two men in san joaquin county have been arrested in a $400,000 wall nut heist. investigators say the two men stole 2 double semi trailers from the gold river orchard near oakdale in october. they contained 140,000 pounds of walnuts. one of the men is also suspected of stealing two other tankers from modesto. california's nut industry is worth $10 billion a year and organized crime has begun to target the industry. >> a thief with a different target is affecting life in san francisco's triangle neighborhood. someone has been taking expensive potted plants, including small trees, fro the sidewalk gardens on walter street. one resident believes the responsible party is from the neighborhood. >> it's a heavy load. you're not local, you don't want to carry a tree that size and a root ball that size. if you have a car, you'll throw it in the car. i think he is a neighbor. and the fact we have been losing plants for year and a half also

postal service employees have a big problem with the agency opening retail centers in staples stores the centers are a way of cutting costs and boosting revenue. postal union says that's fine but the outlets are staffed by nonunion staples workers, not usps workers. the union fears loss of jobs. postal officials see the program as an opportunity to grow the business and don't see it as a threat to replace post offices. >> amazon is taking customer interest to a new level. it can now read your browser.

areas. so keep that in mind. the rest of the bay area will see a few passing clouds. here's a look at the highs for today. we had a record. gilroy, record high of 79. otherwise, we were still mild with 69 fairfield. 70, napa. santa rosa, 70. 65 in san francisco. and oakland today, 72 degrees. here's a look from our mt. mt. tamalpais camera. right now, san francisco 61. 62, redwood city. from the sutro tower cam you can see temperatures in the north bay already in the 50s. 56 east bay, concord. our forecast highlights taking you into the holiday week, we'll go over passing clouds overnight. maybe a few high clouds tomorrow. it will beatle cooler as we head into wednesday, and then after that, thursday and friday, it looks like strong offshore winds will return. of course that will heighten our

fire danger around here, as if it's not high enough. the bay area will look for overnight temperatures in the mid-to-upper 40s, and tonight we'll start off with clear sky, but notice some high clouds moving north. so at 5:00 tomorrow morning, may see overcast skies near san francisco, heading towards vallejo. tomorrow afternoon, all of that should move out. i want to show you our water vapor imagery map. you can see this is the dry slot we're in right now. these are some of the high clouds that will venture over the bay area. storm track well to the north. we're going to keep a close eye on this area of low pressure here. by wednesday night and thursday, it is going to push down towards the spine of the sierra. the wrap-around winds will definitely bring us offshore winds, those try winds and that will mean increased fire danger for the bay area and will also mean some mild temperatures.

so, in terms of rainfall, the ten-day outlook, not looking so promising. up along the northern -- extreme northern coast of california, we may see a trace amount. other than that, looks like we'll be dry, could be the first part of february before this breaks down. tomorrow, palo alto, 68. the seven-day forecast, a few passing clouds for your holiday monday and tuesday. cooler day on wednesday. and then those offshore winds pick up thursday, friday, windy overour higher hills on saturday. but still no rain in sight, and temperatures still above where we should be this time of year. >> thank you, leigh. >> shu is up with the niners who are playing right now so larry beil you have the other super bowl contender. >> the niners give us a heart attack in seattle harks of the super bowl is set. the afc championship game a
