it is just now hitting our reporting stations so this is patchy fog for the commute. through the afternoon, we are going to be mostly cloudy with a chance of sprinkles north but still mild at 60 along the coast and low-to-upper 60's inland. >> we have mass transit delays. bart is 15 minutes late at sfo. in pittsburg bay point direction because of an equipment malfunction. drive time traffic shows 580, tracy to dublin is 29 minutes. from san rafael to san francisco is 16 minutes. from berkeley to the maze to the bay bridge, taillights can barely be seen through the fogs pushing to 580 westbound, and eastbound traffic is empty but

watch out for the fog it could be a problem for the commute. >> breaking news, two people were injured in a fire that started in a high-rise apartment building near san francisco state university. the fire started after midnight at the markets. firefighters say the flames were confined to to to a 6th floor abc7 news reporter amy hollyfield will have a report at 5:30. in oakland police have a "person of interest" in custody this morning after amber alert went statewide. abc7 news reporter cornell bernard has the latest. cornell? >> miss have a lot of questions for the man calling a "person of interest" and hoping he can explain an amber alert which turned out to be a false alarm. >>blyization roy mccamey was picked up for questioning but

will not say if he is the suspect in the surveillance video. it is believed he shoplifted from the safeway in oakland and carjacked a man and 13-year-old girl. police say the three knew each other and it turns out the girl is an adult. police are looking for her but they had no choice they say but to assume the worse and call for the amber alert. >> it would be a negligent and a failure on law enforcement part if we did not take that information and move it forward in the proper fashion. the amber alert was canceled yesterday. ones say mccamey was seen hang out at the safeway. the suspect stole steak and lobster and was armed with a knife. >> danger. danger. danger. >> video surfaced on social media showing bart police

officers tasering a passenger with the circumstances unknown that led up to the accident. the video was up loaded january 30. we are working or more information on the video and what led to the tasering. a coroner's inquest into a fatal shooting in antioch in may will begin in court held in the fatal shooting of a 21 year old who police say was a suspected drug dealer. investigators say he was a passenger in a truck that rammed an unmanned police car while officers were trying to serve a search warrant at a home on buchanan road. two officers opened fire killing byrnes. the coroner will present the facts to the jury. >> funeral service is planned for 15-year-old denzel jones shot outside the west oak land boys and girls club 15 -- february 1 while talking to a

35-year-old who died in the shooting. a $20,000 reward is offered to catch the killer. a supervisor in santa clara wants official to make sure the remain employers in the service industry are paying their employees fairly. the supervisor believes that many low income workers are the victims of wage theft. some are paid below minimum wage and others are forced to work overtime without center pay. they will get lawyers to help workers collect back pay. the board will review the plan february 25. >> uber will perform, spanned background checks on the drivers, on the blog saying they will now employ an independent screening service that uses a multistate criminal database. until now uber relied on background checks performed by state and local agencies after a wrongful death lawsuit was filed against uber after a driver hit and killed a six-year-old san francisco girl on new year's eve. thousands of technical

workers have a new way to get to work. facebook launched a private ferry service to shuttle employees between san francisco and redwood city and plans to test it out for 90 days. we reported this month that google ended the trial run of ferry service for employees and now is evaluating whether to resume the private ferry, perhaps on a permanent basis. now back to the roof and the weather with meteorologist, mike nicco. >> we will start with looking at what is going on. at the airport we will have a lot cancellations and delays. is showing the snow pulling from the carolinas and move through the virginias to washington where it is all know and philadelphia will change to rain headed through the morning and same in new york. boston will stay snow. call ahead. at home, our commute is for

wallop. the snow has been falling through the night. good morning. the storm arrived in washington, dc overnight, and there is a freezing rain and snow mix all morning. this is the part of the country that is used to this but a last people are playing it safe and staying home today. this. on, a mammoth winter storm is paragraph amending the east coast, 100 million americans are waking up to snow, ice, and freezing rain. the storm downed trees and knocked out power to hundreds of thousands. in virginia the national guard is on stand by. salt trucks and plows are out. >> we can handle it. snow is always a problem but that is what we are here for. >> the storm socked the south leaving behind dangerous ice. look at the traffic mess in north carolina, car after car abandoned. >> avoid i-85 at all costs. it is not looking good.

rapidly. look at emeryville we can barely see 80 this morning as we look straight down on top of it. definitely changeable conditions developing right now. we will look at live doppler 7 hd and i will show you how we are down to a mile in oakland and two in san carlos. we will have flight arrival delays in sfo. we down to five in san jose. we are looking at fog that is thick on 280. first, i will show you how thick the fog is getting in san francisco. as you look at bay bridge, low-to-mid spirit and sprinkles in the not bay and cooler at the coast near 60. leyla, what do you have? >> track is loading up at the central freeway. if you are taking bart this morning we have an early delay that is cleared.

at sfo it is all gone. everything now is on time and 43 bart trains, muni all on time. look at the green: no accidents to report this morning. top speeds are everywhere but the altamont pass, 580 tracy to dublin is 35 minutes. hour four westbound from antioch to concord is 15 minutes and from san rafael to san francisco under 20 minutes. >> breaking overnight, 200 people are back if their hey rise after they evacuated when a fire break out in the building near san francisco state university. abc7 news is at the apartments. amy? >> when a high-rise building is on fire it causes quit a scare. firefighters went to a second alarm in the sunset district with residents telling the firefighters they can see the flames coming from the floor so they immediately called in more fire trucks. they wanted to be aggressive and

wanted everyone out of the building. >> the building requires evacuation and that is an effort , we used precautionary measures to evacuate the building. >> two were hurt and taken to the hospital. the dispatch are said one was taken at a code three level which means lights and sirens were used. she does not have the condition of the two victims. she said the red cross was not called. this indicated that everyone was allowed to return home. firefighters say they kept the fire to one unit. no word on the cause of the fire. new to new video showing bart police tasering a man.
