the dog has been impounded twice by animal control. his owner is under arrest. >> day shot psycho? he is. >> neighbors can't believe a notorious dog with a bad reputation was shot and killed by police. ofs encountered the dog, nicknamed psycho, inside a vacantant with his opener. >> our officer retreated and have nothing where else to go, fired and killed the dog, unfortunately. >> the police discovered the dog and owner squatting inside. the man has been arrested for trespassing before. police want to know if the dog was trained to attack. >> whether there was any intention of him intentionally releasing the dog tornado the officer. >> nobody likes to see the dog die like that. >> she is upset the dog was shot

but admits many people feared the large pit bull mix. >> he always has the dog -- >> on a leash? >> yes, always, because it. >> sarah says psycho almost bit her on the leg once. >> sometimes he was overaggressive. yeah. >> were you afraid of the dog? >> um, if he wasn't on the leash, yes. >> officials at san francisco animal care and control say the dog was impounded twice in the last two years. not for being vicious, but because his owner was squatting inside vacant apartments. the police investigation continues. san francisco. cornell bernard, abc7 news. san francisco police are trying to figure out the details sounding a dead body found inside a car. police were called to the intersection of 17th street and tree avenue. inside a black suv with utah plates they found a body in the back seat. investigators will not say how or where that victim died. oakland police are in investigating if there's a

connection between a disabled vehicle call and the death of a pedestrian. last night, just minutes after receiving a call of a disabled motorcycle on eastbound 980 on the transition road to westbound 580, officers got a report of a pedestrian hitting on road that runs under the transition road. the road was closed two hours. >> two homes in antioch will need major repair after an out-of-control car smashed into them. this was the scene on buchanan road. the drive went over the center divider, into con -- on coming traffic and smashed electrical transformer, the car shard through a fence and into the house. neighbor were saturdayed but not one william who is bedroom was damaged. >> i went to see if she was okay, she saidey, and went right back to sleep.

rocks by huge waves. he was in critical conditions when rescuers got him out. the rescuers were overwhelmed themselves and had to struggle to reach the victim. expected high tides have caltrans closing part of a lot near sausolito. the manzanita park and ride lot floods yearly. 75 of the more than 300 spaces in the lot are being shut down until february as well as some spaces along highway 1. today is the 30th "spare the air" of the season. we also saw some record temperatures in the bay area. frances dinglasen is in for leigh glaser and has the details. >> we broke a few records, and in fact in oakland, at the museum, this is the 13th 13th consecutive day of breaking a report. 73 the high, breaking the record of 72 set in 2011.

we tied a record in san rafael and san jose, gilroy, it hit 77, breaking a record of 7 1. here's a look from the exploratorium camera, looks towards the beautiful bay bridge. tonight if you're heating out, still enjoying this mild weather. temperatures will start to drop down into the 50s to near 60s, tomorrow morning, cool start, mid-30s to upper 40s, and then a lot of afternoon sunshine again with temperatures well above average in the mid-60s to low 70s. i'll have the complete forecast with a chance on rain. >> here's an example how hot and dry it's been. this is a nasa photo of mt. shasta taken in november. normally covered in snow right now, but it's not. this nasa photo was taken earlier this month. there's only snow on mt. shasta's northern side. december, january, and february are usually the area's rainiest

months. >> mosquitoes have been a nuisance in parts of northern california this winter. they're usually at their worst from april to october, but this year they're feeding more than ever. experts say the weather is to blame. mosquitoes usually stay dormant during winter but have come out early with an appetite. >> it's warm outside so the think, perhaps it's spring. i should be coming out. they're coming out of the resting stage, hungry and desperate. >> you can call it the silver lining of the drought. mosquitoes need stagnant water to lay egg. but of dry cans day have fewer places to reproduce. >> city officials and law enforcement handed out the club to people today. the area is especially popular with car thieves. >> and i hope that particularly people who live in poor neighborhoods like this, have the old honda accords and the

>> residents who believe their facing eviction in san francisco's western addition neighborhood met today to discuss their future. some 300 residents of mid-town park apartments have been notified by the city that the least agreement that governs the low-end moderate income housing community is being terminated at the end of this month. they received the notice on christmas eve, soon after a proposal from the city to raise rents to pay for years of neglect. >> it's our home as far as we know and it we don't want to

lose it. and we don't want to be displaced, and we don't want to be victims of gentry fix indication, and we see that everywhere in the city and it's very threatening. >> the city maintains the rent increase are necessary to force residents to find a basic maintenance upgrades. >> arts and crafts retailer michael's is investigating a possible data breach. the chain store joined federal authorities to determine if customers' debit or credit card information was stolen. michael learned of possible fraudulent activity on some customers cards. it's not been confirmed if the information was compromised. the ceo asked customers to review their accounts as a precaution. there are three michael stores in the bay area. up next, the new service apple may soon bring you that could earn the company billions in profits. could rain be in the forecast? frances ding has since up next

the price of stamps goes up again tomorrow. the postal service is raising the price by three cents from 46 to 49 cents. the hike is the largest increase in more than a decade. the hike comes after the agency's regulator gave the grownlight -- greenlight to keep up with inflation. the postal service lost $5 billion in the latest fiscal year. >> a new report suggests apple is expanding into the mobile payment half. "the wall street journal" reports apple is working on a service that would allow you to use your phone and apple account to pay for physical goods. you can already buy digital movies and games on itunes. the new service would allow you to use your phone at stores like best buy, possibly using the fingerprint scanner for identification. apple filed for a patent that

temperatures are starting to come down. it's 64 in san francisco, 63 in oakland. san jose, 61. already 57 in half moon bay. another shot from mount tam towards san francisco. yousee it's pretty clear. good visibility. santa rosa, 60. napa, 51. going to cool down in the north bay. fairfield, 58. livermore, 60. so, here's what you can expect as we look out again towards downtown. actually from downtown san francisco, you can see 101, and looks like twin peaks a little obscured by clouds. sun and and mild tomorrow again, might break some records, and a chance of rain, finally a change in the weather pattern late next week. the pacific satellite image shows a strong ridge that has been with us all month, bringing us the dry, mild, warm weather. we broke temperature records

statewide today, and look at the forecast model. seeing some passing high clouds from the south. we'll wake up to some partly cloudy conditions tomorrow morning. but then by the afternoon, mostly sunny conditions for everybody, and again look for those numbers again. overnight lows, cooler in the energy bow, 30s. 42 in oakland. milder in san francisco, 47. look for 37 in morgan hill. tomorrow, with the hazy sunshine. we'll climb up into the low 70s in a few locations. 72 in anter, 74, fairfield. 70, san jose. so, here's the forecast model we're watching. notice by possibly next thursday, january 30th, the end of the month, we could get maybe a chance of a sprinkle, and then for the beginning of february, the chance of rain increases but it doesn't look like we're going to make much of

a dent. north bay, maybe half inch at best. we need a good 18 inches to kind of catch up to where we would normally be year to date. in santa rosa, 17.93 inches, and then we need another six inches in parts of the south bay. and also snow pack, fairly measly as well. we're only at seven percent of normal in northern california, 14% of normal central. so we could really would the way. here's the seven-day forecast. enjoy the mild, sunny weather, temperatures above average by ten degrees. things will change thursday with a chance of a sprinkle or drizzle. still chance right now. keep an eye on the models. chance of showers on friday and saturday, and next weekend we should be ten degrees cooler than today. >> thank you, frances. >> shu is harassments
