the former bart chief talks with us about michael maes who previously worked for another police agency in the east bay. >> i hired him. he was a dedicate officer and was assigned to investigations that he and tom worked together several years. >> he knew the fallen sergeant tom smith because he was hired in 1990 saying he joined as a teen as a part time civilian cadet and he could not wait to be hold enough to be a police officer specifically a bart officer. >> smith was shot once on tuesday while he and other officers were searching the apparent of a paroleee in dublin. smith was wearing a bullet proof vest and have not explained how the shooting happened. >> stay with abc7 news if continuing coverage of the bart

coast and they will spill into downtown and south san francisco and sausalito and san rafael, and low-to-mid 60's bodega bay and money 60's in the north bay valley and no more record highs in oak and you will be with else around 65 to 67 and temperatures are spread from 65 to 68 in the east bay valley. now, the temperatures are mid-30's to low 40's and most of the coast and bay shore in the south bay and home 40's. highs are back to the west and look at this storm, that is the one that will not make it but look at the wind, the waves are kicking up with the powerful storm up to 30'. that is what we anticipate tomorrow. for the seven-day forecast, the temperatures tomorrow are the same and the 70's are back but the coast it will be dry. >> now, in tahoe, mother nature

accidental self inflicted gunshot. the rim is 11 years old and the shooting happened in his home in oakley. it was around 7:00 last night. police have not said who was home with him at the time the shooting. neighbors say family is quiet, kept to themselves and a lot of people gathered in the street last night to express the shock and disbelieve. >> he walked his dog named "baby," and he was real nice the. >> a quiet neighborhood. >> police called in a helicopter to take the boy to the hospital but it was too late he died at his home. officers have not said how he got ahold the gun or who owns it. we help to learn more dead about the investigation.

good morning again, i am looking at a wind shift bringing in cooler and cleaner air and not so hazy. this is how it looks from the east bay hills, camera is not bouncing and so much as the one on mount tamalpais but the winds are gusting around 20 or 25 miles per hour and we will have temperatures drop today at four to nine degrees compared to yesterday and oakland is at 75 with a record high, and only 66 today. you can see all the red and the high fire danger and the purple long the coast and high surf advisory and it is breezy in the southern section of the central valley and a fire weather watch

breaking news in san francisco, these are figures from sky 7 h.d. of a two-alarm fire that has been burning at clinton park and 14th street. it looks as though there are small flames going and we don't see a lot of water being sprayed so it could be over. there were early reports that possibly people were trapped on the second floor.
