sprinkle in san rafael. as tow truck companies are getting ready for the rain that's to come, other people just went about their business tonight as if it wasn't raining at all. steady, light rain for the north bay on this wednesday night. apparently for most people it wasn't raining hard enough to warrant an umbrella. i had to ask what gives? >> lots of hope that it will rain and heavy. this is just a little sprinkle. my fingers are crossed and our crops are waiting for rain, praying for rain. >> she was praying she would make it to her hot yoga class. she was dressed for it, but then heard something that would change her plans. >> i say oh no, flat tire. i call for help. lucky i am not somewhere dark. >> they are ready to respond to lots of calls for help. >> two and a half to three times the volume of calls when it is raining. >> he is the president of red hill towing. he has drivers on call in case

things get bad on the roadways and his trucks are staged in different areas so they can respond quickly. tow truck drivers face the same challenges as everyone else. >> quite frequently we call chp and they escort us to the scene of the accident so we can clear the freeway so the traffic can start moving again. >> so far the rain hasn't caused a huge problem, but this is just the beginning. the heavier rain is expected for the weekend. >> if it rains real hard in the weekend, monday morning it is just -- it can be a nightmare. >> they have already adjusted the staffing levels, so they will be prepared for that monday morning commute. ama dates, abc7 news. >> with the rain here comes the snow. here is a live look from heavenly mountain resort. the snow is expected to fall as low as 3,000 feet with just a few inches of accumulation. as much as two feet could fall at the summits.

-- hisperian boulevard and landed almost at the light post. police describe this woman as a woman who appears to be in her 30s. neighbors say they found her unconscious and she was by herself. police say there were no witnesses to the actual crime and there is no surveillance video that captured the incident. at this time they don't even have a description of a vehicle that struck her. police say the weather was not a factor in this incident because at the time it was not raining. it was not dark yet. we hope to learn more about this hit-and-run crime when police put out a statement tomorrow morning. reporting live in hayward, alan wang, abc7 news. >> thank you very much, alan. we appreciate it. a pastor has been charged with molesting a 17-year-old run away. the pastor has been charged with having an unlawful sexual relationship and child concealment. police say the 33-year-old pastor who goes by the name of john has been hiding two

teenage girls at the contra costa korean presbyterian church and his home in san ramon. he has len been charged with -- been charge with animal cruelty which lead to the death of a small dog. ?ai an under sheriff died while snorkeling in maui. 61-year-old michael lockran was snorkeling in front of the con gnaw paully beach hotel. he was brought back to shore and collapsed after. he was with the sheriff's department for 30 years before retiring in 2009. after months of controversy vallejo high school has a new mascot. they announced that the school will be now known as the vallejo high red hawks. in november the board voted man mussily to drop the uh patchy mascot at the end of the school year because it is offensive to native americans. the school will keep the red and white colors. a heartbreaking story out of marin county. just when things appeared to

be looking up for a little boy fighting a rare form of cancer his father unexpectedly dies. john alston has their story. >> ♪ i got the eye of the tiger ♪ >> the initial crisis was traumatic enough. last month 4-year-old jeke -- zeke was diagnosed with a rare cancer that attacked the muscle. he started chemotherapy which rocked their whole family. his father was an engineer retrieving data from hard drives at this novato company. >> he came back to work for a couple days when zeke was going to come back. he had a smile on his face and you can see the pride and see that things would be okay. >> reporter: then on sunday morning, days after zeke returned from chemo, ron died

live doppler 7hd. >> much needed rain on live doppler 7hd, one thing you may want to know is to set your alarms earlier. it is going to be messy for the morning commute. live doppler 7hd is tracking widespread light rain right now. as you look here it is pretty much widespread around the north bay, down the peninsula we go. burlingame, millbrae avenue, san mateo, you are seeing light rainfall right now and into the east bay. it is drizzly and damp in some spots, but really rain falling right now. walnut creek down toward danville and stone valley road and even the south bay has picked up at least a trace in san jose. story road and willow glen, very light returns right now. look what is showing up in the mountains. blue canyon picking up light snow right now across 80. and it will start to pick up in intensity overnight tonight much like our rain. tomorrow morning here is what you will have to deal with, slow going roadways. golden gate bridge showing how slick it is right now.

48 in san francisco and oakland is at 49 along with san jose and 46 in half moon bay. here are the rain drops on the lens from the exploratorium camera. the rain may be coming in more forceful in the morning hours so give yourself plenty of time. 48 in livermore. here is our view from our kgo roof camera. this is what i call my puddle pick. heavier rain is expected this weekend. snow is coming in for the sierra nevada. we will see more with the second storm as well. here is the first system. it is not super organized. that will create the rainy morning commute, and we are looking at the weekend storm that is tapping into moisture down toward hawaii. it is looking like it will be a soaker. beginning tonight, widespread rain. look what shows up at 5:00 a.m. for the start of the morning commute.

a lot of yellows and moderate pockets of rain. and we will see spots where there will be brief downpours. be aware of that. scattered showers for the lunchtime hours. for 5:00 p.m., the evening rush does not look bad at all. still could be some isolated showers into thursday night at 10:00 p.m. our rainfall projections with the first system, generally a half an inch to an inch. a little more in the north bay and a little less in the south bay. you will see three-quarters of an inch. the next system will bring in more. sierra nevada, winter weather advisory starts tomorrow morning . expecting 4 to 8 inches of snow. the crest one to two feet. carry your chains and be aware of the fact that this becomes a winter storm watch beginning on friday. that means higher snow levels, but we will see gusty winds and eventually the snow levels dropping. several more feet of snow expected at the higher elevations. for the rainfall projections for the weekend storms, mountains expected to pick up four to six inches in the
