now, you see the beautiful sunset. this is a shot of the clouds over san francisco from our emeryville camera. and look at the view atop mt. tam pal pies. a dreary, foggy evening there. we have team coverage which will begin with spencer christian. >> not as much rain as we need but the wettest weather since november. it's breaking up, but here's where the action is right now. most of the most concentrated rainfall down in the santa cruz mountains, around pesca dare row, and a little cell offshore, hasn't shown much movement lately. market of fact the last few minutes seems to be weakening, and the moisre is pouring into the southland. this morning, lake county, this is the scene send to us by richard, showing snow on his deck.

this is above 1500 feet. and rainfall totals so far, the highest totals since november. we have seen over .06 of rain at santa rosa. .085 at sfo, .085 at half moon bay. rainfall deficit still severe. santa rose a needs almost 19 inches of rain get back to normal. san francisco needs 11. i'll show you when we might see the next rainfall later. >> the storm brought some light snow showers to tahoe today with a dusting to a few inches possible. this is our live camera from heavenly mountain resort, courtesy of lake tahoe tv. light snow showers are expected tomorrow and row sorts are excited about more significant snow possible next weekend. while today's rain bringing a little relief to the droughts

philip seymour hoffman's performance through a whole host of roles allowed the actor to dominate nearly every scene. most audiences first took notice of the stocky actor playing the tender and confused man trial to cope with in he had performances in films like big lebowsky. despite that, hoffman had no problem scoring big roles. he played trumanan capote, mimicking capote's body language and signature lisp. it was his interpretation of the character'sing soal and emotional self-that earned him an academy award. other acclaimed performses -- performance followed.

tree. the search is on for a gunman after two people, including 15-year-old boy, were shot to death in oakland. the second victim is a 35-year-old man. our media partner, mercury news, reports both victims lived in the area and knew each other. the shooting happened last night. officers say it was a chaotic scene. >> early on a lot of people out here, emotions were very high, and officers actually had to secure the crime scene and secure the area first before they could render any aid. >> investigators say the two victims were hanging out together in the area when they were confronted on the street by someone and shot. police in pinole are investigating the shooting death of a man at a barn at the green lantern bar. he was found in the parking lot. new fallout in the case of a

block. this shot of san francisco camera this morning shows how the day started for most of us, gray and drizzly, nick smith is live now in redwood city, and, nick, we need the rain but the weather did cause few problems. reporter: it did indeed. you know, one of the things people had to deal with at that apartment complex was the power went out. so, they were scrambling around trying to find a way to deal with that. when they came outside they noticed there had been severe damage to a power pole.

this was the sound most people across the bay area woke up hearing. and the scene that faced drivers as the hit the road. rain, rain, and more rain. something have what seen in a while, and it was enough to cause traffic congestion on 280. and for the california highway patrol to issue warnings for drivers to slow down. >> this morning i heard a wild crashing sound. with the rain came heavy gusts of wind and some related weather damage. john stepped out of his apartment to find this busted pg&e power pole. >> all up here. this thing was down. smoke coming from the top of the pole. the fire department was out here. reporter: by noon a quarter inch of rain had fallen and there's a possibility of more. but experts fear it won't be enough to end the drought squeezing our area. the california wet season runs from december through march, and typically brings more than 13-inches of rain. so far this year only .28 inches have fallen. as we made our way across the

east bay we stopped at mt. mt. diablo where rain below is snow up high. i found heavy flakes making their way to the ground and several people using the opportunity to have a little fun. >> we don't get to see snow, so it's cool to experience something like this. >> my mom lives in chicago. >> so, to prove to mom and everyone at home how thick the snow really was, i snapped this selfie in downtown redwood city, the accessory of the day, umbrellas. a steady drizzle means everyone stays covered and moves quickly. >> investigators say nurses at san francisco general hospital and a sheriff's deputy share the blame in the death of a woman found in the hospital stairwell last fall. federal investigators say nurse failed to act on a doctor's order that lip spalding bewitched around the clock.

she vanished from her word. they also concluded a sheriff's deputy was told to search the stairwell for spalding but he understood it as something he could do if he had free time. her body was found 17 days later. >> the chp reports a missing woman the focus of a silver alert, has been found safe. we first told you about the search for 88-year-old anna this morning. just before 11:00 this morning, investigators said she was found and is okay. be prepared to pay for parking at the larkspur ferry terminal. starting tomorrow it will cost $2. a license plate based mobile application will be used to collect a fee. customers can pay online or downloading an app. violators could face a 45 tuesday fine. the fees are in effect on weekdays, expected to generate $400,000 a year. a famous furry weather

livermore and it's still wet and dreary looking up there and these are our forecast. showers ending this evening, cold night, especially inland, and a cool pattern to follow for the week ahead with temperatures not even breaking 60 degrees. the satellite image, the movement of the cold front that passed through this morning. most of the activity is centered near the coastline. this storm center is heading south and will take most of its moisture with it. so any showers developing after 7:00 p.m. will remain offshore. so tomorrow, mostly sunny skies, cool day, and looks like a dry one as well. looking ahead, the ten-day jut look shows our next chance of precipitation around mid-week but not much rainfall with that little system. then next sunday, looks like we might get some more widespread rainfall but could be confined to the north bay. then after that, fizzles out and not much of a chance of rain in

the next couple days. so the ten days ahead we don't expect much more precipitation but could get a little more next sunday. overnight, chilly inland valleys, lows from upper 20s to low 30s, and mid-30s in other locations. then tomorrow, we'll have a few clouds lingering but mainly sunny day. cool, high temperatures in the mid-50s. not quite so chilly as today but still a cool day and here's the accuweather seven-day forecast. the entire week ahead will feel more like winter. not much rain but cooler, with high temperatures closer to seasonal norms, mid-to-upper 50s through most of the week. and there's the chance of rain feign next sunday. we need a series of significant storms to get rid of this severe drought. >> shu is here with sports. not a whole lot going on. >> i'll come up with something. how about the big game?
