live from the kgo-tv broadcast center this is abc7 news. >> happening right now, look at this. sky 7 is over the competition taking place off our coastline right now with some of the best surfers in the world. they are riding what could be record-breaking waves today. we will take you back to that story if a moment but there is breaking news in san francisco. three people were injured in an industrial accident and taken to a local hospital. >> thanks for joining us. san francisco firefighters are at the scene of a scaffolding accident in twin peaks area clear clay continue -- clay

continue street. we will check now with our reporter at the scene on the injuries. >> it happened at the peach-colored house at the corner of clayton. police say three men were on the platform nailed to the wall and their combined weight was more than it could handle. part of it gave way sending the workers to the ground. neighbors say they heard a loud "thump" and fell 25'. police say they are all suffering from compound fractures to the legs. police say the platform they fell off of is not legal. they were working on the roof of the house and are said to be working without the proper permit. building inspectors have been called in. this work was not permitted and started off as a minor roof repair and as the work progressed it got more complicated so no permits have been issued if -- for the job

you love it. >> the 24 competitors love it and this year the stars have alined. >> it is, how far do you want to push yourself? >> before the first surfer catches the first monster point the harbor patrol heads out to create boundaries. >> we are keening everyone out of the danger zone and in the safe zone but that is what we are about trying to keep everyone safe. >> we look close at the waves and the surfers making attempts to catch them. spectator boats circling and it could grow to 200 vessels. officials say it is not necessarily the best seat. >> you only get a few seconds here and you get a dangerous situation. my recommendation is to watch it on tv. >> the competitors are well aware of the danger, surfing waves with a 50' face. some are nervous or scared at times but that is below the surface on a day like this. >> i'm not here to lose.

when she spoke up at 5:00 this morning and locked owe -- out the window. the fire spread to their home although they made it out. >> i am looking out and everything is gone. >> when firefighters arrived, they called a second alarm and said wind was blowing embers to an apartment complex. >> we started knocking on doors and we ended up not evacuating because we got it knocked down. >> the fire burned a mobile home to the ground. no one lives here but neighbors say transients break in and stay here. the home's owner says the issue has been frustrating. >> it is sad. others try to break in and...always afraid of something like this. >> a day like this, tracy walked

officials say in the last two weeks a 58-year-old woman is a 43-year-old man died of the h1n1. they both had underlying conditions. eight have died from the flu in the county this season. officials are seeing many more flu cases than expected this year. >> happening now, a hearing is underway at the state capital over a report accusing caltran of ignoring safety experts would brought up safety issues with the new eastern span of the bay bridge and was commissionened by the state senator from concord and found that the caltran engineer and outside consultant say caltran disregarded warnings that a chinese company working on a huge section of the bridge was turning out wells with cracks and the company said do not put the concerns in writing. the caltran disputes those allegations. >> this is what commuters saw this morning along 580 in san

rafael. firefighters say it took 45 minutes to knock down the fire that break out in a mashy area around 4:00 a.m. and contained it to three abeers. drivers could see the flames from the richmond-san rafael bridge. >> firefighters responding to a fire found a familiar site: a large pot grow inside. the roof of the home collapsed as the crews tried to put it out and protect the homes on both sides. illegal wiring used to power the grow is believed the cause. >> the shooting death of a bart liver is prompting new questions of the cameras the officers wear. the shooting was not captured by the cameras because they were not wearing them or did not have them turned on. three officers were detectives who da not usually wear the cameras including sergeant tom smith who was accidentally shot. officer michael maes is identified as shooting him while

mike? >> how about the waves. they will be taller the next couple of hours when the largest waves will come in. we will look at what is going on outside starting with the winds gusting at 27 miles per hour in oakland hills and mount tamalpais and everyone else around 15- to 20-miles per hour and that is why we still have red-flag warning with high fire danger above a thousand feet. it is very dry in the bay area, so dry, in fact, the marshes are catch on fire. here is the visibility: they are low. that is the extra haze that is in the air, the pollution, the moisture, and some of the moisture is showing up on the radar and it is not making it to the ground so that is a surge of clouds that will take over our neighborhoods from south to north as we head throughout the day and keep our temperatures cooler than yesterday. novato is 63 and 62 in concord
