francisco as an elderly woman was badly beaten while inside the emergency room at san francisco general hospital. good evening. i'm dan ashley. carolyn johnson is off tonight. abc7 news reporter alan wang is live at sf general with details. take us through what happened. >> here tonight we can see police presence here, but not specifically for the attack on the elderly woman which happened here on friday night around 10:00. police officers are actually posted here on a regular basis. in fact, just tonight we saw them dealing with a man who appeared to have been involved in some kind of disruption in the er, and we saw them bringing out another manppened happened cuffs -- handcuffs. the attack on an elderly woman is the first time anything like this has happened. the officer told me the suspect who we now know was being transferred from the emergency room to the psych psyr for evaluation. that's when he off the jumped

off the gear knee and -- gurney and randomly attacked a woman being treated and immediately pulled off and restrained by sheriff deputies nearby. the woman suffered some bruises, but she did not have to be hospitalized for the attack. in a statement, sf general wrote san francisco general hospital and trauma center is ss injured while in our care. we take patient safely seriously and are reviewing procedures. coming back live, the elderly woman is live at the hospital for her previous ailment and not the attack. hospital officials tell me patients with violent histories are escorted in under restraint. she was not under restraints or police escorts which could suggest the hospital would san francisco what he did. general hospital here in san francisco, alan wang, abc7 news. >> thanks. this incident is the latest in

a series of problems including the death of lynn spalding who went missing from san francisco general and ultimately found dead in an exterior stirwell at the hospital. investigators found hospital and the san francisco sheriff's department at fault in that case. more breaking news, a flight from san francisco to hong kong took a frightening turn when it ran into unexpected severe turbulence. it happened in the airspace over japan, but the flight continued for six more hours on to hong kong. a total of 342 people were on board the cafe pacific flight that departed san francisco just before noon yesterday. this photo shows ambulances waiting for the flight to arrive. the airline says two crew members and six passengers went to the hospital to be treated. on social media passengers say it was a complete mess with overhead bins opening and luggage flying around the cabin. they say safety is its first priority and it is working with investigators tonight.

violence since demonstrators took to the streets three months ago. at least 21 people were killed in clashes including seven police officers. >> watching this on tv i cannot imagi how heartbreaking it is for people. >> they are watching the deadly mayhem a world away in the bay area. his home country of ukraine in a brutal political standoff. >> the country is in default. the economy is in a horrible situation in the ukraine. we can see the peace of the protest that people have a right to protest. they scr a right to say what they want. >> ukrainian-americans say it is the worst bloodshed since they separated two decades ago. protests began last november when the ukrainian president ditched years of negotiations with the european union turning instead to russia for loans. san francisco-ukrainian

police suspect there may be more young vehicle times out there. lisa amin gulezian is live in sunnyvale. what makes police believe other kids were assaulted? >> they are not 100% sure, but those here at the department admit this case is very complicated. there are lots of layers to it and it spans several years and all that means is there is a chance that more victims could be out there. michael anthony has lived in this house most of his life. it was in this neighborhood that police say he found his very young vehicle times. four -- victims. four children between the ages a ma -- molested by anthony between 1999 and 2005. >> one of my friends that lived here said it happened, but it was she was 10 or something. there was something about him touching her. >> police arrested anthony at his home last tuesday and they also found child porn in the house.

sting that lead to the arrest of drug charges. he made his initial court appearance today. abc7 news was first to tell you about his arrest. investigators got a tip and an undercover officerhim aboutpprod him about buying meth. >> they went and had lunch and discussed the transaction. ultimately the first transaction involved the sale of an eighth of an ounce of methamphetamine. >> he is accused of making another offer of meth a week later. at the time of his arrest investigators searched his car a small found a small amount of the drug they believe he used recreationally. this is video of his public access show in 2011. he is now in jail under protective custody. prosecutors look into claims that he gave drugs to and have sex with a 17-year-old boy. moving on to other matters, it is not rain

the city says it needs the money to avoid a fiscal crisis. those affected include clerical, maintenance and animal control workers who earn between $50,000 and $78,000 a year. the most recent cut is on top of a 12% pay and benefits cut agreed to in recent years. we have new details about a crash involving an oakland utility truck. the city is set to pay $2 million in connection with that accident. at least six people were hurt when the van ran a red light two years ago as we reported at the time sending an suv into the front of the nail salon. one of the victims sued and the city council was expected to approve a $2 million settlement. a lawsuit by a second victim is still pending. a lot more to bring you. coming up next on abc7 new controversial plan to purge a park of squirrels and gophers. why a local city says they are causing a potentially toxic situation. and too little, too late.

for a case of beer. outrageous. let's go back and talk about a little change in the weather forecast. sandhya patel is on the roof of the ab abc7 broadcast center starting with your morning commute. >> it may be damp in spots. a few clouds and moonlit skies. let's show you live doppler 7hd and we will talk about what is coming and already seeing a few sprinkles showing up as we show you our live doppler 7hd. fort ross could see a few drops as we head toward the morning commute around parts of the bay area. we need those drops. we are counting every bit. look at the season to date. santa rosa is 37% of average with over 9 inches so far. san francisco 35% of normal. livermore is not far behind and oakland is 31 and san jose is only 27% of where it should be. just over two and a half inches of rain. it is breezy. some fog is showing up there.

53 in san francisco and 53 san jose. it is 49 in los gatos. tomorrow morning you may have to watch out for patchy fog as you can see from our exploratorium camera. santa rosa, petaluma, concord, livermore and sfo may face delays. the ceilings are lowering. cloudy with patchy fog and drizzle. sunny and breezy tomorrow afternoon and it will be spring-like at the end of the week. here is a look at the pacific satellite picture. so far today we have seen the temperatures in the mid50s to mid60s. we have seen the high clouds and no rain. rain has been up in northern california, but this weak cold front is going to squeeze out some moisture. it is limited, and you will see that the front does fall apart. we will go with spotty drizzle at the part of the rush hour at 5:00 a.m. you may need to slow down in some spots. blue skies are to the afternoon and it is going to get breezy. now we are going to take a look at the long range forecast. the high pressure builds in and it is in the 70s hitting

the weekend. and then we start to see a pattern that is trending wetter later next week and this is exciting if it materializes. right now a couple of computer models are looking for wetter weather going into saturday. we could see some soaking rain. tomorrow morning is starting out with the damp roadways. you may want to leave earlier. watch out for the fog and then tomorrow afternoon it is blue skies and breezy weather. upper 50s to mid60s. a look at the accu-weather seven-day forecast, and the temperatures will do a turn around by friday going into the weekend. unseasonably warm. we will see some 70s around th bay area. 60s coast side and then we willower the numbers a little bit as we ward early next week because the middle to latter part of next week, we will notice some changes. fingers crossed. dan, live from the roof of the kgo weather center. another great weather
