials say it's an unusual place for a fire. but there's no need to evacuate homes so far and crews have had a tough time getting to the flames. >> it's fire on a mid-slope position about a third of a maloff the road and about a half-mile below the local -- the closest fire road. so what we are doing about it, we have some engine crews that are cutting their way into the fire right any with hand tools and saws. >> crews from multiple agencies have been called to help put out the fire. no word on what started it.

in van hose people are trying to figure out the cause of flames that left two people homeless. the fire started in the garage and eventually moved into the attic. flames melted an electrical panel. the two people inside escaped without harm. governor jerry brown has declared a drought energy in c. and are urging residents to begin conserving by as much as 20%. >> we live in an area of limits, nature has its boundaries and we have to be as efficient and eloquent in the way this we live and the which we conduct ourselves. >> it will expedite water transfers, provide transfer aid for those hit hardest and suspend some at this time and federal regulars. nor a list of ways to save water, go on our website under "see it on tv." >> officials in marijuana are

>> san franciscans love their bikes, and so do thieves. >> i had a bunch of bikes stolen. >> kevin said it was wednesday night or nurse day morning when thieves made off with bikes belonging to him and his roommates. it's part of a list of bikes stolen in san francisco. >> i went around the neighborhood looking at chop shops and i went to look for my bike. >> what he found was there. stack of bikes stripped to their frames so he snapped pictures and tweeted the photos to sfpd. >> strip the parts off, put the frames in stacks and but the components in bins and load them up in bins and day them out of town. >> when we went to the same spot of stacks, they were gone. what we found a man seated under the central freeway using tools to remove the wheels from at least two bikes. according to the blitz department more than 4,000 bikes were stolen from the city in 2012. >> there are 96% more bicycles

in san francisco than they were in 2007 and more will come. >> there's a bicycle theft ring that operates in and around the civic center and there are chop shops throughout the city. we have no evidence these bikes were stolen and neither does kevin but he sid the numbers don't lie. >> it seems awful weird piles of bikes, that at least 50 would be sitting under an underpass being cut up and loaded in a van. >> 5:07. court documents reveal the man intentionally setting a string of fires in san jose led police to locations where he said he set the fires. 48-year-old patrick brennan waived yesterday afternoon. this is is three strikes case. he was convicted of arson in 1999 and found guilty of a sex crime. if convicted on the current charges he faces several life sentences. brennan is expected to enter a plea next month.

most of the people affected by a wildfire northeast of los angeles can now go home. all of the residents except those who live in the mountain cove area and another city can go back home. 3400 people were evac witted yesterday morning. it started in the angelina at forest after a fire was started by a fire started by three men. the flu is so bad it's reached epidemic status. number of deaths has exceeded what was expected. it's taken two more live necessary the bay area, bringing the total number of deaths to 23. the latest victims are two south bay women ages 52 and 62. caltran has agreed to take down nets that were killing federally protected birds in sonoma county. they were on 101 over the petaluma river. they were intended to keep the birds out of the construction zone but they are trapping

and clear and calm but look at the numbers from the north bay and delta and east bay. this is the chill. 30 santa rosa, numbers barely above freezing napa, and concord and livermore. the atmosphere cools off very quickly with the dry air in lays. spare the air day with the north day and the central bay along the coast with the poor air quality. you may have noticed the haze in the atmosphere returning. it looks pretty bad out there and it will continue to be hazy throughout the day today. mild to warm over the weekend, although temperatures trending downward but will still be well above normal. it was 74 yesterday in oakland. that's 17 degrees above the average. we should be in the mid-and upper 50s except for san jose about 60 for this time of the year. a dry put earn unfortunately into next week. here's a look at the pacific satellite. not only does the jet stream go well to the north it's north of vancouver. we are talking slightly weaker

conditions as the jet stream and the ridge of high pressure begins to slide a little bit to the east but we are still looking at plenty of temperatures above average. a look at the drought from severe to extreme from last week to this week. so you can see how the red has expanded and we are in dire need of some rain. any on the way? here's the outlook for today and the next couple days. notice we are looking at trace amounts well to the north but we go through the end of the month really with no significant rain across the bay. wish i had better news but in terms of highs today, it will feel like a spring day again. spare the air day. 68 san francisco, 69 son mattio and 72 morgan hill. the seven-day forecast looking at temperatures similar tomorrow. the holiday monday. it may be a little cooler at the coast. tuesday still really a steady pattern. next weather system will bring the temperatures down slightly wednesday, thursday, and partly cloudy by friday.

apart. how much does it cost to have a baby in california? a new study reveals there may be a big difference depending on how and where your baby is born. the costs range from $3,300 to $37,000. in some cases the study found that costs were higher in areas with higher wage earners and for-profit hospitals charge significantly more. but in most cases there was no explanation for why the hospitals charged more. researchers chalked it up to excess charges. childbirth is the most common reason for hospitalization in california. more than half a million women give birth in the hospital every year. a new calf is making waves at six flags not only for being the first dolphin born in six years but the way her mother communicated with her long before the baby was born. we have the story from vallejo.

but mother nature not helping out with just 8% of normal in the northern sierra. that includes lake tahoe, central sierra in the yosemite area just 16% and 22%. but last december we had a lot of rain n the three month outlook for our temperature profile shows all of california above normal. and southeast above normal. the precip still below normal. this is just a gauge. doesn't guarantee anything but we are definitely hoping for things to change. temperatures today well above average, although we may not see any records. 70 oakland, as well as fremont today. livermore should check in around 70. 72 in cloverdale and a chilly day in seattle tomorrow where temperatures will start out where afternoon highs will be about 50s, sliding through the mid-40s by the afternoon. the spare the air today, very little change tomorrow and we are looking at another dry day for the holiday. only change really will be in
