live from the kgo tv broadcast center this is abc 7 news. >> rain moving back into the bay area tonight. you can see heavy patches heading our way. let's take a live look outside where you can see more rain starting to come down right now and standing water affecting tonight's drive. earlier today it was really coming down. you can see the rain and fog on our camera. abc 7 news meteorologist is live with the first check of weather and live doppler. >> we are starting to get a wave of moisture moving through the san francisco bay area. wet pavement here. most of the rain has been north of the golden gate bridge. this has subsided.

but more moisture has developed just off the coast there. let me show you some of the heavier cells to the south and west heading towards the sunnyvale area as well. you can see returns in the shades of yellow. san jose picking up rain. even down towards santa cruz and check out what is going on out towards livermore valley area. they had quite a bit of rainfall move through that area. in the north bay not that much at all. things will start to pick up a little more overnight tonight. i do want to emphasize this is a very weak system and tomorrow we will enjoy some sunshine. back to you. >> good deal. the rain is causing minor problems around the bay area. here a steady rain combined with

wind. the chp has issued a warning for flooding along 101. you can track the rain in the bay area by using live doppler 7 hd on our abc 7 weather app. our weather app makes it easy to share photos of how you are welcoming the rain tonight. you can download it on our website. we are learning more about a san jose firefighter arrested. 53-year-old mario quest s is accused of multiple crimes as well as selling meth to kids. lisa spoke with some parishioners tonight. >> reporter: being held without bail tonight. he has been here since thursday. tonight members of his church got this letter about him from the diocese. as parishioners left mass they

read the church bulletin and saw this insert stating a background check was done before he started volunteering in 2012 and nothing had been flagged. >> of course, we just got to pray. >> reporter: he worked in the ministry of music and sang regularly at saint leo the great. on thursday under cover agents from a special task force which included the department of justice arrested him at the fire administration building. they seized his computer and searched his home. the 53 year old is accused of selling meth with high school students as well as having sex with a 17 year old. >> he was a member of our church. god will judge him. we can just pray. >> reporter: he was a community

outreach officer for the fire department and worked with neighborhood associations, schools and church groups. >> very unfortunate being a firefighter because lots of young people want to be firefighters. >> reporter: he will make his first court appearance tuesday. in san jose. >> service will shut down after a man hit and killed by a train. it tied up riders efforts of getting to the chinese new year tonight. >> reporter: service was restored after the victim's body was removed from the track. a man was hit by a train as it approached the station. we talked with this man and three other people off camera who say they were friends with the man who died. they told us he was homeless and stored a backpack under the

platform. he got hit while trying to retrieve it. he couldn't confirm details of this incident but said it is tough to keep an eye on every nook and cranny. >> for reasons both fire laws and security some of the doors and some of the rooms must remain open so occasionally we find people who put belongings where they shouldn't. >> officials say they try to clear out any homeless empcampment they find as quickly as possible. police shut down four stations after 3:00 p.m. which was the time lanes started to get diverted in preparation for the chinese new year parade. >> we are trying to get there and we don't know how because we r: did they tell yowith the >> reporter: did they tell you how to get there? >> not really. >> reporter: one person was also injured in this incident.

the station agent was hurt when it came to an abrupt stop. and huge crowds lined the streets of san francisco tonight for the annual chinese new year parade. headed west on market street and down post and ended in china town. more than 100 entrants took part in the procession to celebrate the year of the horse. dozens of floats, marching bands and lion dancers along with city officials and ms. china town usa. some spectateers have been coming to the parade for more than a decade. >> never gets boring. it's the best. >> the parade ended with the golden dragon that is 268 feet long. it takes a team of more than 100 men and women to carry it. this is the largest parade of its kind outside of asia and taking place for more than 150

years. streets were packed for the china town community street fair. street closures continue tomorrow. you see them highlighted on the yellow map. they include sections of grant as well as jackson and washington street. the homeless in san francisco can access city's shelters by dialing three numbers, a new system where dialing 311 reserves a spot at a shelter. the reservation is for three months at any homeless shelters. a florida man convicted. jurors found michael dunn guilty of shooting into a car at a gas station in 2012. dunn was charged with shooting jordan davis of marietta, georgia. he claims he acted in self defense. mistrial was declared on the first degree murder charge.

two hunters accused of shooting a game warden. a shot was fired hitting him in the hand and neck. the hunters gave the warden first aid. new figures show 243 people have died from the flu this season. authorities are investigating an additional 41 deaths this year as possibly flu related. in the bay area 51 deaths reported. authorities say it is still not too late to get a vooaccine. a group of stores linked to outbreak. the business is just one identified statewide as having po received tainted beef from rancho feeding corporation. brown's meat manager questions the recall itself. >> it goes from january 1, 2013

yet another snow storm is pounding the northeast tonight. forecasters calling up to two feet of snow in parts of massachusetts. in rhode island officials asking for people to stay off the roads for the next 12 hours. abc news reporter has the preparations for the storm. >> reporter: the latest snow storm comes with renewed fears over the damage all that piled up snow can do to buildings. the average home can withstand about two feet of snow before the roof becomes susceptible to collapse. that is more than what some parts of the northeast have gotten. much more than that this week. this 17 year old didn't need a roof over his head, his dog kept

of getting around new york city and didn't get a ticket. even so, don't try this at home. >> pretty cool. the storm is still having a big effect here in the bay area. flights have been delayed up to 90 minutes throughout the day at sfo. delays at oakland and san jose have been minimal. we are still facing a major drought. one bay area community is taking emergency and controversial measures to help. the city council has approved letting grape growers and ranchers use highly treated recycled wastewater. despite the recent rain you can see on this map how dry the state still is. the brown shows where plant growth is below normal. the green shows normal vegetation growth. the past year has been driest since record keeping began.

area. >> hi again, everyone. what is falling in downtown san francisco is the very misty, fine droplets. it is enough and heavy enough to wet the wavement out here and start to look at a little bit of puddling in some spots. live doppler 7 showing you the northern half of the cold front has more than you can tell and has pretty much fallen apart. the southern edge has started to inflame a bit in the last couple of hours bringing moderate rain in the last 15 or 20 minutes. if you cross over today reporting moderate rain and look to just the east -- to the west, rather. the moderate rain starting to move and to the north of tracy. and those of you short changed

last weekend with the heavy rain. it looks like this weekend with, very weak frontal system is giving you all more moisture than the north bay. just a few sprinkles here and there. heavier rain earlier this afternoon. and in the high sierra, blue canyon has seen the rain decrease and move on towards the east. higher elevations at snow level sitting at about 8,000 feet. the snow that will fall will be above that level. a roof top cam showing a misty night in the city. san francisco 56. and looking out over the bay hazy sky as the low clouds are with us as well as the mist and drizzle. napa 55 and 55 in concord. here is a look at our forecast. we are going to go with areas of light rain overnight and maybe a mist and drizzle. it will be breezy at times as
