no reports to report. from antioch to bay point you can see nothing but top speeds. if you grab 680 to walnut creek, nothing but top speeds. headed through walnut creek out to lafayette and orinda, taking highway 24 to the caldecott tunnel, that is looking clear. in san jose, that is 280, northbound and southbound, not of highway 17, a couple of cars but nothing to get in your way. we have been following breaking news from switzerland and that is where the police arrested the co-pilot of an ethiopian jetliner after he hijacked the plane. the boeing 767 landed safely and the co-pilot demanded asylum saying he faced dangers at home in ethiopia. the co-pilot locked the cockpit door when the captain went to use the bathroom. he asked to land in switzerland and the flight was headed from

ethiopia's capital to rome. italian fire jets escorted the plane. >> fairfield police need the help to find the killer of a 16-year-old shot dead over the weekend. amy hollyfield is at police headquarters. >> kristen, police are saying they do need to talk to people would were there the night she was killed. here is a picture of the victim: she was 16-year-old naomy rojas shot to death early saturday morning. police found her at 4:15 in the morning in the 1400 block of phoenix drive a row apartment complexes there in forward. they found her body near the railroad tracks. >> this is an ongoing investigation we are trying to put the pieces together. >> application have not released any information about any possible suspects they are trailing. they are just saying the investigation is on going with no arrests. they are asking people to call

the police department if they have information and stressing that witnesses can remain anonymous. this morning, a 53-year-old martinez woman is under arrest on suspicion of murder. she was booked into contra costa jail on murder. the victim was found dead inside a home yesterday. the coroner is withholding the victim's identity until family are notified. >> new details if a sight outside a popular mall in san francisco that happened after 7:00 last night right outside the westfield mall near powell and market. a nine-year-old was hit twice by gunfire and taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. the bart station was closed for several hours while police investigateing. abc7 news cover is covering the story with more on the investigation at 5:30. >> san rafael police officers have started wearing body

cameras to record what happened when they are on patrol. the pilot project will last for 90 days. san rafael is the latest bay area city and the second in marin county to use body cameras. police can use the cameras to build evidence against suspects and defend themselves from excessive force complains. some departments have seen accusations against officers decrease when they start wearing the cameras. >> a march is held to demand the release of findings in the shooting death of a santa rosa teen. andy lopez was shot and killed by a sheriff deputy in october. the deputy ordered lopez to drop what he said he thought was an assault rifle and fired eight shots. it was a bb gunlocking like an action 47. the d.a. says records are never released to the public while under review for the possibility of criminal charges. a deadly crash took the lives of a 34078 and her children as their helpless father watched. the 29-year-old mother and her

four children all younger than 11 were killed when a van ran a stopped sign and crashed into the s.u.v. the husband was driving a quarter mile behind the s.u.v. tried to pull them out of the burning car but was unable to free his family. the driver of the other car was air lifted to the hospital for treatment. >> a man who died in a motorcycle crash in san francisco over the weekend is identified as a well-known local business owner. 42-year-old and his brother are owners of drewes meat in san francisco. he died on saturday morning after losing control of the motorcycle and falling from an elevated portion of highway 101. he took over the meats in 1998. the business started 125 years ago and is thought to be the oldest operating butcher shot in california. this morning, a mobile home packed with explosives is now a pile burned debris.

the sheriff deputies set the home on fire yesterday, their only choice after 60 pounds of explosive material was found inside. the materials if the house were said to be so volatile that deputies could not walk on the property. the explosives were discovered a welcome off an explosion blew off the homeowner's hand. >> arson investigators are looking into three fires set in san jose at a middle school just after 6:00 yesterday. firefighters said there were flames coming from a dumpster, a rash can and from debris alongside the school and were put out swingly. the school was not damaged. volunteers in richmond are getting things in explain in a visit from the dalai lama. the leader will speak at the berkeley community theater february 23. the dalai lama will stop and bless the community center in richmond. value materials were busy laying tile and polishing artifacts to get everything ready for the visit.

light sprinkles and lit rain in the north bay and wednesday afternoon the sun is out. that is the cool of the day. thursday we are two to four degrees warmer which is the beginning of a warming trend through the weekend. leyla gulen? >> i have been looking mike, and we do not have any traffic this morning because of president's day. a last people are staying home. for those who are heading out town, we will see what it will take to head out to lake tahoe. highway 50 is three hours and 15 minutes. and highway 88 is three hours and 25 minutes from the bay area and highway 80 is these hours, with no chains required and not snowing out there and that will make the trip easier if you are headed up to lake tahoe. i will let you know that we do have plenty of mass transit agencies running on a weekend schedule and bart rolls at 6:00 this morning, and you want to check your local transit agency for the schedule. here is a look at drive time

are in the mid-to-upper 30's in many areas and san rafael is one of the exceptions at 46 and guerneville at 40. you can see we have temperatures in the 40's in a lost areas, low-to-mid 40's until cupertino and half moon bay at 39. san jose and newark, at 42. from the east bay hills, it is clean air in emeryville back to south africa and partly cloudy conditions and high clouds will stream in, the next couple of hours. light rain will have a little bit of a chance on tuesday night into wednesday with a weak storm system and limited moisture coming through, and when it passes, we will have a warmer-than-average weekend. now, temperatures today: they will be warmest inland like livermore at 65 and morgan hill and san jose and oakland, napa, santa rosa and san rafael at 64 and fremont at 65.

in. i am not sure what kristen experienced unless someone let sprinkler system on. you can see on live doppler 7 hd everything is dry. there is the high clouds starting to stream in. not even getting much in the way of reports of low clouds that could seep across the peninsula. the first forecast shows high clouds making it colorful and the temperatures as we head to the afternoon hour, mid-60's and that is around the bay and low-to-mid 60's inland and upper 50's along the coast. increasing high clouds and temperatures close to average on this president's difficult. now, lurking cars...are there any? >> maybe someone was cleaning their windshield using windshield wipers. we have clear conditions and we have 580 westbound from tracy to dublin, 24 minutes. highway 4, antioch to conquer, 14 minutes and 101 through marin county southbound from san rafael, into san francisco that is under 20 minutes and it is top speed, accident-free every

the suspect escaped in a san sedan. both victims are expected to recover. police in the south bay are looking for the driver who ran over a man on a busy san jose street at 3:00 yesterday between capitol expressway and the woods drive. police say a man was fighting in the traffic lines with someone in a car and witnesses told police that person was back in the car and ran over the man. investigators are looking into weather that victim was also stabbed during the fight. he died at the scene. >> new details in the shocking murder of a millionaire tech investor inside his silicon valley home. he was killed november 2012 in an apparent home invasion robbery at the mansion. our media partner reports that one of those charges in the killing believed he had stolen $30,000 from him and that may have been the motive. a prostitute and two others are charged in his death and are being held without bail. >> sheriffs have arrested the

see if there is any rain this week and whether we will have more snow in lake tahoe. >> a woman accused in person of a craigslist murder is confessing to dozens of others. the 19-year-old miranda barbour said she killed at at least 22 and up to five times that. barbour says she started when she was just 13 and part of a satanic cult and the victims are in california, alaska, texas and north carolina. barbour and her husband are charged with killing a man they lured through a craigslist ad. the f.b.i. is now investigating. people looking to sign up for health insurance through through the website are out of luck because the social security administration is running a systems maintenance. they rely on the social security administration to verify data. the site should be up and running tomorrow morning.
