live from the kgo-tv broadcast center this is abc7 news. good morning, v.i.p.'s arrive at the fairmont hotel in san francisco for the fundraising luncheon with first lady michelle obama the second day of the packed bay area tour. amy hollyfield is at the fairmont hotel. >> this is a women's luncheon, democratic leader nancy pelosi will be here. lots of v.i.p.'s and a reception and then a luncheon. the first lady is in town raising money for the democratic party.

a lot it. the most expensive ticket today goes for $32,,000. first lady michelle obama draws the crowd, 600 people paid a minimum of $500 to attend a luncheon with her at the fairmont hotel in san francisco today. many in the crowd are calling it the chance of a lifetime. >> i'm excited. this is huge. huge. huge. such an honor to be able to see her and she is physically beautiful as in the pictures but she is so intelligent. >> the first lady had a busy day in the city year. we captured this video of her where she ate dinner at slanted door after attending two fundraisers in the afternoon where she asked reporters to dig gear

morning. fire crews say there was a last fire on the second floor and in the garage when they arrived. one person was taken to the hospital with minor buns and four people live there. a van was destroyed. a neighbor said the fire woke him up. >> they woke us up and told us to grab personal belongings and get out. get out. >> the neighbor spoke to the home own yesterday who said she was selling the house. arson investigators are on the scene as standard procedure. >> caltrain commuters are still frustrated and delayed after a fatality on the track this morning. at 6:15 a.m. a northbound train hit a female pedestrian. caltrain had in service between menlo park and san carlos for hours. right new trains using only one track through the area. the northbound platform is not expected to re-open until noon. many commuters are tweeting

about being delayed up to two hours. also in san jose, the driver of a black nissan is facing d.u.i. charges after he rear ended or police say he rear ended and killed the driver of a red volkswagen that happened on northbound 85 around 11:30 last night. the volkswagen flipped and killed the man inside. man in the nissan suffered minor injured and taken into custody. >> two traffic officers had no choice but to fire their weapons at a car that was speeding toward them with no head heights. it happened at 12:30 in in the morning while they were on the side of the road dealing with another traffic situation. a passenger was hit in the leg. the drive was arrested on suspicion of felony and driving under the influence and assault with a deadly weapon. a palo alto police officer jumped into san francisco creek to rescue this man who was

trying to get away from officers. police say the 53-year-old lee james daniels was wanted on parole violation and he was spotted. he dodged into the creek to avoid arrest and started having problems. he was saved and arrested all at the same time. san francisco police have found a woman would walked away from san francisco general hospital a short time ago in the mission district. she was considered at risk because she needed medication for a procedure she underwent. santa clara county health officials have just confirmed two more people have died from the flu. that brings the total number of flu deaths in the bay area to 35 doctors say the best way to protect yourself, even now, is with the flu shot. there are 95 flu delegates -- deaths in california and additional 51 cases will likely be confirmed today when the new numbers are released.

we are learning how a security breach at yahoo could affect more than just yahoo e-mail users. katie marzullo talked with an expert and has the latest information and tips on protecting yourself. >> 270 million people in the world use yahoo e-mail and a day after a massive security breach the company has not revealed how many of the customers had e-mail accounts hacked. >> i'm concerned. i'm worried. people have all of my data going back years. >> if you think you don't use yahoo so no worries hackers have access to their victims but their address books and all they correspondent with. >> if you correspond with me, they could send me spam. the bottom line privacy and

security are violated. >> the hacker could gain access to your bank information or medical records. technology expert says that there is no way to stay completely safe online these days and passwords are the problem. pans need to move to finger prints. the fact that apple is using finger prints that is an indication that they believe there are things better that passwords. >> do not use the same passwords on different services, use one that is not easy to guess long and contain a mix of numbers leters upper and lower case and mixed symbols. >> change your password every three months is recommended. a big send off today for a young bay area woman who is on the way to the olympics, a sophmore in high school and is the youngest member of the u.s.

along the square in chinatown including dragons and drummers. the celebration is now taking place at the hilton financial district hotel. amanda knox is pleading for help to fight a 28 1/2 year prison sentence for murder conviction. she spoke exclusively today to abc7 news "good morning america" today. >> in a packed courtroom the judge read the sentences: 28 years if amanda knox, 25 years for ex-boyfriend raffaele sollecito for murder. neither was there. knox was halfway around the world at home in seattle. in an emotional interview "good morning america" knox said she could not believe it. >> i am going through waves of emotion. my first reaction was no no, this is wrong. i will do everything i can to

prove that it is wrong. >> in italy, raffaele sollecito was stopped by police in slovenia and denied he was frying to escape. this was their third trial for the 2007 murder of knox's former roommate found guilty in 2009 but two years they were acquitted. then italy's supreme court demanded a new trial resulting in thursday's guilty verify. the victim's brother said they hope this is coming to an end. >> we are nearly to the truth. >> knox said she will only go back to italy if she is dragged kicking and screaming. >> i will never go willingly back to the place where...i will fight this until the very end. >> the united states and italy have signed an extradition treaty so italy could demand she

this is a change from wednesday to this morning, the sensors show everyone is going up but still, we are so far behind where we need to be, only 15 percent to today's date. althoughing forward at lake tahoe the seven-day forecast, cooler-than-average temperatures but no more snow tuesday, wednesday, thursday we will get back to average but, again, it will be dry. at home, if you are headed out grab the sunglasses. temperatures in the mid-to-upper 50's and in san jose we have a now clouds we are going to use to scale mostly sunny today, with mild temperatures and close to average. light rain along the coast on sunday and dry and warmer for all of us next week. the temperatures today are mid-50's along the coast and rest of us in the upper 50's to slow 60's so we call that seasonal. tonight is cooler and if you have anything inland in the morning, there could be frost on the ground temperatures in the low-to-mid 30's and down into the south bay upper 30's to low 40's and mid-40's along the

coast into san francisco. while we were sleeping the low moved through and quiet for the commute with a few high clouds this afternoon and that will be the case tomorrowed ahead of the sunday storm. fast forward on sunday at 5:00, you can see or saturday at 5:00, can you see increasing clouds by 8:00 in the morning, with drizzle and maybe light rain along the north bay and see how it spreads inland. this model is the most aggressive but even with the rain during super bowl sunday we are only going to see a couple hundredths of an inch making the street slick. my seven-day forecast shows tomorrow the temperatures are the same as today and cooler on sunday because of the lack of sunshine, monday we rebound back to average and tuesday wednesday and thursday temperatures are in the low-to-mid 60's and while it will be warmer i don't see any record highs in our forecast. enjoy the weekend if you have plans to be outside saturday is
