>> in southern california, homeowners wait if a possible wall of mud to come their way. >> good morning, everyone, thanks for joining us on this busy and wet and slippery friday morning. >> problems on the roads and by air and now, 21 canceled flights already so the rain causing problems. >> mike has the forecast. >> good news in the south bay. from the roof we are still showing rain but not so heavy. that is still the case for you. we have a steady light rain. with live doppler 7 hd we had some flooding around 87 and tail street and 280 and 17 so the rain has let up. you head up to newark and fremont and toward union city and hayward and oakland and san leandro and piedmont all getting light-to-moderate rain headed to

the east bay valleys where we just finished with moderate-to-heavy rain and that is moving into the central valley or pushing north off highway 4 into the delta. napa has rain but you can see another batch around bodega bay headed over to petaluma and rohnert park. santa rosa is about to see an uptick in the intensity of rain as more showers are developing to the southwest and rolling up. expect steady rain through the morning commute and we will have showers through the early afternoon. on the planners, we will get a break during the evening of dry weather before more showers develop at 12 to thin hours from now. this is a small window of two or three hours when we are rain free and that is it. a lot of accidents, 52 at one time. >> now 55 separate incidents including flood.

this is oakland, westbound 24, a fail accident and the driver of the vehicle was not wearing a seatbelt. one lane is getting by. a monumental backup toward orinda through the caldecott tunnel and five miles, now. the alternate is highway 13 to 580 west. bart would be a wonderful way to go but they are experiencing major delays, as well, at 20 to 30-minute delays because of a problem in the tube. southbound 680 walnut creek before highway 24 an early accident has been cleared from the lanes. the damage is done. traffic is backing to pleasant hill and flooding in 9 south bay with lanes blocked for a time and looks like one lane is getting by, c.h.p. and caltran trying to clear the water. lots of standing water and winds, too. it is rough.

storm coverage continues in the south bay with abc7 news reporter who has the roadway flooding creating big problems for drivers this morning. >> absolutely. early are i heard you use the adjective slippery and wet. i will add "hazardous." that is because of the flash flooding. mike talked about the steady rain in the south bay. that is evident in the standing water at 87 southbound. we had traffic reduced to a single lane because c.h.p. noticed the flooding. i want to show you video we were able to capture when we were the only crews on scene. that is video of a trapped white sedan and that vehicle stalled out when it ran into the understooded area and we saw two people trapped inside. i reported earlier i did not understand why they had not got were out of the vehicle.

when the wrecker arrived to remove that vehicle i had an opportunity to make my way over to the driver. the driver said he was fine and did fought want to speak on camera. the driver of the wrecker said it was the fourth vehicle he has removed from a puddle just this morning. that is because of areas of particular flooding that the drivers do not see, they do not heed the warning, or drives are not paying attention. you have to watch out for areas of flash flooding. we see this repeated throughout the south bay. on highway 101 we had several slick spots. be careful. we will continue to follow this story and others throughout the south bay and you can follow me open twitter and san me any information you may have of things happening in your neighborhood. the storm is causing big problems in san francisco, too,

a big tree fell on the road in the sunset district at 37th avenue and lincoln way closing lanes. an s.u.v. crashed and a building on silver avenue one of many accidents this morning. that driver escaped unharmed. 2349 north bay pg&e is working to remove a downed tree that fell over live power lines at 2:00 this morning. officials say the driver caught fire while crews worked to reof might. pg&e says power for people in the area was not affected. >> half of the out aids are in the bay area. >> the north bay is hardest hit with 5,700 affected by two large out averages. east san jose has 650 total outages. 400 other out agencies are scattered law the east bay and friend and the peninsula.

and it is starting to improve but it could be a while before that clears. south 680 walnut creek before 24, that accident is cleared. we see a backup to pleasant hill and hopefully that will dissipate. give color self plenty of time. mike is on the roof in the elements with the weather forecast. >> rainy again coming down sideways as the winds pick up. we will look at live doppler 7 hd to show you the good news. we have been following the flooding at taylor street in the south bay and the rain has let up but the effects are still there. same with 280 and 17 right now we are not showing much radar runs but we do have an off-ramp flooded. we have more showers lining up in the santa cruz mountains and they will take the bulk of the wet weather and lighter rain if possible the next hour or so as they will move to the northeast across the south bay. we are starting to see less and

less orange in the radar but it is the best radar return in the east bay hills headed back into the san ramon valley for another push of light to moderate weather. head over to american canyon or napa, light-to-moderate rain and shores headed to santa rosa and petaluma and novato and more for san rafael and fairfax and mill valley and sausalito, the woke wall is manufacturing to the note. around the monterey bay, that is another batch of showers unrelenting over the next couple of hours as we transition from the heavy rain and steady rain to more showers on-and-off throughout the next six to eight hours. winds are fastest along the coast at 20 but still 18 miles per hour at napa with the fat of the winds around 1,000'. you can see it is raining on the

embarcadero and you can see the streams with ponding on the roads. not so breezy this afternoon. showers tomorrow morning, mostly dry on sunday, a slight chance of a shower late in the afternoon and we will have on-and-off light rain chances next week. the storm is moving in and has the poe toible for wind damage and beach hazard with a small stream advisory with creek flooding minimal but it could be out there. right now, all the way through 3:00 we have a chance of showers and we get a break from 4:00 to 7:00 and then another batch of showers moves in and hangs around law saturday morning. by saturday afternoon it is scattered if nature and gone by saturday evening. rainfall amounts hit half an imto an inch by saturday evening and 1" to 2" 2349 north bay mountains and 2" to 4" in the santa santa cruz mountains.

it happened because of the rain in the south bay. standing water presented a hazard for the drivers and the car stalled out when the driver thought he could make it through the standing water. two people were trapped. i had an opportunity to speak with them. they are okay. a wrecker took the car away. this is what c.h.p. warns commuters about. this is a a major thoroughfare back to 101 although northbound is the heavier side. there are different pools of standing water at different points. as we came down to san jose we are letting drivers know that as you move down 87 the traffic a taking bart to avoid problems there is another type of delay.

amy hollyfield is at pleasant hill bart with more on this. amy? >> look at this platform full of people waiting for a train because there are major delays this morning on bart. a bart spokesman tells me they are working on the problem and they do not know when they will get it fixed. they have a train control problem so trains are in manual most so they going slower and when it first happened they held the trains for 12 minutes so they could try and reset the train control computer. that is why there are long are delays. here comes the rain, however, when they get on it they will have a slow ride into the city. i had the spokesman if this is because of the rain and she said not really, we do have problems during heavy rain with bart but they are blaming this on the aging train control system.
