>> good saturday morning, everyone. i'm katie marzullo. it is 6:00 a.m. we will start off with a quick first look at the weather because we actually have weather. it's raining out there. lisa argen is on the roof not only telling us about the rain but experiencing it firsthand. >> hi, katie. a small stream flood advisory has been issued. 7 do 45 for southern marin. mill valley, san roof officials and we are looking at the rain to continue through about 10:00. we are looking at perhaps some overflowing creeks but not property damage. more of rain inconvenience. we will look at the rain to continue. look at 101 in cloverdale, santa rosa. you see the moderate rain. it has not let up for the past day and a half. that's why mt. tam is up words of 9 inches where this rain shadow effect over into the east bay valleys, you are not seeing

much at all. anywhere in da, you are dry. san francisco, yesterday. 280 on and off rain as well as 82. and down around san jose east of milpitas you are looking at dry conditions there. the heaviest rain on the coast, the coastal hills where we are getting this lift, down through davenport. so that's where we are seeing the heaviest amounts of rain. the rain will continue throughout the morning hours focusing on the north by but i'm going to time it all out for you. we will still see rain in the east bay valleys, also the south bay. looks like most of your rain is going to come through tomorrow morning. i'll explain when i see it in a little bit. katie. >> thank you. the storm did move in last night and the rain caused plenty of problems for drivers, but that's not all. we have more from the north bay. >> reporter: moments after a crash, one driver got out his car and looked to be on his phone.

possibly calling for help. chp said standing water on the freeing was part of the water here. fire crews also respond but no serious injuries reported. at rush-hour traffic came to a soggy crowd. throughout the night rain came down in buckets and the wind rattled some residents. >> it's raining sideways, raining everything, raining up and down. it is finally here but it is here. >> her car won't start in the rain so she's stranded at a shopping center. just across the street at fire station 2. pete filled 8 sandbags to fix a flooding problem. >> the place i work for, they just moved in there last year so we haven't had a rain like this. it's flooding back into the basement, we followed him back to the nonprofit with an assembly line of students worked to scoop water out of the basement. they managed to get most of the water out and placed sandbags to keep any more from getting in. >> we will probably have to tarp the stairs that go down from the outside to the basement. >> the first big rain of the

season means the first big water problems for people to deal with. abc7 news. the wet weather is blamed for bringing down a large tree in sonoma county last night. it fell over the highway around 10:30. it took down powerlines as well. pg&e had to come out. the road was closed for several hours while crews worked to clear the roadway. and the storms sent this tree branch crashing down yesterday afternoon. the large branch fell on a parked pickup truck and blocked the sidewalk. it happened atsteiner street but nobody was hurt. also in the east bay, in concord, highway 242 a propane truck slid off the road and hit a truck and fell on to the truck but fortunately there was no propane inside. a firefighter broke his rib trying to cut the tree off of the truck. other than that, those roads were relatively safe. >> not too bad.

news.com/app. developing news, all lanes of southbound highway 101 in san jose have reopen following a fatal crash after 11:00 last night. several cars were involved and one person was found on the roadway. that person died at the scene. it is unclear if they were ejected from the vehicle or if they were a pedestrian. all lanes were closed while they investigated and they reopened around 1:00 a.m.. >> a cal football player died after a early morning workout with the team yesterday. 21-year-old ted agu collapsed after a routine conditioning run outside the stadium. agu started having trouble breathing near the north entrance. trainers picked him up in a cart and he was communicating at first but quickly deteriorated and was unresponsive when the ambulance arrived. >> our players love him dearly and he was a big part of our family. now our family members are going to have to rely on each other in order to get through this period

nuisance flooding. it really should abit by later on today when we do get a break. cordamero creek is getting awfully high. but mt. tam, 9 inches. it sounds amazing. other parts of the bay area just picking up a tenth around the livermore valley. we do have gusty winds out of the southwest up to 25 miles an hour. here's a look at doppler hd. 610 and 580, the rain shadow effect where most of the lift comes from the mountains, the coastal millions and that's where the written is enhanced. a warm frontal band is moving over the bay area right now. we are looking at breezy and moderate rain in the north bay. hills berg, and south 101. santa rosa, the wet weather, petaluma, the small stream flood

advisory. and american can i don't know right rain. san francisco light to moderate rain with gusty winds. redwood city on and off showers. fremont looking for a break, as well as livermore. in the sierra nevada it's 38 degrees at the tahoe valley airport where it's raining at lake level but a winter storm warning remains in the effect for the west slopes until 4:00 this afternoon with the snow level rising to about 8,000 feet. in the low to mid-50s around the bay. delays over three hours here. 52 pet huma with mid-50ths in the livermore valley. from our emeryville camera you see it looking wet and -- and windy out there. rainy, breezy. a little bit of the rain lightens up in the north bay by the average and evening hours. and our friends in the east bay and south bay will see more rain. between now and then we are looking at the focus in the north bay where waves of rain

will continue to get you wet with anywhere from another couple inches. look it here. 7 to 9 inches and san jose over a tenth. fremont has picked up three quarter inch but redwood city, birthly a quarter inch. here's the timing to the. through 9:00, 10:00, we see the heaviest rain, north by, oakland, lather amounts, peninsula, south by. here's the breakthrough the overnight hours. by about 8:00, 9:00, so:00 tomorrow, more wet weather. this time the east bay and south bay should see more rain and the rainfall rates should pick up as well. by monday we are looking at the system lifting well to the north. we will be dry. we still are looking at excess rain amounts through monday. an additional inch to three inches from the east bay and the north bay with about an inch in the south bay. there's your winter storm work. near 60 fremont, 58 santa cruz.

nine inches at mt. tam. the flood advisory through the early morning hours. river flooding not concerned with but there is gusty winds out there. here's santa rosa down through point reyes. the yellow is heaviest rain. slighter rain through mill valley, the gold get bridge, san francisco, over into berkeley and emeryville. takes a look what happens in hayward. san mateo and redwood city. very little rain if any at all and down through san jose. you are dry, cloudy skies. you are looking at on and off rain showers throughout the day. this is our golf tournament today down by pebble beach. watch out, very heavy rain by the coastal hills. we are looking at the coastal hills, the north bay getting most of the rain do you to that oragraphic lift. you will see more throughout the

the slab slipped. >> they have a process, i don't know exactly what the process it for moving big slabs like that and seems like the slabs were shifting while they moved it out and two people were crushed underneath it. >> the slabs were so heavy, rescue crews had to break them into smaller pieces to remove them. a representative from galaxy granite said she's deeply sudden -- saddened by the accident, but will not comment further on what happened. they said they do not have any previous worker safety violation. >> city college of san francisco will now have to file a formal appeal after commission's decision to revoke its accreditation. the move comes after a regional commission yesterday rejected the school's request to have the decision reviewed. ccsf has been under threat of losing their accreditation after the commission found issues with the schools finance and govern structure. but a judge ruled last month the accrediting commission cannot terminate them while current lawsuits are still in the courts. happening today, california great america is looking for seasonal workers.

pretty swollen. rain rates have been from about half-inch an mauer there whereas the east bay and south bay we haven't seen much rain at all. here's a look at some of the advisories. urban and small stream flood advisory for novato, san rafael, mill valley, fairfax, south so leto until 7:45. it is breezy and the creek is getting high. more nuisance flooding than anything else. here's a look where the yellow indicates moderate to heavy rain. we have more moderate rain through mill valley, san francisco, san rafael but richmond and berkeley the rain has been light. on the coast it's getting enhanced due to the or graphics. the higher elevations. half moon bay look at light rain. redwood city, wood side and palo alto, very light rain, if anything at all. milpitas, 680 and 880, you are dry. as well as san jose. but more showers are in the

forecast for you. dublin and the livermore valley. you've got the rain shadow effect as well through concord which means you are not looking at the rain like you are in the north bay. so the snow levels continue to rise. the winter storm warnings for 4:00 this afternoon. 38 degrees at the tahoe valley airport. done with the snow at lake levels. no more at lake level but another foot or two above 8,000 feet. the exploratorium, nice and wet. breezy southwest winds. airport delays about three hours. 53 napa, 55 livermore. emeryville, the sun coming up. a slight letup in the rain after 10:00. the most significant let-up in the north by by the evening hours. by tomorrow give it more rain in the east bay and south by. the reason being, the warm front is moving through the area mao and once we bet colder air in here and the next wave of rain we will see a little bit morin in other parts of the bay.
