abc7 news begins with breaking news. good morning, the breaking news is on 101 in the south bay. it affects drivers who use 101 headed to southern california. a tanker truck accident shut down all southbound slaves through morgan hill. matt? we have a closer look at the accident scene on 101. you can see the fuel tanker is overturned on the southbound side and the work now for firefighters and crews is to get the fuel out of the tanker and

into the containers to take away from the scene. it doesn't appear they have started doing that. a major problem for firefighters and those living in the area is the strong smell of the fuel. c.h.p. tells us why. >> the tanker just picked up a load of regular gasoline approximately 8,000 gallons and unknown amount of gallons spilled we. approximately 4,000 gallons spilled. >> morgan hill police officer told me that he her there were homes evacuated in the area next to the southbound side of 101. a woman said she was evacuated from her home. the cleanup could take several hours. you can see it is a big mess. we have a lot of emergency crews on the scene. we will keep you updated on abc7 news.

bridge to the san mateo bridge. scattered light showers and the heaviest radar returns in the north bay. the first forecast is full of wet weather this morning and it will be dry by the eastbound hours and quite breezy. temperatures hang out in the upper 50's to mid-60 and purpose 50's at the coast. more protecting news in the south bay 18 people, eight children, are out of their homes after an overnight fire at an apartment complex in san jose. it broke out shortly after midnight. crews are still there mopping up and residents going through what is left their belongings. firefighters first got there they found cars and a carport burning. the san jose fire department took cell phone video. one unit was destroyed and three others were badly damaged. officials say smoke from an

air conditioning system led to a delta flight being evacuated at oakland international airport. a bart spokesman was a passenger on the flight from l.a.x. can says the cabin filled with smoke and flight attendants yelled for passengers to exit the plane. no one was hurt. katie marzullo will have more at 5:30. mike has been telling us, we are in the lull ween storms, a bigger and more powerful system will hit the bay area and the wind and rain blew drown trees. abc7 news reporter amy hollyfield has more on that. >> it is still wet. we are getting a break. the highway is wet. drives know this spot open highway 101 is a spot that is known for being troublesome. you can hydroplane.

round. thank you. crews are cleaning up after a tree fell on power lines at summit road in santa cruz mountains. it happened before 9:00 last night with crews working to clear the road and get power back on. crews have been busy along highway 17 in the santa cruz mountains. drivers dealing with rain slick roads and poor visibility. drives are seeing warning signs telling drivers to reduce their speed. >> the storm is bringing rough waves and strong winds so people brave the storm to take a walk at the harbor where the waves were up to 10' high and caused problems in monterey county where a rare advisory is posted for all beaches. run off from the storm has caused contaminated water to find its way to the ocean and tests found high levels of bacteria in the water.

-- positively meetings at 5:00 so more people can attend. the meeting is in bart headquarters in oakland. >> in east oakland police are investigating the murder of a man in his 40's shot and killed if front of his home. he had one gunshot wound when officers arrive and died at scene in front of his home. there are no suspects. >> $25,000 reward is offered to catch the person leaving poison meatballs around san francisco. animal control officers found three dozen meatballs in twin peaks and outer richmond and one dog became sick but treated quickly and will be okay. yelp c.e.o. and dog owner is putting up most of the reward money. a list chase caused delays on bart yesterday. these photos of the crowds were posted on twitter. two remain add robbery suspects got into the bart tunnels in san francisco's mission district at

this is abc7 news. it is 5:15. officials in contra costa county are meeting in danville to pick a new recycling provider. the contra costa salad waste authority will pick a company to handle the work for the decade worth $500 million. republic services is the front runner after getting good reports. a taco maker found a new spot to do business. a chocolate company is moving to berkeley after being on the embarcadero since 2008. in april they will open a larger 49,000 square foot factory in berkeley and will share the building with cliff bar. the last factory tour is tomorrow. tours are not available in berkeley until may. the tour is great. you learn a lot of science.

tanker. c.h.p. says the vehicle lost control on the slick road on 101 after 1:00 o'clock this morning and ran into the big rig carrying the fuel tanker. the tanker overturned into the ditch after going off the road. 4,000 of 8,000 flowns of fuel has spilled. >> there is a drain 75' south of the spill and the spill was going into the drain. an unknown amount. >> c.h.p. says the coast guard and other officials is been notified to make sure no water p ways were affected. a strong fuel smell is in the area. police officer told us he believes homes remain evacuated and a woman was asked to leave her home. we have not seen road closure on the side streets around the spill. it is a mess. it will take hours to clean up. it just started to rain. we don't know the exact on the cleanup efforts.
