good afternoon, everybody, i'm larry beil >> right now, our storm system is kicking into high gear. people leaving work in the financial district are dealing with the rain. winds are intensifying. parts of the area now under a wind advisory >> the bay area has been busy preparing so as the winds pick up, trees are coming down, including this one in los altos. problems on the peninsula.

>> let's take a look at conditions now this, is our mount tam camera. you can see rain drops on the lens. winds are swaying trees let's get the latest now from abc7 weather anchor spencer christian. >> here is a look at live doppler seven hd. you can see by greens and yellows we've got rainfall spread across the bay area now and more off shore. let's close in on this area, though. east bay and south bay, we're getting a steady rainfall in east bay lobings like union city and pleasanton. and down in fremont look at animation sheing you the sweeping radar now. we've got the movement of the radar, looping radar is what i'm trying to say. more patches of moisture moving into our direction and pretty intense activities out to sea going to bring us more heavy rainfall overland shortly and a bit of a lightning going on

about 125 miles off shore may work inland in the evening hours. we also have another element complicating the weather picture, strong winds developing along the coast. gusts could reach or exceed 50 miles per hour. that is increasing a possibility of downed trees and power outages. moving along to take a look at winds now, not terribly strong at the moment. gusts 20 miles per hour in sfo. 35 miles per hour gusts across the bay at oakland. they'll get stronger during overnight hours and at 5:00 this afternoon, getting ahead of myself, wide spread heavy rainfall that tapers into showers. taking a look at weather there is another storm coming our way later. >> and david louie is live

the santa clara mountains. iets been this way this afternoon in felton as well. there has been a report of a tree down nearby, but people are absolutely thrilled to have this much rain. >> big fat rain drops on the surface of boulder creek making it clear this storm has rainfall, at least in santa cruz mountains. residents saw their spirits pick up. >> it's awesome. we needed it here, it's been a super dry year. it's about time. it's great. >> the water district is monitoring precipitation and encouraged by impact. however, the storms won't erase them. >> we'll have rain in 12 hours expected to go to sea.

with a second storm. slight chance of flooding and thunderstorms. starting tomorrow night at 10:00 a second storm swings in. it will be stormy by 3:00 a.m hours before beginning of the rush mour, more wide spread stormy weather. it's going to be messy with lots of rain behind that front. giving way to showers taper into friday night and saturday morning. winds gusting strongly again. starting wind gust forecast animation, at 10:00 in the evening notice how winds pick up with gusts on the coast and over 40 miles per hour. livermore in san jose, gusts up to 50.

then those winds taper off into friday morning. rainfall totals by saturday morning. another four inches of rain in parts of the north bay mountains and santa cruz mountains and another 1 to 2 inches likely on top of the rain we've had. some showers and windy conditions. highs breaking the 60 degree mark. here is the accu-weather forecast. we'll see a raw windy rainy day on friday with high temperatures into 50s inland and around the bay. then, will beings like a slight chance of rain next monday, and tuesday, and wednesday. >> thank you. a's fans are turning up nerd

>> we're on storm watch with rainfalling now all over the bay area. spencer christian is tracking it. we've got pockets of moderate to heavy rainfall in parts of the north bay. points northward up to clover dale, in sections of the east bay between antioch and livermore, down in the south bay, east of san jose and into mount hamilton area. and a slow potentially hazardous evening commute. things are going to be complicated by strong, gusty winds. it could exceed 50 miles per hour. especially near the coastline. >> abc7 news reporter joins with us a look at the conditions in the east bay. and nick, you draw the lucky

straw. it doesn't look too bad. >> talked about how rain just hasn't stoped and that tree is evidence of that. you know, oakland public works are ware the tree could be a problem. so, they decided to chop it down. and that is what today has been about, preparing for the rain. there are many ways to prepare for the rain. some pulled out wet weather attire, other was a trusty umbrella. then, these guys. crews using cranes to remove branchs from a tree. the city chose to cut it down. taking the tree down today, the city remained to stay ahead of the storm. but being prepared doesn't mean some aren't happy that it's here. >> i love it so glad it's cleaning the air

we have pockets of heavy rain here, it's wide spread. and some street level rain, so the evening commute is getting off to a little bit of a rough start. rain approaching pacifica and san bruno is lighter out towards inland east bay. and here you can see off nine the coastline here, watching lightning strikes there is a possibility this evening. 50 miles per hour until 1:00 a.m . take a look at winds here, 33 in sfo.
