slopestyle. an event brand new to the games. big congratulations. >> and sage kotsenburg yesterday, and her morning this morning. and so much emotion. the possible thrill of victory seent face of ashley wagner after a good performance in team figure skating. but moments later, the agony of defeat when her fourth-place score of 63.10 was announced. her team advanced. that was good. >> she didn't hide it? >> norway with five, the u.s., canada and the netherlands, three apiece. they are the ones to catch. >> i have faith. so much to tell you about. our "gma" olympic headquarters in sochi, russia. amy robach is there tracking it all. hi. >> hi, good morning, dan. it is a busy day in sochi with cross-country skiing, speedskating, the biathlon and

figure skating. but it's also a day to celebrate our victories. sage kotsenburg wowed the audience and delivered gold for team usa with his signature move. kotsenburg calls it the holy crail. holding the board behind his back while soaring over the treacherous course. >> he made a calculated risk, a strategic move and it worked. this is what the olympics are about. >> honestly, it was like a dream. winning a gold on the first day and the first event of slopestyle in the olympics. it's seriously the craziest thing ever. >> and the american ladies shut out finland 3-0. but the day belonged to the figure skaters. ashley wagner, the 22-year-old star, nailing some of the most difficult moves and propelling the u.s. team to third place in team competition. this was her redemption skate

after a devastating performance one month ago. >> ashley wagner answered all her critics. she skated solidly. >> but it was this face that set social media ablaze. reminding us of another olympian not impressed. and the american team in medal contention. and for the second day in a row, breaking gold medal news, jaime anderson, a sweep of snowboard envelope stile medals. her fellow gold medalist tweeting, just jumped out of my chair. hashtag, spoice. it's an exclamation of gratitude towards life. and a disappointing day for bode miller. he finished eighth out of 22.

but miller will have chances to medal in the super g and the super combined. and team figure skating continues, the u.s. in medal contention. gracie gold will take the ice, and final competitions in the team category wrapping, see if team usa will take the gold, silver, bronze. we'll take any of them. and this is johnny quinn's bathroom door. we caught up with him this morning. >> once i got out of there. i looked back at the door, and oh, man, there's a giant hole. i went down and contacted the usoc and followed the protocol. the russians have been phenomenal. they came in that evening, got under the circumstances a new door. >> he got a new door, but he didn't have a towel. i think you guys heard that. wow. i love he told us this, i figured i'd get retweets, but he

refuse to testify against their spouses in federal court and eligible to file for joint bankruptcy and have the same prison visitation as heterosexual couples. it will apply even in states that don't recognize their marriages. and the fbi is investigating a possible bomb threat at orlando international airport. on saturday, a jet blue cleaning crew found a letter indicating there was a bomb. the plane was certained, nothing suspicious was found, but the passengers were put on another flight. and a huge meat recall out of california. the rancho meat processing plant is recalling 8.7 million pounds of products. a whole year's worth of meet. they say the process diseased and unsound animals about the benefit of federal inspection. there have been no reports of

illnesses from eating the meat. and a night in chicago takes a frightening turn. watch as the ceiling of the concord music hall comes crashing down in the middle of the concert. the panel gave away with debris scattering among the crowd. the cause is being investigated. but one witness said the music had so much bass in it that it was shaking the ceiling before it came down. and massive plumes the black smoke filled the sky above sayah in, guy. 5,000 tons of rubber caught fire. the fire is contained, but it will take a while for that to burn out. and it appears that it is game over for the flappy bird app, currently the most popular free mobile app on the app store and google's play store. on saturday, the developer said, i'm sorry, 22 hours from now i

will take flappy bird down. i cannot take this anymore. not sure what that means. it's scheduled to be off the market later today. who needs a burglar alarm when you have this? the slightly annoying mounted fish called the sings billy bass. you have one of those? check this out. one store owner in minnesota is crediting it with deterring a thief. the last thing he did was turn on the fish. when he came back the next day, the front door was kicked in, but nothing was stolen. allen and the police say it appears that the burglar was scared away when the fish sang, triggered by the motion detecter. >> doesn't take much. >> easily annoyed and scared off. but pretty low tech. >> he saw the sign. >> the fish! >> there's nothing worth stealing in here. >> there you go. >> thank you, ron.

now to a wild scene on a college basketball court. a player and a fan getting into it. it is not the first time oklahoma state's marcus stewart has shown his temper. but was he at fault here. michelle is on the story. >> he took a pass playing professional basketball, and his welcome return to the courts now tarnished by an altercation with a fan in the stands. in the final moments against texas tech, adrenaline turned into altercation between marcus smart and a fan in the stands. an out of bounds move that marred the game and could land the oklahoma state star in the hot seat. smart was trying to block a shot with just seconds on the clock when he landed in the crowd. officials say it appears words were exchanged before he was shoving the fan. he received a technical fan, and

now the coach and commissioner will be reviewing the tape to see what if any other disciplinary action should be taken. smart, considered one of the top drafts for the nba last year decided to stay on the college courts for his sophomore year. it's early reminiscent in the malice in the palace when a brawl broke out between players and fans after fan john green threw a cup at ron artiz, now known as metta world peace. however, this may not be such a cut and dry case. witnesses to the altercation as well as marcus smart himself, claim that jeff orr was yelling racial slurs at the player. the incident is under review. this young athlete's public perception and possible basketball future in jeopardy by this unfortunate move. what's next? the big 12 conference says it

century after his death, actor james dean is making headlines. @james dean has 8,000 followers and sent out 2200 tweets. it's a fan running the site. that's not sitting well with some of his heirs. >> there's not an official twitter site because it's misappropriated. >> they are suing twitter claiming @james dean isn't trademarked, but they refuse to shut down the handle. >> they're fighting it, because they don't to want open the door to lots of claims of people saying, hey, this was a dead celebrity that needs protection and you're stealing our brand. >> and it's not the first time there's been confusion over twitter hands with famous brands. for instance, at heinz is a journalism professor with the

good morning to you. >> reporter: dan, good morning to you. and bianna, those guys are so popular that they claim they're the favorite team here in sochi. and i got to experience a little bit tonight. everybody stopped them to take a picture. what's not to love. two gentle giants who practice for a sport on ice in the sand. >> it's bobsled time! >> reporter: bobsled time i understand for the jamaican bobsled team back for the first winter olympics since 2002. >> we are approaching this as the underdog and we're hungry. >> reporter: jamaica's bobsled team famously broke the ice at the 1998 winter olympics in calgary. their improbable story inspiring the movie cool runnings. >> say hello to the first jamaican bobsled team. >> reporter: given the tropical setting, they have been training hard in rather soft conditions.

but the jamaicans road to sochi wasn't all sand between their toes. they were broke, unable to cover equipment and travel costs, and captain winston is one of the oldest. how old are you? 47 years old. and once the jamaicans got here, the equipment didn't. causing the team to miss a precious day of the practice. >> nothing that they put in front of us is going to bar us from getting what we deserve. >> reporter: reunited with the luggage, they were at the opening ceremonies. bobsledding is no joke. i learned that firsthand from the u.s. olympic coach. the two-man bobsled doesn't start until next sunday -- so i did my part, helping the guy known as megawatt keep the competitive edge. they qualified by being the top

we have been talking about the major winter storm. i want to take you to video we captured over portions of california. right now, rain still occurring. but this is the video they captured yesterday in san francisco. i want to show you what occurred in sonoma county. it has been so dry that rain will cause issues. a big mud slide, and flooding was a big concern. it was a mess across the pacific northwest and northern california. it was not enough to get out of the drought. but they are expecting more rain today. it's a fast-moving storm through tomorrow. most of the rain around reading, sacramento, just north of san francisco. almost about 12 inches have fallen over portions of california. to the southeast, another storm, a major winter storm, 1-3 inches of snow and ice. from mississippi up to the carolinas. we are expecting the snow to
