this morning, and leyla gulen has the details. good morning, everyone, if you are waking up, what started off with a need for speed we had a high speed chase in the east bay with c.h.p. ending in crash off of northbound 680 in danville. we could have that off-ramp shut down at this time and well let you know when it re-opens and southbound traffic is moving along fine and we look at another part of 680 from leften hill to walnut creek taillights headed to highway 24 and it is moving fine with no activity to report and the bay bridge toll plaza away from the maze to san francisco a few extra cars and it hooks like everyone is at top speed and no crashes. look at this, firefighters are on the scene of a house fire near williams street. this break out an hour ago and witnesses could see the flames from the freeway on 880.

hand and glass in the eye. police say there have been five of these pranks and they have to stop. >> we are looking for a white pickup truck and mid-2000s. that is all the information we have. >> this is happening in santa rosa along state route 12 where there have been attacks near stony point. no students were on the school buses were hit but drivers are getting hurt and it could kill. they want to stop this person. this have been five attacks, three cars and two school buses. they say it is a felony to throw something at a moving vehicle if someone is hurt. >> police are investigating a fatal shooting in east san jose this morning in what the shooter says is self-defense. investigator say a resident on pine ridge way said a man was

trying to break into his home last night at 8:00 and he fired shots after the burglar shot at him. the bug already 2:00 off and the suspect was dropped off at the hospital with a wound and died a short time later. katie marzullo is on the scene and will have a report for us coming up at 5:30. >> the search is underway if a gunman in a deadly shooting near 77th and bancroft and the identity has not been released. police say a transit because was driving by and was caught in the cross fire. it happened at 4:00 yesterday afternoon and the line 40 bus was hit three times times and ne on the bus was hurt. >> software engineers are working to resolve a glitch that forced cover california to take a key part of the website off line. people trying to enroll for health care insurance through the exchange have not been able to since yesterday. cover california says the engineers are work around the clock and consumers can access the site to get basic

>> a man has been shot and killed in san jose and homicide are trying to figure out if it was murder or self-defense. katie marzullo? >> san jose police have left the scene so we can get closer. this is the house where the shooting happened. i have talked with a neighbor who lives a couple of houses away and he says there is always trouble at this house with people coming and going and it is a suspicious situation. the shooting happened before 8:00 last night and police got a 9-1-1 call and responded to the house on pine ridge way. a man said someone was trying to break into his house and the person fired some shots so he fired back in the person's general direction. police did not fine the suspect and the man who did the shooting said he took off with one other person in a car. a short time later police got a call a man with a gunshot wound turned up at a local hospital

and died. investigators do believe the two incidents are connected and the man who died at the hospital was one of the alleged burglary suspects at this house. they have not identified that person and they are still looking interest whether this was, indeed, self-defense. it is the eighth homicide in san jose for the year. san jose mayor has laid out vision for this year and beyond after delivering the final state of the city address. last night he made public safety again the number one priority. the mayor suggested ways to improve the fire department's dangerously slow response time. he says the city needs to implement a motorcycle medic program as in europe, using two person squad cars for medical emergencies and bring the number of firefighters on a rig from four to three. >> in my final ten months in office my top priority is improving public safety and the quality of life for residents. >> the residents say good
