live from the kgo-tv broadcast center this is abc7 news. the pay area is getting a break from the heavy rain but our meteorologist, mike nicco is ahead with when the wet weather returns. rain water is bringing to light a new issue for the problem plagued bay bridge and caltran is responding. campaign problem, the governor brown's election team is admitting a mistake involving a republican rival. >> hope you are drying out right now after the rainy and wet weekend. i am kristen sze. >> i am eric thomas. you could face slick roads. mike? steady rain is over but we do have wetness on the road and, still, a few puddles to drive through during the morning. here is live doppler 7 hd with radar in the high country and the when slope of the sierra where it turns to snow in the higher elevations and we are dealing with increasingly dry conditions here in san francisco and, still, drizzle is possible

in the morning and we will keep it there with patchy fog and temperatures run in the mid-to-upper 50's from now through the evening hours where we will see a few pockets of sunshine from noon to 4:00 and mostly cloudy by 7:00. we are running in the 50's with drizzle and fog and we could hit the 60's from time to time during the afternoon depending on many rays of sunshine we get through the cloud deck and fog at coast and drizzle possible through noon and dry in the afternoon and you will be in the mid-to-upper 50's and following into the 40's by the end of day. right now, you do not need the umbrella but it could be different this morning. it is wet, still, and we will talk to leyla gulen about the commute. >> if you are waking up, we have a couple of crashes that have started to clog the roadways and one is in san jose on highway 85. this is right at the caldecott tunnel westbound highway 24 you can see we have an area of green to the south of it and that is

an indication of where the drizzle could be falling and it could reach highway 24 so be careful. drive time traffic shows 580 tracy to dublin is looking good, and the richmond and san rafael bridge it is wet. traffic is coming in much the bay bridge toll plaza at the bay bridge the metering lights are turned on. so give yourself extra time. 6:02. breaking news from san jose where a s.w.a.t. stand offened a few minutes ago, ending at a house where police were negotiating with a man barricaded inside since 6:30 last night. the man who is known to have a hit of violence and weapons was wanted for a physical any arrest. several homes were evacuated with no injuries and the stand off is over. back to continuing storm watch coverage, marin county hit hard by the storm and mill valley saw the most severe flooding and damage. people who work and live along

old mill creek watched the rising water levels through the weekend and stacked the sandbags and used plastic sheets to cover a hillside after a mountain of earth came tumbling down to one home. it stopped short doing any damage. >> flood waters covered parts of roads and this is how it looks at the elementary school. the floods was more of a nuisance than anything and did not cause too many headaches for drivers. >> the rain was so bad in marin county people were forced to ever advantage writ with rock and mudslides closing the roads at the state park yesterday and an employee of the state park said it was a mess. >> it has been pretty scary with a lot of slides and our trails have had a lot of blowouts on the trails. there has been flooding in certain areas so we have been for public safety sakes trying to evacuate the marks.

residents. we have flooding issues in the bay area with the storms that came. mike, is the rain over? >> the rain is over. i am seeing breaks in the cloud cover and stars throughout and planes take off and landing, and it is looking better in many areas but we still have fog we are tracking with live doppler 7 hd with three quarters of a mile in santa rosa and half moon bay. reduces individualibility and slick rods are not a great combination. all of us are in the mid-50's from 53 to 56 degrees headed out to brentwood indicative of everywhere and cooler in santa rosa at 50 and everyone else is in the low-to-mid 50's right now. today, we notice the transition back to dry air and tomorrow we will be dry with sunny conditions and the same as today and upper 50's along the coast and low-to-mid 60 for the rest of us and same temperature on

it is mile. you may have to work through a few puddles to get to the train. bigger picture from the exploritorium, high pressure is starting to build with the calmness on bay. and the breaks in the cloud cover unfortunately enough clouds are out there we have an hour and four minute flight arrival delays into sfo reported by the f.a.a. drizzle and fog is possible through the morning. it will be mostly cloudy in the afternoon. it will be bright with clouds dominating the sky. storm track is moving to the north but i cannot quite take the rain out of the forecast for when, thursday, and friday but it would not be a lot. the moisture is all way to hawaii moving on and drying. that is out. the next weather system will hit mostly northern california and washington and oregon.

wet as you drive to work. a check with mike nicco. >> still slick. we will talk to leyla gulen and find out about the only commute. right now, everything is dry. i am seeing stars but half a mile thary way i can barely see the transamerica tower because of the fog so you can understand the variable conditions this morning. the steady rain has moved off and we will have drizzle and fog for the commute. it is thickest in santa rosa at quarter-mile visibility and half mile at half moon bay. the ground is have saturate asked we will have fog for many of the morning commutes especially in those two areas and we will see if the winds will steer fog into the east bay. i don't think twit happen right now. today, it is mild. low-to-mid 50's. drying trend by noon. breaks in the cloud cover and mid-to-upper 50's. we will hang out there through

4:00 and mild in the evening with low-to-mid 50's. that is the day planner this monday. how about the commute? leyla gulen? >> nothing to look forward to here. everyone is starting to see a fair share of citizens and as we look at albany, berkeley, westbound 80 at gilman street, it is spoiling the commute with all the red coming from before the hoffman split. it is bumper-to-bumper traffic. at saratoga, highway nine, a tree fell because of the saturate ground. check out the power lines, we had areas of green indicating drizzle that could make it way across 580, and if you are headed out be careful. a look at walnut creek southbound 680 it is slow and sluggish away from highway four and it will take 14 minutes. we have breaking news from san jose, where a man is in custody following a s.w.a.t.

stand off. the sand off ended just before 5:30 this morning, an hour ago, at a house. police have been negotiating since 6:30 last night. the man who is known to be violent with weapons was wanted for a felony arrest. several homes remain evacuated. there were no injuries. the stand off is now over. >> back to our storm watch coverage, the north bay was hit hardest over the weekend and our reporter is in marin county with that part of the story. amy? >> look at old mill creek it is finally flowing here through the downtown and it has been dry in a week but rain filled it up over the weekend. there was so much rain, some near misses, and this hillside could not handle it and gave way a little bit with the mud tumbling to the bottom toward a home. but it missed it.

the creek filled up over the weekend with the downtown rain in mill valley, a lot of people were watching it closely and got worried. >> i came in around 11:30 or 12 to do some work and i saw the water raging. scary. you think of how much computer equipment you could lose. >> the north bay was hit the hardest over the weekend with flash flood warnings in place which have been lifted. there was flooding in low-lying area but no major flooding problems to report. the rain was welcomed and celebrated. some officials are saying do not be fooled, it wasn't enough to catch us up. this morning, if you look live, keep conserving water. in the north bay, it is dry this morning. meteorologist mike nicco was showing you san francisco and dry conditions. the same is true in the north bay, no rain this morning but keep in mind the streets are

wet. more on mill valley, it was clean up day yesterday for a bar this, a combination of heavy rain and high tide flooded the 2 a.m. club on milliary avenue force -- on miller avenue closing it to close an hour early last night. >> a busy intersection re-opened after being closed for the day yesterday. steady rainfall forced caltran to close the intersection where highways 121 and highway 12 meet. in other parts of the north bay unrelenting rain caused flash flooding. in addition to flooded streets the latest storm toppled trees including an 80 for the for the tall oak that crashed down on to a car and fence. >> heavy flooding has closed muir woods national park. the parking lot made it impossible at the pelican inn to

covering walnut creek, burlingame and all the bay area, this is abc7 news. welcome back at 6:46. happening today, caltran will hold a 10:00 a.m. news conference following reports of leak on the if you bay bridge. abc7 news reporter cornell bernard joins us with what is wrong this time. >> first it was faulty bolts and rods and now the problem is leaks. caltran says the bridge is safe but they have a problem with leaks that need to be repaired. rain water got into the steel structure under the road deck on the suspension struck of the span which is supposed to be water height. the crews spend the weekend looking for the leaks. corrosion could weaken the integrity but leaks were anticipated. >> i was inside the bridge at the end of last week and it is late rally water that is checking on the bolts, almost like condensation on the car

window. then enough builds up and it drops. there are not riffs in the inside of the bridge. >> we will get a tour later this morning with the engineers showing us the leaks and tell us how they plan to fix it. they point out that everything needs maintenance because in bolting system will ever prerent water from coming in. the bridge costs $6.4 million to build and it is supposed to last well into the next century. tomorrow, the western span of the bay bridge will be rechristened the willie l. brown jr. bridge and israel will erect signs showing the new name. supporters raised $6,000 in private funds to pay for the sign. >> trading is underway on correct so we will look at the big board, with the dow at 6:47

here is live doppler 7 hd showing it is quiet, and some drizzle, some mist in the air and fog and half mile at stand rose and get used to that, the ground is saturated we will have fog in the morning and in the before mentioned areas and other areas, as well. temperatures are mild, at alum rock 49, and 55 in san jose, and 56 in mountain view and sunnyvale, and los gatos and los altos hills at 52 and low-to-mid 50's everywhere this morning with 53 in san francisco and alameda and lafayette and downville and 55 in newark and redwood city. this is how it looks on mount tamalpais, some of the clouds are draping across there and there was actually a spot in marin county supposedly registering 20" of rain but we will make sure that is far and above everyone else.
