after being struck by a hit-and-run driver this morning. a city official says "enough is enough." >> the boy just got hit. okay? i can't say anymore. >> witnesses were upset after seeing a boy get struck in san francisco's tenderloin. the child is about seven was crossing when the driver of a mercedes s.u.v. hit the child would was taken to the hospital. his injuries are taught life threatening and the driver cooperated with police. >> the witness said the boy's face what bleeding. he works across the street and saw the child and a group of kids walking to school. >> a lot of kids. maybe five or six kids. >> hours earliary man if his 50's was struck by a car in the crosswalk at van ness and grove. the differ did -- driver did not

stop and the victim is hospitalized with life threatening injuries. >> san francisco is the most dangerous for pedestrians more dangerous than new york city and certainly the most dangerous in the state of california. >> 21 pedestrians lost their lives in san francisco just last year. she hopes new traffic projects can reduce fatality by targeting traffic hotspots. >> we have to invest the money. people are dying and getting injured on our street which has a tremendous cost on city whether we like it or not. >> bet we enforcement is part of the plan. today, we saw drivers being ticketed for not yielding to pedestrians right in front of city hall. >> we counted eight people getting failure to yield tickets in the course of 45 minutes. we heard from san francisco police that the hit-and-run victim remains in critical

condition. thank you, cornell. the driver on hit and kill a pedestrian in san francisco's sunset district yesterday is facing charges. a 71-year-old was arrested for vehicular manslaughter and failing to yield to a pedestrian and released hitting a 78 -year-old man. we were over it shortly after it happened. he was hit with such force he went through the windshield. she and two passengers suffered minor injuries. a hayward police officer is on paid leave after shooting and killing an armed woman as an apartment complex. the officers were called to the apartment homes last night to conduct a welfare check. she was waving a hand gun and making threatening gestures and shot after she refused to put down the gun. the officer has been on the force for just a year. >> the heaviest rain of the new year will hoof into the bay area and meteorologist mike nicco is on the roof to tell us how long
