pennsylvania. cornell bernard is live in san car las where many are shocked about this arrest. reporter: lots of people surprised about this arrest. mr. miftakhov lived in this home in san carlos. he told police he had no target for the bombs he made. regardless, police say he is in a lot of trouble tonight. >> police say 19-year-old vladislav miftakhov was arrested for growing marijuana and building weapons of mass destruction inside his college apartment in altoona, pennsylvania. a bomb found his suitcase was disarmed. andrew lef lives in the same party build. >> the weirdest human being i've even. always doing abstract things that never really -- never anything dangerous. >> miftakhov, russian national, prepared bombmaking equipment on the internet. when investigators asked him hat he was going to do with it, he

said he was going to blow things up. he was born in moscow but lived the last several years with his family. the arrest is a shock to neighbors. they say the family is friendly and quiet. >> scary to think that person was living right across the street from you. makes you wonder what elves is go on. >> miftakhov graduated from high school last year. >> never got into trouble, was never caught doing anything bad, and seemed kind of weird. >> when we would talk, he said nothing about what -- like weapons in general or bombs or anything. we were just talking about random stuff, like school. >> miftakhov told police he experimented with explosives in california, but was not specific. in san carlos, abc7 news. developing news in antioch.

a person was shot inside a van outside the jack-in-the-box. witnesses reported hearing several shots being fired around 4:15 this afternoon. officers have been on the scene looking for evidence and witnesses since getting the first 9-1-1 calls. the victim flown to a trauma center. >> b.a.r.t. trays are delayed after a person was hit at the san francisco embarcadero station. happened a half hour ago. trains are running on a single track during the emergency response, b.a.r.t. has not said when service returns to normal. >> a pastor from vacaville faces more legal trouble after being accused of improperly using his church's property to boast bail. mark lewis faced arson charges after police sale he conspired with three other people to firebomb his ex-girlfriend's home on january 9th. lewis left jail after posting a half million dollar bail. prosecutors rearrested lewis friday. they believe he committed fraud by using the church properties

as collateral for his bail. san jose police are searching for a suspect in a deadly stabbing this morning at a home on suncrest avenue in piedmont hills. the victim's girlfriend was throwing a 21st birthday party. a fight broke out and spilled on to the lawn where he was stabbed. >> get into some person. come outside of the house right here and then boyfriend tried to break up the fight, somehow gets stabbed. police interviewed people at the private party hoping someone knew the suspect's name. campus police want san jose state students to be aware of their surroundings after man on a bicycle groped two women. both assaults took place last night on campus. one outside the event and recreation center, a second at 9:00 to on eighth street near the hoover hall dormitory. witnesses say the attacker appears to be a white man in his

in fact san rafael, a new record high today of 68. 73, oakland. new record san jose, 71. gilroy, 77. also want to mention that livermore tied a record today, 72 there. sfo tied a record today, 66. and even south lake tahoe today, new record high of 54. changes are coming. we'll look at those coming up. now to another extreme. snow and bitter cold are making it dangerous to get around chicago and other parted of the midwest. snow plows barely made an impact in lake county illinois. forecasters expect sub zero temperatures tonight. the deep freeze comes after several inches of snow already fell. airlines have canceled dozen of flights. those cancellations include one united flight at sfo. >> a popular bay area restaurant is closing its doors tonight

after 57 years serving the community. sergio quintana is live with a look at the long line of people witnessing to get into joe's of west lake. reporter: this is the line right ought here, people who are waiting to get inch let me show you the lobby, all people waiting to get a table. this isn't necessarily the dinner rush. this has been like this all afternoon. the end of joe's as customers have grope to know it for more than 50 years. for employees, who have been at this daly city landmark for years, a few of them for decades, today has been emotional. this is the kind of restaurant that doesn't exist anymore. lots of the wait staff here started as buzzers and worked up to waitered and have kept at it ever since. the foot and atmosphere has become a regular part of many customer traditions. the general manager says this is the kind of place where some repeat customers had their own seats.

a federal judge overturned a ruling in favor of the man who programmed the original john madden football game. he helped create the original game in the late '80s and says his code was used in games from 18990 to 1996 but he wasn't compensated for his work. a jury agreed and awarded him $11 million. this week, a judge reviewing the case threw out the award. he said the jury only listened

to witness testimony and didn't compare the original game to later versions side-by-side. he ruled in favor of bay area company, electronic arts, and ea has earned billions of dollars in profit from madden football sales. >> a rare video game cartridge has sold for over $100,000. there were just 90 made. now the world's most expensive video game. the cart trimming was created for the nintendo world championship in 1990, has supermario brothers, rod racer, and there are also 26 gold-colored versions, one is on ebay with nine days left and the top bid is $20,000. >> time to get a check on the weather with leigh glaser. >> another terrific weekend but we are going to start to see signs of change. yay. finally. a little built of rain. looking back towards the bay area.

something we need. may have noticed some high clouds. earlier this morning almost looked like some clouds could produce showers but most of the high clouds, thanks to the area of low pressure and you can see that counterclockwise motion so these high clouds will drift over the bay area overnight these evening. here's a look at highs for you. 70s. cloverdale, 73. santa rosa, 73. 68, san rafael. the new record for those guys. san francisco, 70. 72, antioch, gilroy, 73. live from our exploratorium cam toward the bay bridge, a nice evening. oakland, 64. san francisco, 54. 61, san jose. and here's another nice shot from our. ryville cam. you can see that even the north bay starting to get a little bit on the cool side. petaluma, 57. 54, napa.

concord, 59. here's a look at the forecast highlights. high clouds off and on tonight so those in the north bay, you will have temperatures overnight mid-to-low 30s, main not as cold. the clouds will help instance late you a little more. cooling the next few days and then we bring in a chance of some rain for the bay area as we head into thursday. so here's a look at the lows tonight. 47, ranging from 47 in san francisco, to napa, 38. 48, livermore. san jose, 40. here is what we're looking at. this area of low pressure, yet responsible for the high cloudiness today. this low will push on towards the east. this next system is going to sheer apart as it gets close to the bay area. might be able to wring out a little mist and drizzle near the coast. monday night and tuesday. that's it. the next substantial chance of

rain will come as we head into the thursday time period, from the area of low pressure developing up near the aleutians. so we'll have to wait a couple days for that. 3:00 wednesday afternoon, should start to see a little moisture. not going to be a lot. not a huge storm. by 4:00 thursday afternoon, look for those showers to move across the bay area. then by friday. >> it's out of here. we'll get into a dry slot friday evening, but i do want to let you know that things are getting a little bit more optimistic in terms of rain. by february 5th, you can see our chances really start to increase. still most of the precipitation up around the north coast but we'll start to see our weather wetter pattern develop. highs tomorrow, because of high clouds and looks like wednesday the clouds thicken up, leading to rain for the bay area. not a whole lot. on thursday. lingering showers friday, and
